Alexandra Aparthotel - Tarragona

Older hotel, but I have stayed in older hotels in Europe and found them quaint if balanced out with other features. Some of the front desk staff very good, others limited. Coffee bar area very good. No wifi, but good ADSL line. Cleanliness a big issue. Pail in bathroom not emptied when we came, Kids bracelet and oreo cookies crumbs all through the sofa bed. Sofa bed on last legs....kids called it the sofa bed of death. Want to have dishes clean which is fine, but charge 4 Euros for the soap, scrub pad and dish cloth which is silly, but there is no drying towel for anything. Toaster would be good. No microwav, but a really big fridge. Location is very good for the Rambla, not so much for the beach as its a heck of hike on a hot day. Pool is small, but I thought it was ok versus some of the reviews. Parking on Fonteri (private) was cheap in comparison to some of the others. Best paella I had this trip though was in Tarragona at the Salad Stop near the cathedral of all places.

The hotel is in a very central position on a nice boulevard leading to Balcó del Mediterrani(the map on this site does not do it justice). We were slightly worried that the room would be noisey as it was at the front but this was not the case at all. The only problem we encountered was the high price for parking (21-24 euros per 24hrs)but this would be the same in any large city.
