This is second time to stay this apartment, i.e., we like here. Supermarket is next door and open untill midnight (if my memory is correct, open for 8:30-24:30). You can also get good foods cooked ready for eating at the department store just 7 min walking distance. The room was very warm while we stayed winter time. The location is not so bad, i.e., not too far from train station and bus terminal. The cost performance is very good. If you want to enjoy eating and drinking in the room and not worry about washing dishes, we recommend you to stay. Internet is free of charge, while wave is weak and unstable. I assumed that it was upper floor before, but at this time we were 1st floor and the internet condition was same to previous. Nevertheless, if you would like to relax and enjoy staying, you may not need to use internet whole day. Anyway, you could use e-mail and internet most of time. FYI, bus terminal is under re-construction at the present time, you may need additional 10 min to find tentative bus stop.

We were staying one week. Clean and silence room. Bathroom was big and everything was working well. View was against another building and was not so good. Maybe "Superior room" is too much to say from this room? Grocery was situated next door. Tram stop is one block away.

We rent a two rooms apartament with a sleeping room very large with two single beds, TV and a living room with a sleeping sofa, TV and cooking corner with eletric and microwave owen, four fire place, washing dishes machine, two kinds of cofee machine, toast machine and a really complete assets to cook. Close to the shopping area and a ten minute walk from the seaside, is also a foot step from the railway station. By car we suggest a good gps because there are a lot of one way street. We also suggest to rent a parking (100 mt on the left) because during the week is very difficult to park. We suggest it very much!

The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. It was pretty quite, some traffic noise during the day, but quite minimal at night. The lady managing the hotel was very nice - I was able to get power adapter, shampoo, and wake-up calls from her. There are only two issues - you can smell smoke on the first floor lobby area. The hotel is located at a somewhat seedy area, no problem if you are walking with someone else, but for a single woman walking at night, it probably is not a good idea. The trade-off is that it is close to the train station. In general, the area near the train station is not good. #4 and #17 bus stops in front of the hotel, so it's pretty easy to get to old town area by bus.

The bathroom could do with a bit of a spruce up from the 1970's era (a drain cover in the sink would have been nice) etc Other than that, it was good value. Clean, very friendly, good position, very quiet (I had a back room). PS I didnt inspect the kitchen equipment so I have no idea what that was like. The kitchenette itself was clean No complaints at all Re your questions for available rooms (I have no idea i never checked) strange question!! which has to be answered! (made it up)!

We stayed in a self contained apartment for 4 nights. It was a good size. The smell of cigarette smoke and dog when you entered the building was very unpleasant. It was also frustrating when we arrived at 10pm only to be told that we would be unable to park our car as it was too big (we had a van) and we had to drive around for ages in an unfamiliar area to try and find a parking spot.

Residence Lamartine was a fantastic experience for my husband and me. We stayed in the large 1 bedroom self contained units on level 3 & 4 (as we extended our stay). The location was very central and handy to cinemas, shopping, eateries, beach and tram/rail. The building itself is supurb and very clean inside. I would definitly be going back and hopefully staying for a month next time. Madam was more then helpful and obliging, even locating an english speaking dentist for my husband in an emergency. The only negative would be that the street facing rooms are a bit noisy at night (and only because i insisted on having the doors open for fresh air). Also there were items missing from the inventory of glasses and kitchen utensils, and only one hob worked on the stove top on the 4th level. Routine maintainance would make this place perfect.

My wife and I stayed here for 7 days in Sept 2009. The Lamartine Apts are about 4 blocks from the Nice Ville train station that we arrived at from Avignon. A quick 10 minute walk and we were ready for check in. The building has entry security and all rooms have locks so we felt very safe. The neigbourhood was non threatening. A grocery store was two blocks away. The old town and beach were a 15 minute walk south-about six blocks. We never needed a car since everything is within walking distance or there is convenient public transit within a few blocks. The apt was a very clean, 1 bedroom unit with a seperate living room and kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen had a stove, oven, micro, coffee maker and dishwasher. The street outside is noisy from 6am till 9pm. After 9pm things get very quiet because this is a city of 400,000 people who go back to their suburb homes at night. There was a free internet computer in the lobby. From Nice we took a train to the town of Grasse to visit the perfumery, we took a 9 hour bus tour to medievel EZE, Cannes, Antibes, medievel St Paul, Monaco and Monte Carlo. All these towns are also accessible by train from the train station. The sun shone for the whole week, temps were 28C(80F) in the day and 18C(68F) at night with no humidity - just perfect. We also walk down to the beach and swam, the water is crystal clear, and cool but not cold. The old town has many interesting old areas to explore. This apt would not be of interest to those who want a beachfront location. The apt is 6 blocks north of the beach. It is for people who want to just step off the train and walk to the apt, and, for people who want to use the trains to visit other towns around Nice. Loved our time here, the Lamartine is a great place to stay, it's so convenient and clean and classy. We booked through Venere.com for all our travel through France and the reservations were ready for us when we arrived. We travelled by train from Paris, to Avignon, to

Overall stay enjoyable, the quality of furnishing was satisfactory, and the apartment’s kitchen was well equipped (even had a dishwasher). Didn't like twin mattresses just placed together, a bit uncomfortable to have a huge gap in the middle of the bed. We stayed 5 days and there was no cleaning or towel replacement service during the stay. For the price we paid (EUR 143 per night for two people), I would expect more frequent cleaning. Overall, it was ok experience and would not mind coming back is price was lower.

We staid 5 days in this hotel, we rented a studio flat, with a little kitchen (it has everything, from salt to soap and all that you need to cook) the studio is pretty spacious and with high sealing, the same in the bathroom, super spacious and all very, very clean. and with internet connection. the hotel is very quiet. the hotel is easy to find (thanks google-Map), close to the bus station and the train station and only 10 min away from the beach. in few min from the old town. I highly recommended it and we will be back.

For an independent family, this is an ideal choice. The appartment was clean and had wonderful air con - which in July is a must. The lady in charge of the hotel has been really helpful when our flight was cancelled and had to stay in Nice for another night. She was able to accomodate us for another night although we called her close to midnight (cos reception closes around 7pm). Only negative point is that we stayed for a total of 3 nights and as there is no cleaning of the rooms during the period, we only had 1 toilet roll for the 4 of us, so its a little inconvenient so make sure you guys asked for more when you check in or when the reception is open.

Great place to stay if you are going for a short break to Nice. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms - i think the bigger rooms would be better for a longer stay. It had kitchen facilities in the room so you didnt always have to eat out which was nice.

We liked the Residence Lamartine very much. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The woman who welcomed us was friendly, helpful and spoke English. Location was convenient to train station, bus station, main street (Jean Medicine) and local buses. It was just one block from the Notre Dame church, and maybe 3 blocks from the Monoprix where we bought groceries. It was a fairly long walk down to the old city, beach, and Gare Routier (bus station for buses to Monaco, Eze, and along the Riviera) but there were local buses (1,2,17,and 18) that stopped a couple blocks down Lamartine and went down there. Bus was only 1.3 euro, local and to Eze, Monaco and other Riviera destinations. We definitely would stay there again and recommend it to family and friends. It was a little difficult to find. Just a small sign above the door. The address is correct but we walked right by the first time and local people didn't know when we asked for Lamartine Hotel. Remember it is a residence, apartments, not a hotel.

NO! Wouldn't stay here again. Not the best area to be at night. The owner/operator was rude and unaccomodating. The room was beyond being outdated and extremely small. Bed was old and didn't feel any more comfortable than a sofa bed. We needed to cancel one night of the three night reservation, but she refused to credit us the night. It was so bad of an area & accomodation, I would never return to this place or Nice- no matter how desparete for a place to stay.

The rooms are very clean and neat. We got a room which was away from the road and it was completely silent. The Best part of Lamartine was they have full fledged kitchen, which is very handy when you stay for a week or so. The lady is kind enough to provide basic things like Salt & Washing Soap in the room so you dont need to buy them (take them with you). The Bathroom was very neat and clean. It was much bigger than a regular 4-5 Star hotel which charges you 100+ Euros. The location of the hotel from the map is a little confusing. From Station go to Avenue Jean Meridian and keep walking towards the Beach until you find Notre Dam, take a left turn and at the next junction take another left. The place is right in front of the Bus Stop. The location of this hotel is a little away from the Beach (around 1KM).

We have stayed in various hotels in Nice. This one has been the best so far. Being an appartment, it offered a total independence (own kitchen etc)and a feeling of being at home rather than hotel. Room was very quiet and nice. The bathroom was fantastic - huge and nice. Hotel is one block away from the main shopping area of Nice - Ave Jean Medicin. Beach is 10 min walk. We will definitely stay in this hotel again. I recommend it to anyone who seeks peaceful and independent holidays.

Lovely place. marble staircases adorned with Dali prints and chandaliers isn't what you expect for this price but it's what you get. Rooms were much bigger than the pictures suggest, it's about 5 mins walk from the train station / tourist office, 10 mins walk to the old town, 20 mins walk to the beach and 2 mins from the main shopping street. Couldn't believe our luck. Fully air conditioned, fridge was cold, telly worked, bed was perfect. In all, it was a great stay and well worth the price. You could have stayed in a grotty hotel for the same money. There's a €50 deposit on arrival that wasn't mentioned, but you do get it back once you don't destroy the room. And there's a mad evil looking dog roaming the lobby but don't let him scare you. Woof Woof!

While we arrived Nice, the mainstreet was under construction, this hotel is unknown to most of local people, and most of the road nearby is one way street,so it was very difficult to find by car. By walk is better. Room is not very clean. The most terrible thing for us is, they NEVER clean the room, never change any towel, never take any rubbish no matter how long you stay! We were not informed by Venere or the hotel abt this! No parking place, should park in a public parking house with extra charge. In general We are very dissapointed and do not recommand to stay in this hotel. Leien/Germany
