The staff were great along with the location. If you want a cool room, the a/c is antiquated and it took three days to cool it down. We rented an apartment so we could cook but unfortunately the cooktop was old, took forever to heat and eventually stopped working. The refrigerator went out but we were able to put our food in another room across the hall.

Welcoming, spotless, quiet and well appointed. Very central with lovely view of castle. Only problem was that they don't accept travellers' cheques. Either the website doesn't make this clear, or I missed it.

Ideal location directly opposite castle and ideal for access to all of Verona's beautiful sights. Price is for location rather than quality of accommodation but lovely, friendly atmosphere and comfortable room.

This was our favorite accomodation in Europe. The front desk staff spoke English and were very helpful. The location couldn't be better. It is directly across the street from the castle and a very short, pleasant walk to Piazza Bra and the Colosseum. The room was charming, spacious, clean, quiet and very comforatble for our family of two adults and three children. Downstairs, there was a small kitchen with a clothes washing machine, a table for three and two large chairs that pulled out into single beds. Upstairs, there was a double bed, another chair that pulled into a single bed and a bathroom with a shower. The decor and the sheets were very nice. The only negative would be that internet access was not yet available in the rooms. However, the internet could be accessed via a computer in the lobby for a fee. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and can't wait to return to Verona.

The hotel has no parking at the front and it is even dangerous and hazardous to stop for loading and unloading luggage especially for people travelling alone by car. Parking is available at 12 euro's a day in a building 10 minutes walking away.We were asked to pay separately and in cash only for parking.

The hotel was where it said it was, very central and very handy. The apartment room was spacious and clean and had all the facilities needed. Although we had to go elsewhere for breakfast, the continental breakfast was fine and both cafes were just around the corner. The big disadvantage with the hotel is that our room overlooked the road between the hotel and Castelvecchio and the road was noisy all day and through most of the night. Without air conditioning, or a fan, we had to have the windows open and then we were kept awake by the noise. If you're a heavy sleeper that probably won't matter, but you should be aware of that. The staff were helpful and friendly and, if it wasn't for the noise, we'd happily stay here again.

This was a small apartment. The only significant problem was a total lack of a convenient way of boiling water quickly. The electric hot plates were of the old-fashioned solid kind, which take ages to heat up, so making tea or coffee took a very long time because water had to be heated in a small saucepan. There should be a simple electric kettle for this purpose.

Great hotel. The location was perfect: a quiet street right next to the Castle, which is right next to the river. The staff was fluent in English, recommended us a excellent dinner place, and helped us call a taxi to the station. The apartment is huge compared to a typical European hotel, complete with a spacious bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, and living room with TV. The kitchen came with utensils, and there was a small grocery shop just a few houses away, so we made our own breakfast the next day and it was fantastic. For the price, it's very worth it.

It was family travel for us, not old parents about 40 and 3 older children after 16. Actually it is very nice place, with super location at historical centre. Owners of the apartment ask for tranquility in the house, so I will not recommend La Residenza for diverting noisy group. Unfortunately, we had not possibility to taste breakfast in bar nearby, provided by Apartment La Rezidenza Verona, usually all bars and shops start after 12:00 on Monday morning, so we had found place to take morning cup of coffee only on piazza BRA, it takes ~ 15 min. from La Rezidenza.

We were in Verona two nights and three days and loved staying at La Residenza. We wish we had stayed longer. We rate the property a 10 in all categories with the exception of the spaciousness of the rooms--we were four people and you do have to close the couch to comforatbly use the kitchen table. However, we knew all this by the other ratings we read before we took the property. We would stay at the Residenza in a heart beat on our next trip to Verona.

Verona House is right next door to the 14th Century Castellvecchio, which is a wonderful historical building and art gallery. 10 minutes down the road in the opposite direction is the amazing church of St Zeno, overlooked by most tourists but full of some of the most incredible late medival frescos. All the other main visitor attractions are a 10 or 15 minute walk from Verona House into town - Piazza Bra, Piazza dei Signori etc. - it's a great central location and very convenient for transport. Great place to eat is near the Cathedral - Via Duomo, 7. Small, traditional Veronese food, not too expensive, poular with the locals and friendly helpful staff.

This appartment was very well situated. Right across the street from the Castle Vechio, which is beautiful at night and early morning. The room was very nice with a small kitchen and a seperate sleeping area for our daughter. Four blocks from the Arena and the shopping area. Very Quiet and good security. Parking was on the street and during the day could be hard to find but by 5:00 we never had a problem. The only slight negative was the price. This was the most expencive place we stayed while in Italy but it did have a full kitchen and laundry. The only other thing we had trouble with was that there is only one person who spoke english, but we made out fine. Good place.

We had a spacious, elegantly furnished apartment for our family of five, with a kitchen and refrigerator, and best of all, view of the Adige (river) and the Castelvecchio. The bathroom and kitchen are from the 1970s, but updated, so it looks retro. The hotel is really centrally located, 5+ min. on foot from the arena. There was public parking (zona blu) in the street, with a parking pass from the front desk for Euro 4.00 for 24 hrs.

Nice to have self catering facilities and more than just a bedroom. A little bit of a trek to the car parking area c. 5 mins walk. Cafe breakfast provided was a little meagre. Very good value, nice staff, good location just outside main centre. Would recommend to others.

I thought La Residenza provided a great value for the money. The location was exactly as I expected, right at the edge of the city area I wanted to explore. It is an easy walk pulling one piece of luggage from the train station. The facility is great - all as they had described on the site and Verona is wonderful. I just wish I could have stayed longer to take advantage of the apartment set up.

La Residenza Verona House is a great base of operations to explore the Veneto. We had two small boys (6 and 3) so the executive apartment was great for us. The extra room really helps and the apartment is extremely well set up with a pull out sofa and an excellent fold away table. The staff spoke excellent English (if you need that) and was immediately responsive to every request. In fact, although not 24 hour, the concierge service at this apartment complex was better than most 3 star European hotels we have stayed at. The negatives... It is a bit (and just a bit) away from the center of Verona and I got the sense that it was on the very edge of a dodgy neighborhood. I don't want to make too much of this as the view of the Castle was great and when you cross one street you are on your way to the heart of the Verona (the Arena is ten minutes away on foot), but if you insist on being in an absolutely pristine neighborhood on holiday, you may be disappointed. 2. I concur with an earlier commenter that Venere needs to get better maps and directions for those driving into Verona. It is very hard to locate the hotel using only what's on the website and Internet directions. Ultimately, we had to stop and buy a map of Verona and nose our way there. 3. I don't think the website informs you that if you want to park your car its an additional 12 euro/night. All and all, excellent place, great if you're travelling with kids and Verona itself is spectacular.

We had a very pleasant 3 night stay in a family room. Separate bedroom for adults and children on a double sofa bed. The room was very clean and all equiptment in working order. (the washing machine was very handy). Verona House was very well located to the old town centre (easy 3 min walk)and a short bus ride to the railway station. We had a bit of road noise at night from the cobblestone road outside, but that's just part of the character of the place . The inclusive breakfast was provided in a quaint cafe accross the road (coffee/juice/pastry only). Hotel itself was very quiet and the day staff friendly and helpful. We would certainly stay here again.

This was our best accomodation in Italy. The location is excellent, across the street from the castle in Verona, and about two blocks from the city center. It's a comfortable studio apartment, which is a cut above most hotels, and is very quiet. The staff was very helpful in finding our way about Verona. Most spoke reasonable English. One didn't, but we understand enough Italian to get by. There is a bus station at the castle about a block away, which is convenient for train travelers. Be sure to get on the bus at the train station going towards the castle, however. It goes in two directions from the train station.

We were four ladies who booked this apartment for three nights. Our stay was good and we would say that the overall standards, facilities and location were great. Our only issue was that we booked four people in an executive apartment but were not told that two would have to sleep on a pullout bed (which in fairness was very comfortable). The apartment was not really suitable for four as the bathroom was tiny and with the bed pulled out space was limited. We managed (as you do) and had great fun after we'd got used to the restricted space. Our only worry was where put the 28 pairs of shoes that we bought. Well, it was sale time.....

A little gem - opposite castle and five minutes or so walk to arena and perfect for opera buffs who do not require all the services of a hotel. Very spacious sitting area, bedroom, small kitchenette and good quality bathroom only slight downside no bath and shower slightly small but not as small as some I have come across and perfectly adequate. This was my second stay at Verona House and I will definitely stay there next time. Reception is manned during the daytime hours only (not sure precisely what hours but this can be checked) and you are given a key to the front gate and front door as well as a room key and let yourself in if you come in late or go out very early. I am not sure what happens if there is a major problem when reception is closed as there were no problems at all on either occasion but I assume there are contingency arrangements and it might be a good idea to check quickly everything is in order and functioning when you arrive. Only downside is breakfast is outside the residence in a newly refurbished and now very chic cafe around the corner a few minutes walk from the residence. You are given a voucher in exchange for a fixed menu light breakfast with choice of hot beverage, fruit juice, roll and croissant plus piece of fruit - some improvement on breakfast the previous year which was poor but will still disappoint those who get like to get stuck in to a large buffet breakfast to set themselves up for the rest of the day.

We just loved staying at La Residenza, but this property may not meet the needs of all travelers. La Residenza de Verona is a small apartment complex which is literally across the street from Castel Vecchio. If you want a slice of Italian life, want to be in close proximity to Piazza Bra and the Arena di Verona and have a 13th century castle as your next door neighbor, then I would highly recommend La Residenza. Everything was immaculate. While it is a short walk to the Piazza Bra and the Arena de Verona there is a very nice little neighborhood with cafes & shops even closer. It takes less than a 10 minute walk to be in the heart of Verona, and it is a pleasant, beautiful stroll to get there. We had a beautiful one bedroom apartment overlooking the castle. There was a large sofa sleeper in the living/kitchen area. All of our needs were met in a simple, unpretentious setting. I would not hesitate to return to La Residenza in a moment. It is a wonderful change of pace for an independent traveler. I would not recommend this place to anyone who relies on seeing a hotel desk staffed with several personnel, but there was alway a very pleasant woman in the office we would wave to during the day.

You can't beat the location and the view of the Castel Vecchio. We loved our rooms, but had some rather strange interactions with the staff, who didn't tell us about the breakfast (we finally found out by chance, after we'd already bought breakfast food) and who seemed to think we were asking a lot when we asked them to help us get information about buses to Lake Garda. They finally suggested we take the train; we went to the station and easily got the information about the bus we wanted. They also told us the room we booked wasn't available (an executive apartment for four) and gave our teenagers their own room, which was fine since they said it would be the same price that we had booked. However, when it came to check out time, they casually said "now you'll pay for both rooms" which was really strange since it was the same person who had checked us in. We said "no" and held out our Venere reservation print out and reminded them that they hadn't had our room when we checked in, and they just sort of shrugged, as with the bus, as if it were strange that we would care whether we paid 218 or 436 a night. It also would have been great if they'd mentioned that they had laundry facilities; I just saw that on the other reviews on this site. Overall, a nice place with indifferent staff.

Eveything was fine EXCEPT the map shown on your website which could not be printed adequately to see street names. We had the impression from the map that as soon as we found the Arena it would be easy to drive to the apartments . In fact many streets in the centre are one way only and we were forced over the river and out of town on several occasions . Eventualy i had to buy a map . park the car and WALK to the apartments in order to find out how to drive there. We rang your reception person and told her where we were but she said she could not direct us! The whole process of locating and driving to the apartment took two hours from reaching the Arena ( a five minute journey on foot)!!. This experience very nearly spoiled the whole experience of visiting Verona. You really should provide written directions from each of the main entry routes to Verona as well as a decent map! in all other respects the apartment was ideal for our needs (large and comfortable bed spacious and imaculately maintained and cleaned) and perfectly located for the key attractions.

An excellent location and the accommodation was first-class. The apartments were luxurious and fully equipped and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. I travelled with two other families under the one booking and there was no problem 'splitting' the bill and paying separately. Just one downside was the breakfast which was a coffee and croissant in the bar across the road. Howevever, because everything else was great and there was a cafe nearby, it didn't really matter. The service provided by Venere should not go without mention either - it was as also excellent.

The one room apartment was very nicely decorated and had a view of the Castelvecchio. The trade-off for the nice view was some street noise, but this did not continue all night. This room was an excellent value at the rate charged for a single person, and a very comfortable place to stay for a few days. The staff was helpful, but the English-speaking person was not always present, and it was occasionally necessary to wait for that person to return from meals, etc., before getting help. While the web page mentions a washer and dryer, those appliances are apparently only available in the larger apartments. Breakfast down the street was very good most days, except that on the one day of the week when the usual place was closed, breakfast was provided by another place, and this was much more limited in quantity and selection. Guests arriving late in the evening should communicate their arrival time, as the staff is not on site at all hours.

We had an excellent stay at Verona House - it was exceptional - we could not fault it in any way - particulary the welcome and the staff assistance was so friendly and helpful. The clothes washing machine was also very useful. The location is very close to the arena in the downtown area. The breakfast at the local cafe was delicious and more than adequate. It wasn't cheap accomm but for 3 persons this was affordable. For us this was a perfect stay and made Verona a special experience. Charming service. Excellent location. The "free breakfast" at the cafe over the road was a delight (and as surprise as we hadn't spotted it was included). There were three of us and I would have preferred to know that the single bed was a sofa bed in the lounge as we had assumed it would be in its own room. May be apartment specific floor plans or ,better still, photos of the apartments you are chosing would help remove this confusion. However, overall a good find at a fair price. My only criticism was the price (207 euros) which was higher than we typically spend per night. Perhaps the amenities (including 2 tvs and a washing machine)justify the price.

We had a very spacious apartment and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. After 5 weeks on the raod it was great to have a washing machine etc. The room was a little noisy with traffic noise but not really a problem. Would stay again.

Location is great (short walk to the Arena & 15 minute walk to/from the train station) and we had a view of the Castelvecchio from our window. The room itself was large, like a small 1 bdrm apartment. Small kitchen & dining area enabled us to self-cater and keep drinks/groceries for snacks & lunch. Felt "like home" with 2 tvs, phone, stereo, & furnished with utensils, plates, linen napkins, etc. We would return.

Quiet accommodation, although some TV noise at times. Rooms very clean & well-appointed. Excellent maid service. Good location. Very helpful staff. Breakfast is at a neighbouring bar & is minimal - not really worth the bother. We made our own breakfast in the kitchen. Seems a bit odd to offer breakfast in a self-catering apartment!

Verona House is a top notch property in a first rate location. It's a five minute walk to the arena and shopping. The website doesn't mention that the free parking is a pass for on the street parking. A locked lot is an extra € 10 per day and a 5 minute walk away. The two room suite was very nicely furnished and very quiet facing the courtyard. During the hottest summer in memory the two a/c units were able to cool the unit down very nicely. The kitchen was great, enabling us to save a lot of money. Only thing missing was a coffee maker, but there are plenty of coffee bars around the corner.

The staff were very helpful. I liked the fact breakfast wasn't in the hotel. The shower was ridiculously small and not perfectly clean. However the room as a whole was clean.

Central location; room to quiet patio; "silent" aircon; handy fridge in appartment; breakfast only in neighboring bars

The room we were given was extremely small and also had construction noise, especially early in the morning. The price was much too high given the size of the room. If we had known about the very small size of the room ahead of time we would not have reserved at this hotel.

We occupied a suite at Verona House which was spacious and comfortable. The rooms overlooked a busy road and therefore were noisy if the windows were open. The kitchen was fully fitted with cooker, washing machine and microwave although we found the firdge most useful. Could have done with an ironing board and iron. the location was excellant

Excellent location overlooking the castle. However, the included breakfast was a token for a neighbouring cafe which was closed on one of the mornings of our stay; the on-street parking required a ticket which was not immediately available when we arrived; and the room was not cleaned during the two night stay.

Having stayed at a number of hotels and in various accomodation in Italy, La Residenza Verona House was DEFINATELY the best value by a long shot. The pictures do not do it justice. It's like staying in your own 1 bedroom appartment. Absolutely brilliant. Everything to make you feel at home. This really is your home away from home. I was stunned at the facilities in my "suite." Would definately recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in Verona!!

The room was very nicely decorated and it was nice to have a kitchen and a washing machine in the room. But the breakfast was not on site and was poor.

We were disturbed a bit of a mootrbike noise from the nearby street. i was not able to adjust a heeting system; rooms were a bit cool. Otherwise, the service and location is very good. Excellent price/value balance. We were especially delighted to have fully equiped kitchen corner in the other room. This was pretty surprize, property descriprion doen't tell about it.

Quality of the rooms and service was just short of 5 star. The receptionists were especially helpful and, considering the proximity to busy roads, the Residence was surprisingly peaceful. Highly recommended to everyone interested in exploring this beautiful city or just visiting the Arena. The website map needs better resolution and detail.
