The sleeping room was great - spacious, cool, huge wooden beams below the ceiling. Especially during the morning hours it was everything but quiet though. A big disappointment was the bath - we had booked the deluxe apartment with jacuzzi and what we got were a bath tub and a bidet (pretty much like on the photos of the normal bath rooms - with the slight difference that of the eight light bulbs only one was working). For the price of a jacuzzi, mind you. An even bigger disappointment though was the so-called breakfast: two slices of zwieback in plastic, one small pot of chemical jam, two shortbread biscuits - served on an expendable plastic plate with an expendable plastic knife. For drinking, you could get orange juice - served in expendable plastic cups.

200 meters from the Ponte Vecchico...and E80!!!...wow An old building, 3rd floor, with the most minute elevator you ever saw......DB room with own shower was sparten but very clean...in fact the most comfortable bed in the whole of my stay in Italy... I noticed also there were dorm rooms with share facilities directions given to get there were very easy to follow...transport was the "D" bus from the station, which stopped at the end of the street. but only 15 minute walk from the station anyway. museum, galleries, etc were all in walking distance...I didn't see anywhere you could park a car other than on the street.....and it'd have to be a little car

The Antica Dimora San Jacopo was the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Italy. The service was beyond excellant, the room was beyond our expectations and such a welcome relief to other hotels that we had stayed in, we really did not want to leave Venice. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The directions that were given from the boat stop to the hotel were perfect. It is very easy to get lost in Venice, but the directions on Venere.com were right on the mark. Very clean, represented perfectly on the website and the continental breakfast was delivered to your door at the time you specified. It was like staying with a family friend and not an impersonal hotelier. Thank you so much for making our stay in Venice a great memory.

I believe we had the only private room with ensuite bathroom in what was essentially a hostel. Our room, however, was spacious and clean and had a huge bathroom. The view from the balcony was wonderful. I recommend this hotel, but there are a few things you should know before you stay: It's much further down Borgo San Jacopo than it appears in the website description (however it is still in a very convenient location. You will need to brush up on your Italian or take a phrase book along because the owner and the students working the front desk speak only italian. The keys to get in the building and in the room are very difficult to use. Make sure you try to use them while someone is at the front desk, otherwise you might get locked out. Breakfast is not offered, but coffee is available. Overall, this is a nice, clean, basic place to stay. It's located close to the center of Ponte Vecchio and the center of Florence.

This place was in a good location, but our room's light was broken and never fixed. The toilet and the shower are on opposite sides of the hall (and the shower room floor was always soaking wet from other users!). Our towels were taken the first day and never replaced.

I don't usually like staying at hotels, but this one had a warm and more intimate feeling and I really liked it. It's in an excellent location for access to the city but has the feeling of being tucked away from the crowds. The staff were always friendly and available. It was great to have internet access right at the hotel. The only thing I thought could be improved was the breakfast- which was all packaged items. For the cost of the room, I would have expected some fresh pastries etc. But otherwise, I would wholly recommend this place and would stay again when in Florence!

The good things were the location and the size of the room and bathroom. Bad things: No telephone, tiny TV, and only Italian channels. A lot of noise from the street. Breakfast was poor. The room looked clean but still we found some garbage in the drawers.

The location was excellent, but services offered did not match the web page verbage. Our room was very noisy and did not have a mirror or a sink. Breakfast was minimal -- packaged breadstuff and coffee in paper cups made in a vending machine.

My 13-year old son and I travelled through Italy in June/July and this was our only poor stay in an otherwise excellent series of hotels and B&B's, found primarly through venere.com. The Antica San Jacopa was rated a 3-star B&B - the assessment people need their heads examined! The B&B is located on a fairly noisy, dirty road in downtown Florence, very close to the Ponte Vecchio. The building is unremarkable and the B&B is located up a couple of flights of stairs (can't recall if there's an elevator). The manager was unimpressive - he could barely drag his attention away from whatever internet site he was on to show us to our room. However, the other staff, mostly teenage/young men, were actually quite helpful and pleasant. Our room, although spacious, was dark, dingy and poorly equipped. There was one tiny, dirty bathroom (no soap, hand towel or toilet paper at one point) for the non-bathroom equipped rooms to share, and one shower room. On a more positive note, the beds were fairly comfortable, but the shabby, dilapidated and poor quality of the property just didn't warrant the money we were charged (we paid 75 Euro per night). Breakfast, which was supposed to be included, was a coupon to eat at a cafe that we never did find! Needless to say, we left after one night and went to the Hotel Sole, which was a better location, spotlessly clean, pleasant and only 80 Euro a night. So, overall, you can do much better than the Antica San Jacopa in Florence for the same money.

Incorrect and contradictory description. Your site says all rooms come with private bathroom and shower and yet the prices say shared bathroom 'single', 'double' or 'quad'. But it also has a min and max price, suggesting that the max price would mean these rooms would have their own bathroom But all five rooms had to share one bathroom and toilet. One toilet, for like 20 people! This is not a hostel. It is a hotel! No wash basin in room. No drinking water facility, no soap, and the night receptionist hesitated before giving us towels. Receptionist was rude, barging into rooms before check out times, allowing a new guest into our room before we checked out! In this regard, the hotel was not very hospitable. Although the room did have an aircon and is in a very nice location. The hotel has good potential, but I reserved it for my family, as we travelled across Italy and the rest of Western Europe, but it was the most disapointing - in regards for value for money and comfort.

We arrived in Florence at 6 pm and walked from the train station to the hotel on the south side of the river in the humid summer heat. The streets of Florence are not kind to rolling suitcases, but we persevered to locate our reserved hotel, the Antica Dimora San Jacopo. It's on the third floor with a tiny elevator rising through the middle of the staircase. One of us rode with the suitcases and the other walked up the four flights of stairs where we were greeted by a young college student who regretfully informed us that he had no record of our reservation. "It seems like we've been overbooking lately," he said as he dialed the owner's number on the phone on his desk. Our college student worked hard to find us a place to stay. There were frequent calls to the owner and offers of various alternatives, including a room in this two star hotel that had the shower (singluar) down the hall in one direction and the toilette (singular) squeezed into a closet (I'm not kidding) in the other direction. This was a toilette that would be shared with at least four to six other young adults (lodged together in a dorm style room just a few doors away from the one offered to us). We finally settled on an alternate in other property owned by the same person, and started to walk down the street when the desk manager pursued us for yet another option. We gave up. It was hot, it was confusing, and it had finally become deeply frustrating. The young man told us that we were already looking at the best property of the options being presented. We thanked the man for his efforts and went off in search of new lodging. In thirty minutes we were standing on a modest balcony overlooking the Arno river thankful to have found replacement lodging at 8:30 p.m. on that 85 degree evening. Moral of the story: If you want to stay here, you'll want to double check your reservation. There are rooms in this place that would have met our needs, but a printed confirmation

This did not seem like a three star hotel. Room was spacious, location excellent, but there was a bum permanently on the doorstep, no hair dryer, no air conditioning, dark walk up three flights. Value was excellent and so was location. Breakfast was down the street and minimal. We had to ask for soap and our quota of towels.

The staff here were very pleasant and helpful. The "ammenities" described online are not accurate, although this hotel is quite centrally located. However, it is more like a "hostel" type hotel than a family type hotel, and again, there are may stairs involved (think luggage). Our stay was pleasant enough but I wouldn't choose this hotel again.

The location was great. We liked being away from the noise of the main historic areas, but still close enough to walk everywhere. Great fresh market at the end of the street. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable. The shower area was large. The WC was small, but clean. This hotel was a great value. It provided everything we needed at a price that didn't break our budget. The staff was helpful when we needed to stay an extra night in Florence. They secured a room at another hotel since they had no vacancies for that night.

We were 3 ladies and shared a triple bedroom, which was just great for us. Room big, nice marble floor. Bathroom clean and spacious. There could be more hangers for the clothes. Hardly any shelves or pieces of furniture to put your things on. We had a lovely balcony which would be great to use if travelling there in summer time. Staff was lovely and helpful. The button for the doorbell down at the main entrance should be repaired as it doesn't give the hotels name (sorry that we had to ring other people living in the house just to have someone open the door at night time...) Apart from that this place is the perfect little hotel if you want to be right there next to all the main sights of the historic quarters. Everything is just a walking distance away. It was really a good choice. Thumbs up!

Our room was very large and bathroom was great! We got the feeling that we were the only private room in a hostel, but I'm not sure. Desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location to walk all over Florence. We would definitely stay here again.
