We stayed at the Retezova between Christmas and New Years. We wanted to experience other than a "chain" hotel. This hotel is quite small, but right in the old town of Prague, so easy walk to many of the sights. Lovely city (but cold this time of year!). Triple room was small, loft with Q and T bed, steep stairs (ladder)down to main floor with kitchenette/small sitting room and small bathroom. Sitting room furniture not at all comfortable, but we were out most of the time anyway. We had a great time.

We were upgraded to a 2BR loft, fabulous room built into a very old building. The ancient exposed beams provided a unique experience - and I didn't hit my head. The staff were also very helpful, shame about the wifi.

We found the property (Residence Retezova) very good and convenient for our short stay in Prague. It is a residence apt and very well maintained. Fantastic location not much light or views unless one is on the TOP floor. But good in house facilities with adequate stocks of coffee, milk, sugar and a minibar. The Manager Magdalena was there when we checked in at about 9.30pm. The initial room offered was not very good as it was right next to the reception and one window opened out to a restaurant. She showed us other vacant rooms and had no objection to the change. The night reception person Jan, helped us with our bags and was very pleasant. We had asked for an airport pick up and there was a taxi with our name on it. The driver was very helpful and courteous (Thomas). The amount (25 Euros) was paid by the Hotel and charged to our bill. In the booking it seems breakfast was NOT included, but Magdalena said that she would include coffee and one croissant each during our stay at the next door Cafe Ebel. This worked out OK but it would have been nice if Venere could have clarified this at time of booking. Ebel is cafe right next door and remained open from 8am onwards. Whatever we took extra was charged to our room. The day receptionist Alesh, helped us with tram tickets, concert bookings, maps, brochures, thai massage, local guide hire and many other things. He even helped me print out our plane tickets for the return flight.Magdalena also gave us a complementary bottle of water on the first night, and was very pleasant throughout and on the 3rd day we found a big bowl of fresh fruit and more water!! She also suggested breakfast places near by and also gave us info on grocery stores and TESCO. Alseh sent off our postcards and added stamps. They also took messages for us. The Retezova is very well located with ATM machines, restaurants, an ice parlour, and the OLD Town square and the Charles Bridge 2-3 minutes away! We had to leave at 05.30AM for our return flight and th

Our visit was a surprise for my mothers birthday. She is extremely fussy about cleanliness and I mean extremely fussy. As a result I spent ages searching for the right hotel and we were not disappointed. My mother said she would recommend the hotel to anyone, which is no mean feat for them to receive her approval. The apartments were really clean, spacious, very warm (we actually had to open the windows in december). The building was immaculately clean and smelt fantastic,(strange comment but you will know what I mean if you stay there) very warm and cosy. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The cafe next door was nice and the breakfast was lovely. The location of the hotel is excellent, it is about a 3 minute walk to either the charles bridge or the old town square yet the street on which the hotel is located was quiet. I had never stayed in an apartment like this before and I was not sure what to expect, but it was basically an apartment with all the service of a hotel. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone. On arrival we were also given an upgrade from the paris apartment to the New york apartment at no additional cost. The pictures on the website were accurate but I know that sometimes although the pictures look nice the actual furniture when you get there may be a little more shabby and worn than expected, not this hotel. The pictures were accurate and I can not fault the hotel as a whole. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent, would definately stay there again.

We had an excellent stay in the Rio de Janeiro room. The hotel is located downtown and is accessible to all the sites with less than 10 min walk! We must say we found the personnel is very friendly. The cafe associated with hotel (EBEL) provided us with an excellent breakfast. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to visit Praha!

The staff was very friendly and always helpful in answering our questions about Prague. Our room was very clean, very quiet, and right in the center of Old Town. I would absolutely recommend Residence Retezova.

Excellent staff. Each welcomed us with warm hospitality. High quality, small property on dead end street w/modern amenities in an historic setting. Clean and comfortable unique rooms. We stayed in the Rio de Janerio-on two levels in the back corner of the property with a courtyard. The bedroom and bath is on the ground level & foyer, kitchenette, TV area is on first level. Central, quiet location (except people above packing and leaving very, very early in the morning). In Old Town, very difficult to reach by car b/c a maze of one way streets. Overall, an excellent choice. We highly recommend. If driving, save some time and get explicit directions.

Residence Retezova is an excellent location for sight-seeing in Prague. It is just a few minutes walk from the Charles Bridge and Old Town Square. Only negative was that access to sleeping accomodation in our room was by a rather steep ladder. This room would not suit heavy drinkers !

Rooms are large, very clean and beautiful especially for families. However, we were quoted in Euros and they charged us in local currency at an unfavorable exchange rate so the quote was not accurate. Also, we were guaranteed one apartment and given another so you need to be careful to make sure you get the room type you ask for.

The location of this property is excellent; within a couple of blocks of the Old Town Square. It was difficult to find, due to the complexity of the narrow, one way streets in Old Town. we parked within a couple of blocks and then had to stop at other small hotels to ask directions -- twice. Once there, we saw how best to bring our car and belongins. (Parking is a big problem in the Old Town area, but we were shown where there is overnight on-street parking as well as a huge, expensive underground lot; both are far from the hotels including this one along the river). Our suite fronted on the narrow walking street, and it was necessary to have the windows opened. There is a bar perhaps 50 meters away, which can be loud. Fortunately about 10 pm, the bar closed and the street quieted down for the night. Most rooms in this converted historic structure do not face the street and would be very quiet. Unfortunately, their only room for 4 adults suitably priced was the one we took. This suite had a fold out sofa in the large living room, and a regular bed in the adjoining, smaller bedroom. The sofa bed was not too comfortable. There were two baths, one with shower and he other with tub. And, there is a small kitchen. The floors were wood and the furnishings nice. All in all, the suite was nicer than I had anticipated. But again, location was the real bonus. The hotel claimed to have wireless internet access, but my efforts to get connected on my laptop were unsuccessful, both in the room, with cable (no 5 prong outlet) or even in the lobby with its supposed wireless feed. The hotel staff tried to help, but the result was the same.

The staff was friendly and gave us useful tips on what to see and do during our stay in Praha. Only suggestion would be to have another mirror in the room. Other than that, everything was great. I'd come again, without any hesitations. Thank you for making our stay in Praha so enjoyable.
