Towns Apartments - Vienna

We really liked having a lot of space, the shower was great.

I had left Munich and rushing at the last minute booked this Pension for two nights on my way to Budapest. I clicked the wrong map and thought I was booking something in the downtown/central city, which is the 1st district known as the Innere Stadt. However this pension is only three stops away on the underground. Vienna is divided into 23 districts and all addresses begin with the district number. When I got in my taxi, the print out did not include the district #, this pension is located in district three, south east of the central area in a nice shopping area but little night life. I arrived a little after 9pm on a week night and the receptionist was concerned I was going to have to go "into the city" to find a place to eat. I did not have to, there were three neighborhood choices: Chinese, Italian, and Greek/Crete. There is also a great internet place 2 blocks away between the pension and the underground that also has a location in the train station. The room was clean and very well taken care of, with dark wood trim and an air of yesterday all around. The staff, I believe mostly beautiful college girls who spoke English, were helpful. Vienna is an expensive city and I traveled in August of 2006. I paid 69.00 EUR per night. If you are uncomfortable riding a subway/underground this location will not be convenient at all. If you are on a budget don't forget to add the 12 or 14 euro taxi ride or get on the underground and get on U3 line towards "Simmering" from downtown and get off at "Rochusg." station and walk around 3 blocks.

Nice, quiet, well located. I was able to get a reservation for Easter weekend just a little over a week in advance. Upon arrival at Suedbahnhof rail station I had no problem finding the property (Tram 18, Bus 74A). Reaching the city center was also easy using the excellent public transportation system.
