Very welcoming, helpful friendly family run hotel with very attractive decor, beautifully positioned by the sea.Our room had a sea view looking across to the old city and adjacent to it was a large terrace perched over the sea so we could look down into its clear green depths and watch the fishing boats go out to sea and the sun set over the city behind. There was some traffic noise in the morning from the road at the end of the street but rooms on the other side of the hotel would not hear that and it did not unduly trouble us. The hotel is renovating some of its rooms for next year and I'm sure it will have some lovely accommodation to offer when it's finished. We had a great stay there.

The staff was very nice and helpful with directions to local attractions. Rooms were very clean and spacious and the included breakfast with fresh fruit, pastry, etc. was excellent. Some of the hotel is still undergoing renovations but did not impact our stay. The hotel is on a very narrow side street but had private parking. There was noise from cars and scooters coming from a main street nearby but died down a bit at night. The 3rd floor terrace is beautiful with excellent panoramic sea views. It is about a 25 minute walk to Ortigia. There is a restaurant 5 min walk but not much else unless you go to the main part of town. Overall very happy with our stay.

Estuvimos en una habitación triple, sólo una noche, pero nos gustó mucho. La terraza nos pareció impresionante y el personal fue muy agradable.

It was my first stay in Siracusa and i liked it very much. I guess it was the city i liked the most on my sicily-trip! The Hotel was very nice. I enjoyed the furnishing, the sun deck and the kindness of the employees!

The owners were delightful and welcomed me with a glass of almond milk and Sicilian sponge cake. The room was clean, airy, and bright. A fabulous terrace overlooks the sea. Everything was beautifully done and the owners went out of their way to make the stay one of the best I have ever had in Italy. The only problem were with some noisy guests one night and noisy neighbors another night. But these were able to be blocked out by closing the shutters. Luckily, the night was not a hot one. The neighborhood appears run down when you first approach the hotel. You don't quite know what you are getting into. But the hotel was an extraordinary, unexpected jewel. I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to great and ecconomical stay in Siracusa.

Non è in centro storico ma in posizione agevole per raggiungerlo. I grandi restauri lo faranno diventare veramente fantastico. Ottima accoglienza e grande cortesia, colazione casereccia (cioé ottima).

This is an excellent hotel! They are renovating it and it they are doing it very tasteful and beautiful with a lot of nice details and colours. The view is fantastic and the staff very helpful. We arrived by car and it is easy to find the hotel and they have a small parkingplace right outside. We can definitely recommend this hotel and we will stay here everytime we visit Siracusa.

A very pleasant hotel right by the sea. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and welcoming, though none of them appeared to speak anything other than Italian (not a problem for me, as I speak it well enough to get by, but in a three-star hotel I expect better). Significant building and refurbishment work was going on during my stay. The first-floor terrace had been closed to make way for the building of a second-floor terrace, which was almost finished and will be lovely when it is.

The Hotel Riviera is a hotel that seems to have once been a glorious and elegant place to stay. It is situated so that you can look out to the sea from your bedroom window. Today, while the lobby is still very lovely with marble stairs, for example, it does not quite meet some of the needs of the modern traveler. There was no elevator, for ex, so we had to lug our suitcases up the stairs. The skeleton keys were interchangeable and fit both of the rooms we rented! While the place turned out to be safe and secure, we didn't feel good about that situation. The furnishings in the room were old, but not antiques and there was a musty old smell in the room. It was meticulously clean and the service and hospitality was above expectation, but travelers should be warned about the lack of security and elevator and the significant problem with parking. We spent too much time driving around the few surrounding tiny streets attempting to squeeze our car in somewhere safe. The breakfast every morning was gracious and the bathroom was new and modern but I'm not sure that I would rent there again.

Thank you for an opportunity to write a review. There was some construction work under way at the hotel but the owners are obviously trying to improve the property. The work did not affect us significantly. The owners/family were very friendly and hospitable and we would consider returning there again, particularly after they complete the renovations. My only criticism really was the lack of parking facilities.

The hotel is in a quiet location overlooking the sea. Staff very helpful in dealing with the car parking problem. Neighbouhood quite decent. Hotel is about 12 minutes walk from the bridge to Ortygia, which is better than trying to park a car at a hotel on Ortygia itself. Likewise about 12 minutes walk (via a little alley under the railway) to the Museo Archilogeo. Breakfast very basic, and hotel appears to be running on a shoestring, but agreable stay nevertheless.

A FRIENDLY MEDIUM SIZED HOTEL WITH CLEAN REASONABLE SIZED ROOMS AND A VIEW OF THE SEA. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THE HOTEL IS EXTENDING ITS SIZE AND CERTAIN PARTS OF THE OCCUPIED SECTION ARE NOT COMPLETELY DECORATED.

We were greeted by an empty hotel and a woman who announced that there was a "piccolo problema" -- no boiler/hot water, and no prospects for repairs. Fortunately, the woman was helpful in calling other hotels to find a room. We recommend Hotel Gutowsky and Domus Maria.

Staff friendly and helpful but poor command of english. worst feature is lack of lift. We had to carry our bags up three flights of stairs. The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment (very slowly) and the locks on the bedroom door had to be fiddled with extensivley to make them lock. A long way away from places to see and go. Lack of ammenities such as fridge, glasses & coffee in room and hair dryer etc.

Very friendly and welcoming - nice, quiet rooms and reception area, but will presumably be a lot nicer when they've finished the building work. A bit too far from Ortigia - 20 mins walk down a busy and mostly un-scenic road, no bus. The only benefit of the location is that it's very close to an excellent restaurant (2 minutes further up the road).
