Vacation Rental Steindl I - Budapest

The room was clean, but very dark and a little damp. We had specifically requested three beds and had the availability confirmed by email, but there were only two in the apartment. One bed did consist of two single mattresses and we placed one on the floor, but this was not what we were expecting. The location is excellent however, which makes the apartment very good value for money.

The owner was waiting for us at the location when we arrived to show us the room, which was too small for the four of us, but kindly offered to give us a much bigger room (actually an entire apartment) for a very small increase ( from 45 Euros to 50 Euros). Both rooms were cleaned when we arrived and the owner was very courteous and accomodating.

Convenient location - within walking distance to metro and center of town. Building and apartment still has the old soviet flavor - musty moldy odor hallway and courtyard, deteriorating common areas but apartment was livable. Studio was one room (double bed with small kitchen area), loft (2 single beds up a steep narrow stairway) and small bathroom (no lock on door, shower needed some manipulating to get it to work). Even though we told what time we would arrive as requested, we still waited on the sidewalk an hour before someone showed up with the keys.
