The place is awful, uncomfortable and not clean. Nobody talks English, the reception is closed at night. The room smell very bad, the bathroom was full of water of the dusche. The ceiling was dry because of the rain. I do not suppose that this place has legal license to be a hotel/hostel. Venere should not recommend this place.

First they wanted to charge me euro instead of total dollars on my reservation sheet. I asked for a quieter room, they switch me to a 3-person room costed more money with confirming with me. I am very disappointed.

I am a frequent visitor in Paris and i have been to alot of "paris cheap" hotels. but this is definetly the worst hotel i have ever been to. The room were seemingly fine overall when we first came, just until when night came. We stayed in room 102 just above a turkish restaurant (which also works as the lobby). At night the volume level was so loud from the restaurant and the street, that the only way to fall asleep was to buy earplugs. The worst yet to come. In the middle of the night we woke up coughing. The room filled with cigarette smoke coming up through the floors from down under. I tried to complaint but the "lobby" was closed until the restaurant opened again. To breathe at night we had to open the windows and sleep in the cold. This hotel is not worth the money or your health.

The hotel is very well located, very close to the metro and literally within walking distance from most tourist sites. Only downside was carrying luggage to the 3rd floor without an elevator...

Because it is cheap, so it's ok. But many things are broken. They don't speak English. But the receptionist is a nice person. Near by the M8.4.9 station but line M8 is fixing now.

We were quite happy with the location of the hotel (there's a metro stop nearby and for example Seine, Canal St. Martin and Railway Station are all within walking distance). It's not the nicest area of Paris but not the worst either. The staff didn't speak English and we had to pay for our stay upon our arrival. The owner gave us a code for the door and so we could come and go as we liked. Our room was quite spacious (including a little kitchenette: a fridge, a stove, some plates etc.) and it was cleaned and towels (very small!) were changed on a daily basis. The shower didn't stay in upright position and the hairdryer was a bit broken as well. The hotel is situated on a busy street so there was a lot of noise. The double bed we had was actually two single beds put together which was a bit uncomfortable. However, we managed to sleep well. All in all having read the other comments beforehand we didn't have big expectations about this hotel and in the end we were quite satisfied with it. Good value for money.

Very bad experience. The owner was nice but only speak french. The tolliet did not work was broken, the stairs very narrow (no elevator) the walls broken, drop water from the cieling, very noisy, the door of the bathroom broken. It do not deserve to be called a hotel. I would NEVER go back! Pesima experiencia. Tome fotos. No puede llamarse un hotel. No regresarìa JAMAS.

The hotel has his pros and cons. The rooms are clean but they forgot to clean our room for 3 days until we complain about it. The manager and only contact in the hotel doesn't speak English or Spanish and it is not very friendly. It is allowed to smoke in the room so sometimes you have the smell in the room. The rooms to the street are a quite noisy. Apart of the problem that I have the cleaness is very good everywhere. Every room has a small kitchen but every room has different thing on it. We found a plate in one room and a pot to boil water in another room. Good location and shops and metro station very close.

For the trip to Paris, aiming only for a bed to sleep in, the hotel was perfect. Perfect located, only short walk from Gare de Nord, arriving from CDG airport. Metro just around the corner, line 4 and 8, which also matched our preferences on sightseeing. Nice restaurants, café´s and easy access supermarkets just outside. If/when returning to Paris I would most certain consider this hotel.

The position of the hotel is very closed to the center and the place is nice and clean. The only thing which should be improved is having some curtains that keep the room darker by night and some windows that block all the noise of traffic: these two problems made it hard to have a relaxing night of sleep.

Me and my husband stayed here for 8 nights in early September. The check-in was quite smooth considering that we didn't speak any French nor did the staff at the downstairs restaurant that served as the reception speak any English at all. Nevertheless, we were given a key and a code for the door to the apartments. The room was basic but spacious, bed, telly and nightstands, spotlessly clean, as was the wc and shower, good power and hot water at any time. We found the kitchenette very convenient for our snacks and breakfast. We did have breakfast at the downstairs resturant on two mornings although hadn't requested it in advance, but the kind lady cleaning the restaurant went out of her way to arrange for us to have tea, croissants, toast, jam and juice even though we hadn't booked the breakfast beforehand. The cost was only 5E. I must also add that the neighbourhood was quiet, we had to keep our window open because the weather was very hot during our stay and we still managed to have a good night's sleep. No noises from the other rooms at all. Finally, there are plenty of self-catering options within the block, we had take-away indian and kebabs a couple of nights, very good value with a good bottle of wine bought from the nearby Monoprix. Metro station 100m:s away, 4 lines, easy to navigate around the city. Would definately recommend to anyone wishing to have the convenience of apartments at a bargain price but still near to the sights. Oh, and by the way, the restaurant downstairs serves very good North African food at extremely reasonable prices :)

First of all good location for visiting Paris on foot. The room was clean, but cooking corner had no equipement like kettle, cups etc, so if you want to make some coffe or tea, you should have your own. There was the noise of the traffic, so the hotel is not calm. But we spent almost all day out of the hotel so it was not so annoying.

we couldnt have stayed in a better hotel. we stayed ther for 6 nights and spent most of the time outside. it was very easy for us to travel as metro just round the corner and you can say that from our metro line you could go almost everywhere and that was very important. however the hotel staff wher so friendy. we had no plug with to charge our camera and the person who showed us up to our room grabed his car and went to buy one for us. extra towels where given when asked for the room was always cleaned and tidied. the location was the best it was close to everything and we had loads of shops, restaurants, including kfc, mc.donalds and so much more. food was cheap and even the shops in the shops in our area had alot of cheap prices. we did most of our shopping there. i would highly recomend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a cheap comfortable stay to go around paris. only downfall no lift. on the whole very satisfied.

The maid kept coming in very early and returned about 3 times even though we suggested not to return until midday. We were effectively kicked out of the room on the Sunday morning at 11.00 because of the pressure for her to clean - I was under the impression that we could stay until 12.00 however with no reception for the hotel you wouldn't have been able to question that anyway. For the price and location, you get what you pay for...

Rooms are clean. Hotel is good situated, near 2 metro stations and 2 train station (nord and l'est). In a few meters, there are restaurants (good hindu food in Brady, good turkish, japanese...).Only a little noisy the room (in the nights, a lot of cars in the street, is good to take earplug to dream well). Service are very kindly (in the restaurant). If we return Paris with little money, we return to this hotel.

Positive: The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. In particular they arranged for a taxi pickup at 5:30 am so we could make our departing flight. The hotel was very close to a Metro station and numerous shops and restaurants. Negative: Nearly everything in the room was broken! The door to the refrigerator fell out onto the floor! The shower was broken and sprayed water in all directions. The shower curtain ended 8 inches above the rim of the shower enclosure, so it was impossible to use the shower without flooding the floor. The built-in tables (3) were all falling off the walls and could be used only with extreme care.

I can strongly recommend this hotel to budget travellers! Location is excellent, very close to 4 metro lines, within walking distance (a longer walk) from Gare D'Nord and Gare d'Est, lots of shops and supermarkets in the area. Very clean bathroom, towels, bedsheets, a working kitchenette and fridge. If you want to cook some simple meals in the room as we did, you need to bring your own utensils (pan, cutlery, mugs etc). On the negative side (but it applies to most Paris hotels!): extremely thin walls, so if you have noisy neighbours, you need some earplugs.. We had room 104, which was not facing the street and restaurant (so lovely quiet in terms of city noise) but very dark instead. Also, the room is really tiny, but for this price I still think it's worth it! There is no reception, all check-in etc matters are resolved by competent staff in the Chez-Saiid restaurant on ground floor. Staff was very helpful, though didn't really speak English :) Overall rating - 9/10, as the hotel cleanness, location and possibility of having own breakfast and coffee in the room were the most important factors for us :)

The cleanliness was pretty good, and they attended to making the beds and providing new towels every day. However, it was right above a restaurant and therefore was very noisy until the wee hours of the night. It was difficult to sleep during that time. The walls were very thin and we could hear the guests who lived next door talk, and could even listen to what they watched on tv, so it wasn't very peaceful. Our tv wasn't working, it was extremely boring doing nothing when we were in the room. There is also no ventilation in the room, no fans etc. We had to resort to opening the windows which didn't have locks, and that would also let in the noise from the restaurant and when people walked up the stairs. Another bad thing about the room was that there were cracks in the walls, and even some of the furniture that was nailed to the wall had collapsed, leaving holes in the wall and the table leaning just against the wall on the floor. It wasn't a very pleasant stay. The location wasn't too bad, it's just 3/4 stops from Gare du Nord. Many cheap places to eat around the area too.

The hotel is fine if all you do in the room is sleep. After about 15 minutes you get used to the smell and the beds are clean. Most people of the hotel do not speak any English and the one who does called us one night at 1 am to ask us if we could come down and pay. Very strange. Location is good though; walking distance to major sights.

We had a few problems firstly the T.V in the room wasn't working but they gave us a free bottle of wine to compensate. The room was very stuffy and had very little natural light. The toilet started to leak and they quite rudely suggested that we were to blame. Evetually they relocated us to another of their hotels which was a lot nicer. The original room also smelt of the restaurant below! Overall not a pleasant experience to start but was rectified quite quickly.

OK for a low budget trip. The room was small and the shower didn't have a curtain. The room had a fridge but it did nothing but noise. The drinks outside were as cold as the drinks inside. The rooms are clean and our room was away from the main street, so it wasn't too noisy at night. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from east station and about 2 minutes walk from a metro station. Notre Dame and Louvre are about 30 minutes to walk.

I reserved a triple room but by the time we checked in only needed a double but the hotel refused to adjust the price saying the rate was for the room and not the number of people. When making the reservation the site quoted a higher price for 3 people than for two. There should have been some adjustment to the rate at check out.

The hotel was very clean. It is being renovated, and our refrigerator did not work. We had our own bathroom, but the toilet was so close to the wall you had to sit sideways on it. Promises to bring another refrigerator were not kept. The cleaning people were very good and helpful. The manager was generally pleasant, but at times seemed put out by our requests. None of the employees were fluent in English, so it was difficult to communicate. The hotel is above a restaurant. There is no lobby, and we did not meet any other visitors there.

Decent location- not all that scenic in itself, but an easy walk to the pedestrian part of Rue St Denis & the Centre Pompideu, a medium-long but easy walk to Notre Dame, and just a block away from a Metro stop. Friendly staff. Helpful to know some french. Our double bed was two singles next to eachother, which would be OK if they had a single sheet and blanket over them- instead they were made separately, and when we tried re-arranging the linens, we still ended up with one person sliding down the gap between the beds when we slept. Walls are thin, can hear neighbors and some noise from the courtyard. Fridge didn't work (the light went on, but it wouldn't chill, no matter what the setting). Kitchenette had stove, but no pots & pans, or plates- perhaps one has to ask management? Still, was glad to have an inexpensive and private place to stay, the tub was nice to soak in after a long day of walking. (No shower curtain means the bathroom gets rather soaked when showering!)

the hotel lacks a dedicated reception area, while using the restaurant downstairs to manage the rooms. When we arrived at 3pm in the afternoon, the restaurant was closed, nobody answered the phone and replied to the buzzer. Hence we were left stranded there in the road with no ways of entering the hotel (luckily, after a while, we ran into the cleaning girl who opened the door and tracked down the hotel manager). UNACCEPTABLE. Rooms are small but location is very good. The lack of service and support is, unfortunately, a big no-go!

At first I was confused about where the entrance to the hotel was - it appeared to be only a restaurant. I actually got a code for entering the door next to it so I never had to go through any common areas during my stay. It really was like living in my own flat, especially with the kitchionette in the room. My one major complaint was that it was impossible to dial out so I had to use a nearby cabine to call home, usually at night to account for the time difference. Aside from that a few lights were out and it was easy to hear through the walls, but overall I enjoyed my stay and would reccomend it to anyone who wants to stay in Paris and feel like you're actually living there.
