Mr. Karraz was very welcoming and I really liked my little apartment style room. Wish I could have stayed longer but I was passing through. Mr. Karraz let us store our luggage in his office for most of the day after check out even though he really doen't have a lot of space for that, when we came back to pick it up they wouldn't even accept a tip for holding it! I would stay there again.

The location itself is superb - in between two Metro stations and within easy walking distance of most of the inner city attractions of Paris. The rooms are small, but the bathrooms and kitchenette areas have been recently refurbished and since you're a couple of blocks away from Rue de Montorgueil (filled with boulangeries, boucheres and delicatessens), food isn't an issue. If you don't want to cook, there are so many cafes in the district, the choice can be overwhelming. The downsides? It looks a but rundown from the outside (but don't let that put you off - you're not paying for the Novotel). Wifi is available, but is intermittent on the higher floors. The hotel suffers from being next to the construction site that is the Forum des Les Halles - which means that you will hear construction noise during the day and into the evening. But don't let that put you off - that is what earplugs are for. The hotel doesn't have a lift but instead a set of narrow stairs, so moving luggage up and down can be problematic (particularly if you are on your own) - but you do get a good workout. In all, I would certainly return - the owners were very helpful and helped with storing my luggage on the day I was due to leave. But the location and the cooking facilities within the rooms are really the draw card for me - in central Paris within easy walk or Metro ride of where you want to go. If you like cooking, rue de Montorgueil is a fantastic experience. A highly enjoyable visit.

Clean room and bathroom, comfortable beds. Noise from outside the hotel at night and early in the morning. Ear-plugs are nice to have.

The owner - Mr. Karraz is very helpful and pleasant. The room we got was #1 and it was very spacious, with a bathroom (tight, but adequate) and a kitchenette. We had a great time - the facilities were great and the location was prime. The only downside is the cost. We paid €110/night. I think the fair price is closer to €90/night. But we decided to bite the bullet to have a comfortable stay in Paris and we got just that. So if the fact that it's slightly on the pricier side doesn't deter you, then Karraz is a wonderful place to stay.

Excellent location for amenities and shops. Noisy at night until very late. Street cleansing and bin collection early in morning. Difficult access to rooms via stairway. Would be difficult with heavy bags and/or for people who are slightly infirm. Rooms very spacious and have good cooking facilities but bathroom old and needs refurbishment. Shower cubicle very small. Reception not open at all times when hotel full. Overall however positives out way negatives. I would stay again if returning to Paris.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Karraz. The location was excellent and Karraz was very friendly and helpful. The only down side was we stayed over the weekend and the noise from the restaurant below was quite loud but after the weekend it was nice and quiet. Would definitely recommend this a place to stay to see the sights of Paris. Very convenient location.

We had a family room for 4 people. we would like to say that we spent 4 happy nights in this hotel. The owner of the hotel is very friendly and very helpful. whenever we have questions and requirements, the owner was doing his best to help us. In the last day, he even walked us to a metro station for heading to the Bert station. I would like to stay in this hotel in my next Paris visit.

Our welcome by the owner, Karraz, couldn't have been more friendly. He let us check in early and he personally showed us where the local supermarket and ATM was. The room was large for this area of Paris with a double and single bed. it was clean and very useful (with a toddler) having a fridge and microwave. The shower was powerful. The only real noise from the room was one morning bin men - otherwise very peaceful. The stairs were narrow and spiral but totally fine for us as we could leave our buggy in the hall at the bottom with a locked door. Security was good with only the 5 guests having the doorcode access. As previously mentioned, no breakfast facilities, but with a cheap supermarket, a fridge and multiple bakeries and cafes, it really isn't needed. The location is excellent - 10 min walk from the Louvre, right next to the Metro and very close to the bus. We felt safe in the area. We would recommend this hotel to friends, family and total strangers!

Staying at this hotel the owner Mr Karraz was fantastic. whenever we needed anything he would help us out, allowed us to use his computer when we had a flight problem and call home to Australia on his phone. He gave us travel tips, places to see and was very lovely. The room was spacious (rare for paris) with a kitchen, clean sheets and nicely decorated. so close to chatelet les halles train station the main train station to get on any subway line and also to the airport. great cafe and restaurants just around the corner. Favourite hotel of the 5 week trip!

Room was very large by Paris standards, 15 min walk from the Louvre. Hotel owner was extremely accommodating, friendly, and spoke French, some English, and I believe the third was Farsi. Between the kitchenette (toaster, microwave, stove top, sink, basic disk/cookware, fridge, toaster) and the Monoprix (Chain of grocery stores) just a little North of us we saved a lot of money. Also, the hotel is right beside Les Forrums Des Halles which has a major Metro hub there, making public transit very convenient. We didnt' spend too much time in our immediate area (not very nice/interesting) but being in the dead center of Paris we pretty much got to see the entire city (10 days). We had satellite but there were only a one or two English channels (good for checking the weather, that's about it). Rooms have very large windows (although no view to speak of) and pretty good beds. All in all the rooms are not decorated well or fancy, but we were looking for cheap, clean, well located accommodations and I think for those purposes this is one of the best choices in Paris. Pictures on venere.com gave a very accurate portrayal. Word of Caution: All rooms are accessed by a narrow spiral staircase. If you are older or have difficulty with mobility you will find these stair very challenging. There is not public area/food in the hotel, but lots of bakeries, cafes, etc. Internet cafe around the corner as well, and for international trains the station is a 15-20 walk North.

This isn't your "Romantic Getaway Hotel" but it is an excellent choice for someone who wants to stay in the heart of Paris for cheap. This hotel fits in a crack between two larger buildings. Formerly it was an apartment with 5 floors - five rooms. Each room has a kitchenette so you can cook if you want to save even more. Our room had a double bed and a single twin...was small but clean. The shower was 22"x22"...tiny! and the spiral stairway up was a hoot... ask for lower room as it is steap and "one way". This tiny hotel and great find is just one block from the Metro - easy transportation - you can do it! But the main thing is it's location ...within walking distance to the louvre and it is in a "no car" section where there is pedestrian shopping only... so it is really quite quite...except for the occassional loud and happy group passing buy on the street below...but even this street is a side street to knowwhere and is much quieter than most. I advise taking a GPS and programming their address. Or at least knowing the name of the street that it crosses to the south, because no cab driver could get me there- exactly - just generally because there is not Auto Traffic. I just had my GPS on and would say "this is good enough." No AC either. You will have the window open...so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper, or a tiny fan for noise. Iyad Karraz (owner) is extreemly nice and helpful, you can understand 90% of what he is saying. He explained how to use the Metro, took us to a bank for ATM knowhow, etc. With only five rooms, he was freer than most. He also gave us his cell phone if we needed anything. Oh, yeah! Learn how to use the Paris bike system. For a Euro, you can use a bike most of the day and return it to any one of hundreds of bike lock stands around the city...very cool way to see the town. We however could not figure out the machine to rent a bike until the last evening. Your credit card goes in backwards from the USA.
