Mariela Hotel Apartments - Polis

This hotel exceeded in many ways our expectations. It is one of the best relationship price/quality we ever found in Mediterranean countries. This family hotel is very welcoming full of charm and the swimming pool is one of the cleanest we have had the chance to see really a pleasure.

These apartments are located in a lovely little town in Cyprus. It is within walking distance of brilliant restaurants and bars. The apartment was very clean and spacious and the personnel very friendly. the price of our stay was very very good and there were also 2 (if small) swimming pools, which guests could use. To be recommended

It wasn't easy to locate. There's no map on Venere.com. So, I've found the right direction after interrogating several people. But the property is just perfect if we take into account the rate - 28 euro with breakfast. The room is spacious and clean (though quite old but it seems OK). The parking is huge. There's a pool. The lobby is also very spacious. It's right in center of charming town. Would be nice to get back!

Management very helpful and friendly. Basic, clean facitities. Very competitively priced. Only stayed one night as travelling, but would be happy to return.

Nice family run hotel with two swimming pools, relaxed atmosphere. In the middle of small town Polis, within walking distance, 15 minutes, to the beach.

We used this hotel as an overnight base so were not particularly picky and were looking for something clean and cheap. So this hotel was a good choice for us though for a longer stay I'd prefer something more modern and with better facilities. Overall, good value for money.

These folks are extremely welcoming and helpful. I would definitely go back.

We stayed two nights and used the place as a base to explore the surrounding areas. Very comfortable accomodation and we do plan to return and have a week there in the spring. The owners were very helpful and friendly.

We stayed in Mariela Hotel between October 8 and 15 2007. This was our first visit to Cyprus. It took about 2 and 1/2 hours to drive to Polis from Larnaca airport. The day before arrival the manager of the hotel e-mailed us instructions how to find the hotel, so it was easy. Welcoming was cordial, we spent some time chatting with manager and were offered free drinks. The room on third floor was really spacious with kitchen facility in short corridor next to the door. However the equipment with kitchen utensils was somewhat scanty. What was missing in comparison with website information was computer with internet access and DVD player, as well as free coffee and tea making facility. The room had local A/C, but it was available only for extra charge 2.5 CYP pounds/day (minimum hire 6 days), the same applied to a fan (1.5 CYP pounds/day). We did not opt for it, because most of days we spent outside and night temperatures were bearable, but during summer it would be annoying. Another discrepancy with website information was breakfast: there was no buffet, continental, cold plate or English breakfast was available on request and small extra charge. The public areas are nice, but pools are much smaller than they appear on photographs (smart use of a wide angle lens. There were only a few guests in the hotel, so it was reasonably quiet, however there was some noise from adjacent main road and cars parking under our balcony. Good supermarket is just about 150 meters from the hotel and town center with many restaurants in walking distance of about 5 minutes. There is not much to see and do in Polis itself, but it is an excellent starting point for trips: beautiful Akamas peninsula, Troodos mountains, Paphos among others. A car is a must.
