Geneva Residence - Gaillard

The hotel smells 24/7 like food, and some of the rooms (we had to change several times) smells really hard like tobaco. In some rooms the calefaction wasn't working, and the staff took a lot of time to solve it. It's a bit far from the center of Geneva, but there is a public transport station near the hotel.

better to indicate that it offers private parking inside the building. access to geneva is so near.Wifi very very slow during daytime(7am to midnight)fast only from 1am while maybe all are sleeping.I hope Geneva residence now called Appart hotel will improve it. Hotel is near to everything you need as it is at Gaillard center. Geneva just like 1.5 km away.Hotel is good for family or couple wanting to sometimes cook inside the apartment as there are complete utensils inside plus microwave.

The place is just on the border to Geneva. The hotel surroundings scared us. The door does not open before 4. So if you arrive before 4 good luck waiting outside. We arrived at 3 and were just on time. But we saw many people waiting from 12 or 1 to check in. The hotel room itself is OK. Very spacious. Last stop in the tram 12 and 15. Just few feet away from the stop. Not far from the city but they do not provide you Geneva pass and you end up buying ticket to and fro. Look for hotels in city if you wish to stay for longer duration.

This is a great location if needing to get into Geneva. Trams are a short walk away as are small cafes and bakery. We drove and we found no problem parking on the street or there is an apartment car park that you can use for a fee. The property address was not on our GPS but due to reading other comments we were able to find it. As you cross the boarder form Switzerland to France, it is right there on the right side of the road as soon as you go through the boarder check. Take the first right on the roundabout and then sharp right again as soon as you clear the roundabout. The neighbourhood was a little scary for me. Lots of people loitering though we were there for 2 night/3 days without incident. We travelled with our 10 year old son and 2 beagle dogs. The apartments are quite secure with security getting into the building and riding on the lift. You get what you pay for. I hope this helps.

1) The water stopped working for 24 hours, and the hotel staff did not refund my money. 2) There was a small worm/caterpiller on my bed one night. 3) There was no soap to wash the dishes. 4) When I went to eat breakfast they said I couldn't eat because you had to reserve it the day before, but they never told me that when I checked in. 5) The TV never worked.

Nice place, a little smaller than expected, but great connections into Geneve, with the tram literally outside the front door.

Nice Hotel and good people at reception. Internet Connection bad and "agresive" took control of areas of my PC making it not usable for the rest of the journey.

Please note that the property has changed its name to Appart Valley. (The signage change happened only two days prior to our arrival, so finding the property was a bit difficult). - - - The property is a residence/apartment complex (that also rents by the night)in a rather pleasant mall within 50 yards of a swiss border station. The mall is populated with a variety of shops, and the entrance to the property is between the courtyard and the public parking lot.- - - http://en.venere.com/residences_annemasse/gaillard/residence_residence_porte_de_geneve.html - - - As you may be aware, accomodations for four in a single unit are somewhat rare in parts of Europe, especially in this price bracket, so it was refreshing to have one bedroom with a double bed and a double sofa-bed in the living room. Likewise, the kitchenette was a plus. (There is a bakery and a grocery within 2 blocks). - - - Air conditioning is also rare, so with the windows open on a hot night, there is more noise than one would like early in the morning. Earplugs are a good choice. - - - Between the name change and a street of similar name in Geneva that came up on my GPS, the property was somewhat hard to find. As a word of warning, arrive well before 11pm to check in as the desk closes at 11pm and everything becomes complicated after that. (After 11pm, the atmosphere is more like a card-key-regulated apartment building. There are no staff on site). - - - Likewise the breakfast option must be ordered the evening before or it is unavailable. - - - The secured-parking option is by radio-control in the basement, but there is also a public lot out front. (The lot requires you to put your parking disk on the dash at 8am, but is free). - - - All-in-all it was a pleasant stay for the money. The apartment living would be especially handy for longer stays.
