Family of 3 stayed for 2 nights in May. Beautiful surroundings and building. Staff were very responsive and friendly. Room was very nice, tho somewhat narrow for 3. Our air conditioning did not work properly; it was not an issue for us, as it was fairly cool temps at night and were able to keep windows open. Ate one dinner at the restaurant and it was great. The chef was able to improvise and provide my wife with a vegetarian meal that was not on the menu. Prices were actually very reasonable, which we were NOT expecting, given the fact that the hotel itself is rather expensive. Would not hesitate to recommend the hotel overall; it was a wonderful experience. Our favorite memory is probably sitting on the beautiful grounds enjoying a bottle of wine and the wonderful 180-degree view of the valley and the walled city of old Perugia.

Great hideaway. Beautiful property. If you are looking for a little getaway with all the bells and whistles and with the castle in the country feel and still with access to all that Italy's towns have to offer this is the spot.

We stayed for 2 nights and loved it! Stone castle walls inside and out, frescoes, wooden beam ceilings, rooftop terrace, breakkfast overlooking a panoramic vista, beautiful grounds, delicious food--i can't think of anything i didn't like. We didn't have a car but the centre of town was a short taxi ride away. Would definitely recommend the Castello if you are travelling in the area of Perugia. We travelled by train to Perugia from Rome, stayed at the castle for two nights, then hopped on the train to Venice.

We stayed at the hotel during the Perugia jazz festival. It was a 10 minute car journey into the town so very convenient and a lovely escape from the hustle and bustle of the festival. The hotel and surroundings are beautifully kept and very tranquil. The staff are friendly and discreet and whatever you need, they will make it happen. Hotel breakfasts are excellent, as were the simple lunches and delicious dinners. We couldn't have wanted for more and we will definitely go back another year.

We chose the Castello di Monterone Residenza d'Epoca based on reviews and general location and the novelty of staying in an old castle. We stayed just one night and found the castle to be very interesting and a very nice hotel facility. The only negative was the actual location, since we got lost driving from there to the old town of Perugia, then got lost again returning to the hotel. Of course that was all at night. In fact, even to get there initially the front desk clerk (Anna if I remember right) actually got us to remain on the phone as she directed us from the old area where we thought it was, directing us for turns as though she could see them with us and through the several miles to the castle. The room was spa-like and a good combination of very old and very new, with the most comfortable bed of our trip (5 hotels and a cruise ship). We enjoyed walking around the castle outside and then taking the elevator to the roof and walking around and then down the stairs to see each of the floors. It was a very interesting place, with a long history and nice updating as a hotel, and we recommend it as long as you're not booking it thinking it is convenient to sightseeing in Perugia (the route we had trouble with). Of course once you got used to it, even that would be okay, but it wasn't close. By the way, they had a nice restaurant with a nice breakfast, but the restaurant was closed for dinner the night we were there.

The stay was magnificent. The room and the two restaurants were wonderful. Our only problem was that it was difficult to drive to the hotel. (The desk clerk had to guide us through each turn by mobile phone.)

This is by far the coolest hotel we have ever stayed in. It was the first hotel that I actually took pictures of. The grounds were superb for a nice stroll and the architectural details of the building, inside and out made the castle like feeling all the more memorable. I would recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway or a wedding.
