Vacation Rental Signoria - Florence

The location was absolutely fabulous. Right in the middle of Piazza della Signoria which is the main square in Florence. Lots of great ristorantes and also a small grocery store just off the piazza. Can walk there about 20 min from the train station Firenze SMN. Minutes from Ponte de Vecchio. Walking distance to everything! Pull out couch double bed for the 2 kids (if you are okay with your two kids sharing a bed)---does not have separate single beds for each child and there is a regular bed for the 2 adults. Curtain dividing the two areas. Safe area around location. View from our 4 person room was of the Piazza---amazing. There was no shampoo provided and no blow dryer. Was a little bit hard to find----#6----if standing with back to room, then will be looking at right side of The David replica. Not clear which doorbell to press--not well labelled. The shower pressure was quite weak and tough to wash a thick head of hair! Cash payment is required but this was not noted in advance on the reservation or communicated to us so we had to hustle to change money at a change place on a sunday. Umberto unfortunately was out of town so a housekeeper met us instead and she could benefit from work on her interpersonal skills. The housekeeper said to meet her back at 6pm to give her the cash but she didn't show up until 6:40pm.

We stayed at this lovely apartment during a weekend in spring. It's location is stunning: right at the Piazza Signoria, overlooking the Uffizi and the Palazzo Vecchio. Beats watching TV! We were there with 2 kids, age 7 and 10, and they loved it too. The apartment is basically a one room, seperated with a curtain from the living room. There is a small kitchenette, but who bothers cooking in a town like Florence. Grocery shops and restaurants a plenty in the streets behind the building. However, the kitchennette is suitable to cooksmall dinners and breakfast. All the stuff you need is there, except a microwave, but that's no showstopper. The apartments is on the fourth floor and can be reached by a tiny elevator (max 3 persons). There's reasonably sized bathroom. No bath, but a great shower as well as bidet and toilet. The whole apartment (very clean, great beds!) was recently redecorated in sort of Tuscan style. In short: very tastefull. The owner is a guy who speaks English. You can call him to tell him your exepected time of arrival. He'll be waiting at the terrace downstairs and hand you the keys and a contract. Afterwards, you can leave the keys at the apartment and close the doors behind you. If you want to have the impression what it is to live as a Florentine in Florence, this is a great place to stay. One small rant: at night there are many musicians playing at the Piazza, near the Uffizi. Extremely noisy, loud PA's and utterly boring songs (Everly Brothers, Beegees). What's worse: they'll play for 30 minutes, collect some cash, have a 15 minte break, and then start again with the same songs over and over again! Goes on until approx 00: 00 am, so if your kids go to bed early, be aware. Final warning: don't go by car! There's no way to park in the immidiate vicinity of this property (or in the whole centre of Florence for that matter). There's a garage @ 5 minutes walking distance, but that will cost you approx 24 euro's / day.
