Great location! Easy access to sights and metro. Apartment was spacious and balcony overlooked a quiet, pretty courtyard. Basic supplies for coffee/tea, olive oil, vinegar, appreciated. Minor draw back, low water pressure in shower. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

Me, my wife and my mother visited Rome in May. Martina met us at the apartment on time. As i was paying for the room i noticed that I had made a mistake on my flight from Rome to Venice. Martina helped us out and called Alitalia to change the flight for us. He even made us a cup of expresso. He's a true gentleman and i recommend his apartment to anyone.

Our stay here was overall good. It was spacious for four people. It was clean, except the bathroom seemed old and dirty. The location was AMAZING!! The coloseum was so close we could see it standing in front of the apartment. The 4 of us were thankful for the location. The owner was nice, quiet, but helpful. No map was provided though, which would have been better. He was nice and let us check out later the next day and even carried some of our luggage up the 6 flights of stairs for us, because the elevator was broken. So, in case you cannot do stairs this may not be the place for you, because if the elevator breaks again it was quite a walk up those 6 flights of stairs. We liked it and would stay here again.

Wonderful. Perfect family apartment, just as a local would have it. Not a hotel, a great central apartment. Fantastic location right near to Colosseum and Forum. They were very helpful taking me to me getting local SIM cards for our phone and showing good restaurants and shops in the area. Better of without a car as parking not easy, but then again you hardly need one as so central to Ancient Rome.

Perfect location for sightseeing and walking around Rome. The owners of the hotel were very friendly and helpful - we were very late due to a rail strike and they waited over 4 hours for us to get there! The only thing is that is is hard to find (especially if the Metro stop Colosseo, as in our case, is closed). You need to actually climb up a few steps to get to where it is as it is situated on a hill looking over at the Colosseum. Overall the property is good for 4 people, possibly 5, it is a one bedroom and they can have an additional bed set up in the living room. It worked out for our family of 4. There are 5 flights of stairs but an elevator is also available. There is free wifi and it is near a 24 hour cafe which is great! The owners helped us secure transportation when we needed to head to the airport. Highly recommend staying and will certainly book here again!

Since we were in Rome for only a 2 day trip , we had to make the most of our stay and this location was ideal. The Colosseum is right in front of it and well connected to major areas in Rome. A Tip - Please make sure to intimate the time of your arrival correctly as we reached a bit later and had to wait for someone to let us in (it is an apartment not a hotel after all)which cut into our plan. In addition to the initial intimation sent to the caretaker at Martina, It may be a good idea to inform again as soon as you alight from the airport and head towards the property. Sergio who was at the location was very helpful and accomodating . He even arranged for a pram and extra Cot for our family. The property itself is at a very antique location and rooms are well furnished and spacious. Taxi service to Rome Ciampino airport was arranged in the morning at 5 AM and the driver was nice as well . Overall a Highly Positive experience. Warm Regards

Definately recommend and I will stay there again. Usually I was out and about Rome 1st thing in the a.m., one morning I heard low level 'chattering', there's an elementary school classroom across the courtyard, but it didn't deter my stay in the least. Very quiet at night.

the floors were very dirty, it looked like they just swiped the mop around and not behind the toilet, bidet or sink - there were dirty areas behind each that were very obvious. the cup for the toothbrushes, well, it was gross, and you could smell the moldy shower curtain when you walked in the front door. the toaster was broken. however - the staff was very patient and helpful and the rooms and the building were really quite wonderful. linens were clean, towels though characteristically stiff, were clean and kitchen had bread, milk, butter, jam and coffee for the morning - VERY nice. perhaps they just need to talk to the cleaning person? tip - avoid all the nearby eateries except the nearby Enoteca on via cavour. they are mostly AWFUL.

Excellent location, easy to get around with buses and trains. Mini supermarkets nearby. Owner provided welcome bowl of fruit which was appreciated. If you are attending with small children, don't miss going to the 3D Rewind re-enactment of gladiators at the Colosseum which is only 3 minutes walk away. Overall we were very happy with our stay at the apartment, and its central location. The queen size bed however was a bit hard, and we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment. It seemed as if someone had done a very quick job in getting it ready for our arrival and forgot to sweep the floor and wipe down the sink. RS - Australia

Fantastic location - near to the sights and the metro and yet very quiet. Carlo was extremely helpful with his help and advice via email in the weeks leading up to the trip, and Sergio was very helpful and courteous when we arrived (even though it was 12 midnight). It was a lovely surprise to find some essential food stuff already placed in the apartment so we could enjoy a late supper and lazy breakfast without having to find the shops first thing. The apartment was also reasonably close to a few supermarkets so getting the essentials in wasn't a problem. We've visited Rome many times but this has been the best accommodation yet by far.

We met the caretaker Sergio in the street and he he took us right away to the flat, no waiting time which we appreciated very much. The flat was nice and we liked the silence, although it's a stone's throw from Colosseum and all the touristic bustle there. The kitchen lacks certain utensils like tea cups, lids to the pots, a big spoon to stir with and such+some more care. The water kettle should be replaced or thoroughly cleaned, I guess it's never been done...The cupboards were very dusty but we could live with it. There was no toilet paper so we had to go out and buy it - if one pays €110/night it seems odd that such a thing is lacking... Overall the flat is OK and ideal for visiting historic spots like the Forum and such.

We really enjoyed our six night stay and were very comfortable. There was plenty of storage space in the bedroom and the bathroom was a good size. The kitchen was well equiped and the starter food supplies very welcome especially as we arrived mid evening on a Sunday with no time for shopping. We liked the neighborhood and the nearness of Via Cavour for our day to day shopping needs. Our only major issue was with the narrowness of the bath and the problems with safety this caused when standing in it in order to use the shower.

Splendid accomodation in the heart of ancient Rome. The Colosseum and Forum Romanum nextdoor and the most important sightseeing places within walking distance. Restaurants, bars and supermarket just around the corner. The apartment was clean, the kitchen well equipped. Communication with the staff by mail was excellent: immediate response to questions as well as about the apartment as about the best way to travel from the airport to the city. Sergio was already waiting for us at the apartment. Warm welcome with a bowl of fruit and lots of information about visiting Rome.We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit Rome!

The accomodation was just right for a city-centre apartment so close to Rome centre - it really is 50 yards from the Colosseum. The windows faced onto the internal courtyard, but this didn't matter as we were out sightseeing all day anyway, and this made the apartment very quiet. We got more than we expected - toaster, kettle (essentials for Brits) and essential provisions to start us off (milk, fruit, bread, butter, jam). The two beds are doubles, but the sofa can be used as a single bed if necessary. There was a small lift, and security was good (several security doors). We were lucky and didn't have to pay for parking our car, but you might have to pay for parking in busier seasons (there's no real need for a car in Rome anyway). We'd definitely come back here again if we came back to Rome.

As of our taste, ideal for two-three people. Price is quite fair, though aint no cheap, but hey - it's Rome, 200 meters away from Colosseo and Forums. The only concern - enormous amount of sea gulls, and it's a real disaster for those, who'd prefer to sleep with open window rather than using air conditioner. It's just impossible - birds are so loud, and 'cause of appartment exposed both sides to the small but deep "wells"/back yards, echo is a real problem. Other than this would highly recommend.

We especially appreciated the food and kitchen facilities provided for us, as we were self catering. A microwave oven would have been a helpful addition. My only other minor complaint was that the shower was tricky to use as the wall mounting had broken. The apartment was quite hard to find on the street, as there are no house numbers in that part of the street. But very close and onvenient to the Colosseum and the Metro station. This was the most expensive place we stayed in during our month in Europe; I don't know that I'd call it good value, but it was a nice apartment.

Apartment was spacious. There was a big bowl of fruit provided for us as well as bresh bread rolls and milk. A really nice touch. The Colosseum was just down the end of the street and it was an easy walk into Rome centre from the apartment. My only complaint is that the apartment credit card machine wouldn't accept my Visa card - had to pay up front. After dragging cases from train station to apartment, had to go out to a cash machine to withdraw cash, only to find daily limit. Had to draw out money over several days to pay. My elderly mother has always wanted to visit Italy but has been unable to, so my daughter and I offered to take her. As requested I sent SMS messages to the number quoted on your reciept on the morning of our arrival to say we would be arriving around midday (with no reply). When we arrived at Martina al Colosseo I rang the number and was told that our accomodation had fallen through. We waited in the heat for over an hour while the man found alternate accommodation in another part of Rome. The man assured me 'many'emails had been sent however when I returned to Australia only one had been sent 6 dys previously (when we were already in Italy). The new accommodation was disappointing as I was travelling with my elderly mother who is not mobile and I picked Martina al Colosseo because it was close to the sites she wanted to see. Once inside, the new accommodation was even more disappointing. The land lady insisted we pay for 2 nights upfront without even seeing the rooms. As my mother could walk no further I was obliged to pay for 1 night. The landlady was rude to me when I would only pay for one not 2 nights. When we finally were allowed into our room we found it cramped and dirty. It had no kitchen facilities and my daughter and I were forced to sleep together in a 'pull-out'sofa bed. It was certainly not comparable to the features given for Martina al Colloseo. My daughter and I then set off to find alternative accomodation. Luckily we found a very nice clean hotel near Via Nationale at the same price of the previous horrible place. I have not had trouble using Venere before but will think twice next time.

Fantastic location. We arranged through Martina al Colosseo the airport shuttle and we were fortunate to be able to access the property immediately despite our early morning arrival. The property is very close to the Metro but might be difficult to find on your own because it is not sign posted as it is only one unit in a block. Very quiet at night and the room can be made very dark with the shutters. Whilst there is a school adjacent the noise from there doesn't start until after 8am. The only negative was that the washing machine does not work and the washing did not dry very well in the apartment but we did find a laundromat nearby.

Apartment building was around the corner from the Metro. We were send very good email information, met at the door, given keys and instructions (very buisness-like). We paid for 2-nights @ 210 EU in June which is less expensive than 2 hotel rooms. Large master room, outer room had queen bed and sofa. Our 12 and 14 year old kids had plenty of room. The location was great as we could walk to the ruins, Trevi fountain. Easy Metro ride to the Vatican. We made the reservations based on other Venere.com comments and they were very accurate.

Martina al Colosseo was excellently located. I would empahsize in any information it’s very close proximity to the Colosseum Metro station. The kitchen was nicely appointed although it was explained to us that the oven didn‘t seem to be working. (we didn‘t have need of it) The owner kindly provided some fresh fruit, milk, butter, bread and coffee prior to our arrival. It would have been a nice to have a good tourist map on sight, some local café recommendations (especially since the location is very touristy, so the nearby eating establishments seem over the top and inauthenic), maybe any tips about visiting the immediate areas sights. None of these things are necessary, but would have been nice. We were a family of 4, 2 adults, 2 teen daughters. The apartment size was workable for the two nights we were there. Might have been a bit tight for much longer stay. It does back up to a school and the classes are remarkably noisy. That was mostly noticeable in the morning, but more an observation, not a huge issue. We would definitely chose Martina al Colosseo on a return visit to Rome.

We actually ended up at Elena al Colosseo because Carlo made a great trade for us to that larger apartment. Found a great little local restaurant around the corner as per Carlo's suggestion. It was terribly convenient to buses and Metro and having an apartment was super. With 3 children we did need the laundry. Everything was nice and we were well seen to. Going this route is definitely the way with a family because at the end of a long day everyone had some space to chill; we weren't crammed in a hotel room. Thanks to Carlo for all his attentions!

We found the apartment to be as per advertised, but perhaps a little difficult to find.We were welcomed by Sergio & found a big bowl of fruit & various other food & related items in the fridge & cupboards . A nice thought & it really helped us to settle in.We are a family of three people (ie 2 adults & one 12 yo child) & found it to be a reasonably good size....but i wouldn't suggest more than 3 people being there for any length of time.Would suggest an internet connection be connected but otherwise all the essentials are in the apartment. Its an interesting area with good shopping facilities for all the basic items. Some good eating houses off main road. Location is ideal but for novice travellers it might be a little daunting..at least initially.Dont be put off by the apartments surroundings..its how Rome after all!We were there just before christmas so like most peak periods its quite busy around the general area & prices reflected that! Our family of five truly enjoyed the visit to Rome and our stay at Apartment Martina Colosseo. The Colosseum is visible from the front door of the building proving the location is perfect and close to the ancient Roman sites. There is a Metro stop only 2 minutes walking distance from the apartment making public transportation very easy to use a city map was provided at the apartment. We appreciated the space the apartment provided for our 3 teenage children. We were pleasantly surprised with the supplies provided in the kitchen - food, appliances and dishes. This was a very pleasant apartment and I was pleased to find that there was a lift to the 5th floor. We were given a key ring with about 6 keys on it. We felt very secure but the need for so many locks (outer door, gate, inner gate, door to our landing, 2 keys to our door) was rather intimidating. There was a school in the same building (or right next to it) so it got rather noisy around 7:30-8:30am; not a problem for my party but late sleepers beware! Our contacts - Carlo (email correspondent) and Sergio (met us at the apt) were friendly, attentive and eager to please. The only hitch in our stay was the difficulty in finding the path up from the Colosseo side (Fiori Imperiale)to the apartment. The path is inconspicuous from the street and we walked right past it on two separate occasions - early evening both times. The approach from the Via Cavour side was much easier but out of the way if you are near the Colosseo. All in all, this was an excellent apartment and I would recommend it to visitors in Rome.

Very well maintained Apartment. Very nice welcoming. Mr.Sergio was a very nice man. He explained everything very patiently. We were happy to see fruits and bread with butter, jelly and milk for use.

Overall we had a great time, the apartment was excellent. It really is just across the street from the Colosseum and is surrounded by nice bars and restaurants. The well stocked fridge and fruit bowl was a pleasant surprise. The only drawback was the fact that it is adjacent to a school and can be noisy in the mornings due to the classroom windows being opened because of the heat.

Excellent location just blocks from the ancient ruins. Central location made moving from site to site very easy. Extremely close to the metro station. Rooms were small, but clean and easily accommodated our group of 5. Sergio was wonderful to work with, made sure we had both his cell and home phone numbers for questions and even provided water, baked goods and fruit to the apartment. Security was very good as well. Allowed us to stow our luggage until the room was complete so we could begin exploring the area as soon as we arrived. Would stay here again.

Fantastic location in an older apartment building but felt very much a part of the area. There was a school next door which had music classes at around 9.00 which was fine as we were getting ready to head out. If you wanted to be in the apartment for large parts of the day the noise may be distracting. We were a family of four - 2 adults and 2 teenagers and it was a tight fit. 2 double beds and one daybed but the location was great - walking out of the door to see the Colosseum just at the end of the lane. Very close to the Metro station and good little eating places in close proximity. Very tidy and clean but don't expect it to be ultra-modern - but that is part of the charm. People looking after the apartment were very helpful especially with airport transfers. Would definitely go there again.

Appartement très bien placé avec tout le confort. Les propriétaires nous ont gentiment mis à disposition un lit parapluie pour notre bébé. Nous le conseillons vivement.

The apartment was clean & modern and close to the colusseum/forum and right above Collosseo Subway station. There was a generous selection of food items in the apartment on our arrival which was a nice surprise. (Bread rolls, crispbread, jams, milk fruit, butter, some eggs, coffee & tea, drip-filter & stove-top espresso coffee makers) If you are a family of 5 with teenage kids you might find it a bit small, but being in Rome you should only be there to sleep anyway. The bedding is double bed in the master bedroom, double bed in the lounge, and the couch in the lounge sleeps 1.

We liked the location which is smack in front of the colosseum. Its superb location saves us a lot of time in travelling. There is also a shop within 5 mins walk which has internet access for e1.00 per hour. There is also a bar nearby which sells great paninis and sandwiches at a very good price. On our first day, we noted that the leg of the bed frame was wobbly. It was fixed by the end of the day. Security was also good because we had to go through 2 gates which is automatically locked.

This was not what we had been promised online. It was not the same place as described to us. We had a party of 5; 3 adults, 2 children. There were not enough beds to begin with, let alone the promise of 3 bedrooms. There were three rooms but only one bedroom. We were also told that we could not use the air conditioner. It was stifling hot in Rome at the time... so, we ignored the rule. There were not enough towels and pillows but, they did provide them upon request. The owners were very polite but, we were quite disappointed never-the-less. Building is charming and well renovated. We would probably have a different review had there been enough beds/bedrooms; or we were travelling with less people.

we received a good briefing on the property, and the address of the nearest tourist office for tourism info. Breakfast/coffee/fruit etc was supplied. There were adequate utensils/crockery in the kitchen. Credit card facility did not work, so full cash payment was required The property was not suitable for 4 adults
