Hotel Wyndham Blake Chicago - Chicago

Staff was wonderful, and room was spacious and clean. Great location!!!

Although a perfectly fine hotel, whether i'd use their own words 'a landmark of luxury' is questionable. It is not a hilton & the complimentary breakfast consisted of one piece of fruit and a small muffin, again not quite what I'd expected for the price. In summary, not bad but because of the price and claims on the website I expected a higher so was disapointed. My advice would be to book a best western or go for it and splash out in the hilton, as the extra cost for this hotel, in my opinion this wasn't worth it.

Spent one night at the Wyndham Blake, on a business trip. The room I had was spotless & up to date. Internet wifi access was excellent despite my having to use an old laptop, with weak capabilities in that regard. Breakfast consisted of coffee + muffins & a couple of choices of fruit. Not for someone that needs a hearty breakfast, but it got me through to lunch.

The only bad thing is that we asked the man at the door of the hotel to book us a taxi and he stopped a not-taxi car, which took us 20 dollars intstead of 7 dollars.

Everything just perfect

This was a great stay for the price. I had a king size bed and it was only $125/night which was good considering that it was the 4th of July weekend. It is in a great location that is very close to the 'L' station as well as plenty of shopping and eating areas. There are also alot of bus stops and cabs in the area if you need to get away without driving. There is the smell of sewage when you first come into the hotel but that can be overlooked. And there was a tapping noise that you could hear in the pipes due to the age of the building but it wasn't loud enough to make you miss any sleep. Would definetly stay here again!

We LOVED the place and plan to return in August. The location is perfect, the people were very friendly and helpful and the accommodations were very good. We had a couple minor problems which were corrected immediately. Nice looking place with fun people! Only two things which bothered us; the eating area is nowhere near big enough for a big crowd (Sunday) and they ran out of food and coffee midway through the breakfast time. The basic rooms were located so that we could hear sirens all night long. Perhaps there was something going on but they are VERY loud. Overall a wonderful find and we will be returning there soon!

Wonderful and enormous bathroom with two washbasins. Large bedroom. A little place to sit at breakfast.

LONG SCENARIO: In late June, I made a reservation at Hotel Blake through Venere.com for a 2 queen bed premium room.The rate was $139.This was with the understanding in my family that the trip would be made by 3 adult women,and the little children.The weekend just before the Monday we were to arrive at Hotel Blake,a real problem arose.The travelers were changed to be my daughter, MY SON IN LAW, and me.He was extremely uncomfortable sleeping in the same room.I called the HotelBlake about midnight.The night assistant manager and I discussed what options there were;I emphasize he was helpful &understanding.He suggested a small suite[a door between my son-in-law and me] & gave me a reasonable venere.com rate.I was very happy.This was magic;I told him I was going to bring him roses - & I DID.I checked once more by phone before we left on the 4 hour drive to Chicago.The suite was a guarenteed-reservation,at that point.I had NO control over where the van went when we reached Chicago.My son-in-law would not take me to the hotel,when we first arrived,about 10AM.He insisted on a musuem 1st;2nd a Polish restaurant in the north of Chicago.It was past 8PM as we reached TheBlake.I fully realize that customers,such as I,are not the bread & butter clients of HotelBlake.In my 1st life,I was a Chief in the Navy.My 2nd career/ teaching/ administration led to earning a doctorate in education.My goal was bringing my family to the museums, etc.Anyone who interacted with my grandchildren, including The BlakeManagers, can tell you they are behaved&have manners.They followed me when I was registering,with backpacks,pillow,and favorite toy.I gestured to go to the couch near the window-then I "looked" at them and said "Sit." They did.My point in telling you this,is to impress on you that children [in my care] being in the hotel during the business week,do not,and did not disturb the regular clientel.We arrived in the midst of a LARGE group of men, traveling together,checking in & waited for t

Call the hotel to confirm reservation as well as type of room. I had ordered two beds (two senior women, not gay), but when we arrived the room had 1 king-sized bed. Hotel full, had to bring in a roll away bed. Hotel personnel very friendly and helpful, but said the organization that Venere uses to reserve rooms screws things up on a regular basis and one should always check with hotel before arriving.

The room was fantastic as the surroundings of the hotel. The breakfast was really poor compare to the level of the strucuture but for the price paid was sufficient.

We booked our room for 3 adults. We were told it would be a deluxe room when we made the reservation. The room we got was a standard sized room with two king beds. We expected a larger room. Also, we would have appreciated a mini-refrigerator in the room. The only place to get ice was on the top floor right off the elevator. There were no rooms on the top floor, and it was scary especially if a person went for ice alone.
