We stayed in this fantastic little apartment in july (Ca'Otello 2). Gofreddo is very welcoming and met us from the vaporetta boat you take from the airport and then took us to the apartment which is a very handy 2mins from the boat stop and gave us some local information regarding supermarkets and sights etc. There were a few essentials in the kitchen such as milk, juice, tea and coffee upon arrival which was really nice. I must say the apartment is so very well equipped it is like borrowing someones flat rather than renting your usual self catering place, which is a massive bonus in such an expensive city as you can actually cook for yourself. We bought our own food from the local well stocked supermarkets and only ate out once because the food on offer in venice is so expensive and rather poor compared to other places in italy. I have read some reviews regarding the big windows and concerns people have had with privacy. I would like to say these are mirrored and the reason you may think passers by are looking in is that they are in fact just doing what is human nature when one sees a mirrored surface, checking out their own reflection!!! The area itself is lovely and quite, very close to boat stop for travel to further places if you dont like to walk and the islands and within easy walking distance of sights. Unfortunately we do have one bad point, this apartment seriously needs air conditioning.... I am not a fan of A/C but in the july heat it was very uncomfortable sleeping at night and put a bit of dampener on what is a perfect place to stay.

Beautiful apartment, friendly and helpful owners. The location was ideal for us, mother, 9yo child and grandmother. Very close to a water taxi rank, gelatoria, restaurants, post box, telephone and hospital. Easy walking distance to San Marco and Rialto Bridge, but make sure you have a good map until you get your bearings. Gabriella had sent clear directions via email on which water taxi to catch and where it was located. Mr Gofreddo met us when we disembarked at the water taxi stop and guided us to the apartment(a mere 30 metres or so away which was most welcome after lugging our baggage from the train station). He then showed us around the apartment, explaining everything, pointing out a local supermarket and adding some tips about some places to visit - a friendly, helpful man. The apartment itself was beautifully appointed and very clean with a lovely vase of fresh orchids on the table to greet us. The only thing missing was a toaster but we got by fine without one. There was yoghurt, milk, water and juice in the fridge for us to use which was a nice touch. The beds were comfortable and the water was hot - very important points. The toilet downstairs was handy, saving trips up the stairs during the day. The only downfall was if we opened the windows to let the breeze flow through then we could hear a window shutter banging at a neighbouring apartment but that was not enough noise to disturb our sleep. All in all, a great apartment in a great location away from the crowds of tourists - thoroughly recommended for anyone who wants to spend a couple of days in Venice exploring on their own and seeing how the locals live.

We were met at the vaparetto landing, as arranged, and accompanied to the apartment address, which was just a stroll away. Information of the locality was given and well appreciated. The big windows of the apartment were not a problem during the day, but curtains had to be drawn at night to stop the many passers by seeing into the room. The biggest critisism, and it was major, was the lack of Air Conditioning. A floor mounted fan is NOT Air Conditioning....it is a fan. This was totally inadaquate in the heat of middle 30 degrees, and made the stay uncomfortable.

I stayed there with my three teenage daughters. The flat is spacious, clean, and the person renting the flat really nice.On the website it was said there was a luggage deposit but there wasn't .But the owner was really nice ,he let us keep it until the middle of the afternoon as it was n't rented that night.Venice is brilliant.

We had a very nice welcomming. The owner was very cordial and took the time to explain us how to visit Venice and where the grocery stores where. 15 minutes walk from Piazza San Marco which is very nice to be a little bit outside from all the tourists.

We enjoyed our stay at Ca'Otello 2. It was close to public transport and we took advantage of its position to go to the islands as well as the grand canal.

Ca' Otello #2 was a nice change to a hotel or B&B. Staying in an "apartment" was fun because it had a full kitchen with fridge and freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer!!!, and a living room with couch and other lunge chairs. Many times we would walk down to the Rialto Farmers Market, buy our veggies, fruits, meats and breads and go home to make our own meals. The only downside is that it is tough find. I suggest jumping on the water taxi right out of the train station and going to Fondamenta Nuove stop, the Ca' Otello is about 50 yards from there. A great place to stay.

This is the second time we have rented a Ca Otello apartment, the first being in Feb 08 with my entire family. This time around it was just two of us in their smaller apartment. Excellent welcome from Goffredo, fridge was well stocked with milk, juice and water, as was the pantry. Many stores are nearby so we were able to prepare many of our meals. Also near some of the less visited jewels of the city, such as Santi Giovanni e Paolo and S. Maria dei Miracoli. Ca Otello is particularly well situated close to the vaporetto stop, which made catching an early flight at Marco Polo easier. We would definitely come back once again.

Goffredo was very welcoming on our arrival, and provided us with lots of useful information about Venice, and the surrounding area. This was our first time in Venice and we enjoyed this form of accomodation which allowed us to prepare our own meals if we wanted to. We would recommend staying at Ca Otello to couples and families.

Nice apartment but its on the groundfloor with big windows facing the street. So if youre shy don't draw away the curtins. Gofreddo who was the man meeting us and showed the way to the apartment was very nice, gave us useful information in plain english. This was our fourth time in Venice and yes, we love the place. This apartment is in a part of venice called Cannaregio, close to Fundamente Nouve. This is a part of town where you will find "real" venetian people. So if you want to live a few blocks away from the big flood of tourist walking from Rialto to San Marcus square - this is the place.

This is a lovely apartment in a quieter part of Venice very close to the Fondamente Nove and within easy reach of the main tourist areas. It was a welcome respite from the crowds of San Marco and the Rialto with a quiet and safe walk back through the backstreets of Venice. The quality of the decor is very good with impressive wet room ensuite to master and separate bathroom. All bedrooms are good sized. The lounge area is adequate. Though the kitchen area is small there was enough space to prepare meals. There is a variety of cafe's and restaurants nearby ranging from very cheap to quite expensive. Its location is ideal for the water bus trip around to San Marco or the Alilaguna Blu trip from/to the airport. A supermarket is not too far away on the Fondamente. All four family members loved this apartment. Venice and this apartment are great.

The apartment was basic, clean, comfortable and the kitchen had everything one might need. The area was very quiet--a bit of a walk to the major attractions, however we are walkers so it wasn't an issue for us. Very close to water taxi stops. We enjoyed our stay in this area of Venice, felt like we were in a real neighborhood.

(Comment related to "Ca' Otello 2") Many PRO's: Good location (quiet surroundigs and near to the main city attractions: 10 min. on foot to S.Marco, 5-6 min. to Rialto, 1 min. to the nearest boat station); spacious kitchen/living room and nice bedroom; functional and effective heating system; kitchen provided with anything needed to cook, including pots, dishes, two italian coffee machines, coffee powder and a wide selection of teas; the bathroom is new and clean. Few CON's: the bathroom has no window, and the air extractor sometimes doesn't provide the needed air recycling; there is no wardrobe; the apartment is located at the ground floor, and therefore we felt the need to keep the curtains always closed. OVERALL RATING: Very good. We stayed in this apartment for 3 days (just for sleeping and breakfast) and we enjoyed our stay very much! Compared to the average hotel prices, "Ca' Otello 2" is a less expensive, yet good choice.

Mr. Goffredo was waiting for us on arrival as arranged at the vaparetto stop and explained the business details of rental clearly and matter of fact-ly, also giving us a few tips for the area. Ca' Otello is located a brisk 10-15 minute walk from the San Marco district, out of the way of the busiest streets and nicely situated near the water on the northern side of the island looking toward Murano. This allows one to experience the many side streets of Venice - an absolute must during your trip. The apartment is next to a restaurant, which is bustling from morning to evening, but not too noisy, and very close to two vaparetto stops, which is useful. The apartment is well appointed with all that is needed, including a washing machine, and an appreciated welcome package. The nearest Coop is a 10 min. walk. The A/C mainly cools the hallway upstairs and strains when the water heater is on as well, but we found opening the windows was largely sufficient for us in August.

The apartment is clean and spacious. The living room/dining room area is small, but the bedrooms are good sized. It is within walking distance of major sites. The only problem we encountered was that we were expecting air conditioning and it did not work. We were there in mid June and it was very hot and there were lots of mosquitos. It would have been much nicer for us if would could have closed up the apartment and turned on the air conditioning. Otherwise, it is a great place to stay while in Venice.

Our stay was great. The only suggestion would be a proper big cattle for the kitchen and maybe a toaster tool. Don't forget to bring along your slippers because the stone floors are cold in spring. Although the apartment itself is very warm.

This hotel was a very good value. It was large and clean and the employees were very helpful. The area was quiet and near to the ferry for easy access to other areas of Venice. The hotel was located in a rather isolated area of Venice which was ideal for my family but might be lonely for young adult tourists.

4 adults stayed for 3 nights and we had a great time. After sightseeing in all the touristy areas of Venice, we really appreciated the quiet neighborhood of the apt. It was so convenient to the waterbus stop and great places to eat. The owner was very helpful with directions and suggestions. Also, the refrigerator was stocked with essentials and were much appreciated on our arrival after a long trip. It was a 2 story apt. so if you had any issues climbing stairs, it might not be the place for you. It was a perfact place for us!

Having stayed in Venice before with my husband in an upmarket hotel on the Grand Canal, I was a little anxious about taking the kids and staying in an apartment. I actually preffered the apartment - it was FANTASTIC! The owner met us from the Vapouretto stop which was literally 50 yards from the apartment. The apartment was immaculate inside and perfectly formed for our requirements. Upstairs was even bigger and nicer than we imagined. The local supermarket was also within easy walking distance and we even had use of a shopping trolley! It was great fun to cook authentic Italian food in our new Chef's hats purchased in St. Marks square in the apartment. Walking into the centre was a really enjoyable experience as it took us through the real Venice and felt much less commercialised than the Rialto bridge area. I would definately recommend walking into the centre at least once or twice. It only takes about 15 minutes and there are lots of Trattorias and shops to look at enroute. This visit we also went the Doge's palace which was incredible. Our children are 13, 10 and 7 and they especially liked the armoury, prison cells and paintings.I must admit that the highlight of their holiday was feeding the pigeons in St. Marks square and the Gondola ride. Gabriella and Goffredo were excellent hosts and I would 100% recommend this apartment. Venice truely is one of the wonders of the world!

A great place to stay with a family or even two couples with a couple of kids. From earlier reviews we knew the kitchen was well stocked-a huge plus. The welcome was great, even though we were 2 hrs late due to acqua bassa and a change in vaporetto routes The location is a bit out of the way, on the north side of the city, but it caused us to explore parts of the city we had not seen. Very convenient to the vaporetto and public transport to the airport, another big plus The rooms, particularly the bedrooms, were beautifully but simply appointed. The family room was a bit chilly-our stay was in February. A rug in the living room would have been a nice addition. Overall we loved our stay and would recommend the apartment as a very cost effective way to stay in Venice.

This was a wonderful apartment and helped make our stay in Venice a real joy. We were met at the boat stop by Goffredo. He is a true gentleman from the "old school" and was very helpful. The apartment itself was very comfortable. As a family of four we had lots of room. The place would sleep up to 8 comfortably. The kitchen and living/dining room are small, however, so big gatherings would be difficult. The space is all upstairs in the 3 large bedrooms. Food, juice, coffee, etc. was provided, and very much appreciated, especially after the completely bare apartment we had in Rome. I love the location. Some good cafes and the Fondamente Nove vaporetto stop are right there. San Marco Sqaure, the Rialto, and the Ghetto are an easy walk It's a part of town where Venetians actually live and work, and it was nice being part of it. The view of San Michel is spectacular. Highly recommended, and we would return without hesitation.

Everything was great. The owner expected us with everything ready. There was even coffee and snacks. Moreover, there was rice and oil so we can cook (which we did BTW). Location is fantastic, get off the vaporetto, walk 60 mts. and you're in. Vaporetto stop perfect for I/O Venice and for Murano (and Burano!). 15 minutes (beautiful) walking to Piazza San Marco, fantastic restaurant just across the street (expensive though...). Excellent apartment, it's highly recommended. We have visited dozens of hotels/ apartments and this ranks (easily) among the top 5 best performance /price options

Ca' Otello is a great apartment, very well suited to family groups. The facilities are top notch, the welcome is great and they even leave a well stocked larder and fridge! Bonus! The apartment is very handily situated near a vaporetto stop and for trips to islands like Murano. Would definitely stay there again.

Ca'Otello was our favorite place we stayed in Italy. It came at the end of a two week trip, and gave us a chance to spread out a bit. There is an excellent small kitchen with a refrigerator, stove and microwave; a dining room area with a two-seater couch; satellite tv (although if you sit around watching tv while you're in Venice you're crazy); 2.5 bathrooms; two bunk beds, and three double beds. We couldn't believe we got all that for 150 Euros a night (we were there at the end of March). It was spotlessly clean, and had plenty of clean towels and other supplies. It's nicely removed from busy tourist areas, and very conveniently located right around the corner from the Fondamente Nove vaporetto stop, which allows quick access to Murano, Piazzale Roma, and other key stops. Despite a misunderstanding about our arrival time, the owner graciously made a return trip from Lido to check us in. The apartment was beautiful, and I would say the nicest (and best valued for the price) place I have stayed in Europe, and I have travelled in Europe many times.

Absolutely beautiful! It was so welcoming having the landlord meet us at the waterbus, assist Grandma with her bags and make us espresso coffee and cookies when we got there. There were a few staples, milk, juice yogurt, oil vinegar, sugar, coffee, tea etc in the apartment. You cant imagine how nice that is after a long journey! The back bedroom upstairs was noisy from the people living above it ( although someone up there had an angelic singing voice that we enjoyed). The 2 front bedrooms were very quiet. Nice restaurant( expensive) across the street. Nice quiet location, Spotless, Lots of beautiful marble. Landlord was awesome and very accomodating! We were a family of 6, 2 parents, 3 children and grandma with us. We had enough space, esp with 3 bathrooms. The kitchen, although small, was very functional and enabled us to cook Italian, with no problem! We actually felt very integrated into the community living in the apartment as opposed to a visitor in a hotel! It didnt take us very long to walk to St. Marks square and the water bus was just down a short street. The grocery store was also not far. We controlled our own heat. I better stop now, If I praise it too much, it will be all booked up when we come back!
