La Contessina was a pleasant surprise. In reality, it looked better than its photographs. While I did not write down the names, the owner and staff made extra efforts to be friendly, nice, and helpful. Our 1-bedroom with bath apartment, and the hotel, were very neat and clean (they have bigger apartments). Breakfast was wonderful!!!! The hotel/apartment is nicely located in Florence, and nearby restaurants were good! We were able to walk to almost all places of interest - and the Hop-On/Hop-Off Bus was helpful. It was a good experience - my son and his family will be there next spring/summer! If we have the opportunity, my wife and I will return!!!!.

Well appointed rooms/appartments ideally located in the center of Florence. The family is extremely helpful, the breakfast is excellent, the welcome provides a calm haven from the downtown rush. This is our second visit to La Contessina, and we will certainly come back again.

THE HOTEL IS EXCELLENT. BUT IT HAS A PROBLEM IS THE LACK OF ATTENTION IN PROFESINALISMO. In this I mean that is attended by OWNERS THE LADY SERVES AS IF SHE WAS IN HER HOME AND SHE BHAS REMEMBER THAT SHE IS ATTENDING A HOTEL AND THE CUSTOMER ALWAYS THE REASON AND THE SERVICE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED TO SATISFY THE USER.

I doubt if you could find a better value, location, facilities in Florence. This was my third visit to Florence and I would definitely return to La Contessina again. It is like having your own private apartment in Firenze, Perfecto !!!. Only one problem, driving in Firenze, nothing to do with La Contessina.

Beautiful accomodation. Dusty but otherwise very clean. Staff is very kind and willing to help with reservations for museum etc. Just a bit further from the hart of the centre than we had hoped but in reality only a max 10 minute walk. Great place to stay alltogether.

In general - excellent however, maintenance is poor. Lamps which don't work, wood pieces falling off the chest of drawers and nobody taking notice.

The apartment was clean, quiet and cozy, especially for families with young children. Service staff were very friendly. However, the toilet will be a bit cold during winter without a heater and the hairdryer was broken.

This place is a gem! Its excellent price for quality. Its a 5-6 minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station. It is walking distance to all key areas including Duomo, Ponte Vecchio etc. I would recommend this place to anyone who is travelling on a budget but doesn't want to compromise on quality.

The hotel is in a good location. With the sofa bed extended very little room was left to move about. The loft was spacious enough to move about. The air conditioner remote control display panel did not work and I could not read the temperature setting. It was either too cold or too hot. It was difficult to set the temperature to a comfortable level. It is within a short walking distance to several attractions such as the Stazione di Santa Maria Novella, the Santa Maria Basilica, and the Mercato Centrale on via dell'Ariento. This mercato was one of the best that I've encountered in Firenza and Venice - buy in Firenza! Other attractions such as the Uffizi Galleria is a few minutes walk as well as the Basilica di Santa Croce. However, it is a wonderful walk through the old centre with many shops, mercatos and attractions to steal your attention away. Enjoy Firenza!

Lovely hotel in a quiet street, but still very close to train station. Couple of nice restaurants just round the corner. Rooms were big and clean, and family that ran the hotel was very helpful in making reservations for the Uffizi and other museums. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

we wenet to FLorence for a conference, and this hotel is about 3 minutes walk from the venue! And also 7 minutes walk from the train station. It has free internet (but on the doorway). SOme of the toilet facility has problem (leakage of shower, but overall, it is clean, spacious, and good for travellers with family. It is also about 5 minute's walk to the central market, and a little bit further to other part of Florence

This is an excellent choice for a short stay, as the hotel is just 2 blocks from the station and just in the area of the main places to visit in Florence. The entrance of the hotel could be a little bit tricky but the rooms are very spacious, comfortable, clean and good value for the price. Breakfast is just continental breakfast but the restaurant in the lower floor is quite nice. If you are only looking for a place to rest while walking and visiting Florence the whole day...this is a very good choice.

A nice and quiet boutique hotel in the middle of a busy area. The rooms are spacious, tidy and clean. Very comfortable. Most of the tourist attractions are within walking distance from the hotel. Highly recommended.

5th time in Firenze and this is the best place yet. Roomy, clean, with incredible location. Best private car park also. Tricky to find; forget the directions. Find Piazza Independenza, pass it on your right, and continue to about the 3rd possible right, Faenza, and take it. I thought all hotels here were dirty, expensive, and poor value until this. Highly recomended for families.

My wife and I went on the trip of a lifetime during which time we visited the USA, Holland, France and Italy. Residence La Contessina was a "magic" introduction to the glories not only of Florence (which we adored) but Italy as a whole. The staff were fantastic and could not help us enough. The facilities were 5 star. But best of all, it gave an ambiance which was second to none. We have sounded the Hotel's praises to all of our friends and we hope to come again. In our opinion, Residence La Contessina was the best Hotel of all the Hotels we stayed in and we stayed in plenty.

The room was not what we expected. Very poorly decorated (plastic plants and kitch plaster statuettes), the bathroom even though very spatious, left very little room for the shower. The overall feeling was a non-cosy appartment even though quite spatious and well located.

The room was very spacious. Only issue we had was the 'no guests after 10pm policy'. We were not aware of this policay and my niece, who lives in Florence, was not able to visit after 10pm.

We came to Florence to visit our daughter who is studying abroad. The accommodations and staff at this hotel were excellent. Some members of the staff were fluent in English which is very helpful. The apartment like suites were very spacious as compared to a normal hotel room at a very reasonable price. They included a large bathroom, kitchen, dining, sitting room combination and a large loft styled bedroom overlooking the downstairs. The rooms were cleaned each day with fresh towels provided. If you do use the kitchen for cooking there is a separate fee. The site is not far from the train station and walking distance to the tourist locations. The location is down a very narrow street, but once you entered the hotel's driveway you are in another quiet world. The breakfast each morning was great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence. The family was great as was the hotel. Thank You, Jim.

Our stay was a breath of fresh Italian air, relaxed, as if a part of an exclusive estate. Hard to believe we were a half block from the excitement of the city itself. What a wonderful retreat! The apartment was spacious for our group of four friends. The breakfast selection ample and tasty. I hope to get back to visit!

We throughly enjoyed our stay here. The apartment looked exactly like it did in the pictures on the Venere web site. The managers were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very satisfying. The apartment was spacious, clean and lovely. Its location was outstanding. It is a short walk to the train station and was easily within walking distance of all of the major attractions. We have all ready recomended it to friends who are heading to Florence this summer. We highly recommend it. We found a wonderful restuarant called La Celestino, Piazza Santa Felicita, 4r., www.ristorantecelstino.it Try the steak with mushroom sauce and bacon!!!!

During our 3-week trip in Italy, we stayed at 9 hotels. La Contessina was definitely the best value for money! The hotel is absolutely great and the rooms were very spacious and comfortable for our family of 4. It is run by a very kind and attentive family, who provided very good information and wonderful treatment throughout our stay. The car park was large enough for our vehicle and very safe. I would certainly come back to this hotel next time I visit Florence! Mazin

This was one of the best hotels we stayed at while on holiday in Italy. We stayed here once at the first of our vacation and liked it so well we came back for a second stay at the end of our travels in Italy. The family that runs this accommodation are very professional, with a kindness that makes one feel like they are coming home again. Our daughter stayed at La Contessina in one of the three person apartments while in school and thoroughly enjoyed her time there. We highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for quality, comfort and helpfulness for a very reasonable price.

We had a very nice stay in Ference, the rooms were very clean and big. The employees were very polite and helpfully. When we left the hotel for driving home, we forgot a big basket full of things, some quite expensive. We are very happy that it was no problem to get back everything. The whole basket has been sent back to us by mail, nothing damaged or lost. Thanks a lot!

Two comments: 1) The hotel can be very noisy at night; not from the street traffic in Firenze, but from the surrounding rooms. Be sure to close the windows to the interior courtyard if you want quiet. 2) I chose this hotel because it was advertised as accessible for handicapped. This is correct, but be advised that the person who requires a walker or a wheelchair will, of necessity, sleep in the common living area on a sofa bed as the only other sleeping accomodation is up a staircase that is not accesible.

We love this service apartment! We highly recommend this place to all our friends. It is close to everything including the train station and most tourist sights. Just minutes away one can find all amenities that tourists will require. We particularly enjoyed cooking in the kitchen which has all kinds of cooking equipment, and we could walk to the Mercato Centrale in a few minutes to get all the fresh ingredients. The apartment was spacious, clean, and well equipped. The staff were very helpful. The price was excellent for the location and quality. We will definitely return if we will visit Florence again. It was the best place out of the 6 hotels that we stayed at during this trip.
