Le Grand Large - Résidence - Biarritz

We found the hotel a great value, in a great location - opposite the beach and close to market and central area, but not in thick of high-priced hotels and casinos. Great restaurant finds nearby. Wonderful beach - when tide went out. Really lovely.

For the price this is a great hotel, very good location 10 minute walk from town, Has a few local shops close by too. will be going back.

This hotel far outweighed our expectations and was perfect for a weekend mini-break in Biarritz! Excellent location- literally a 2 minute stroll to the main Port Vieux area and beach. There were lots of coffee shops, bars and eateries very close to hotel. We felt very safe walking around in the area, even at night. We had a 4-person studio apartment, as we originally booked for three adults. As it happened we ended up as just a party of two but the apartment was big enough for three, for a short visit! With two singles and a set of bunk beds it would sleep two adults and two young children. Although the apartment was fairly compact, it had with a large balcony which acted like a second room, and would be ideal for dining. It was well-equipped with fridge, small hob, microwave, cutlery, kitchenware etc. As we were only there for two nights, we didn't engage much with hotel staff and facilities, except for the pool, which was a pleasant surprise. I would most definitely return to this hotel!

Loved being up the hill so close to the food market and away from (but within easy distance) of the very touristy part. Beds were very hard although that seems normal in hotels and can't understand why they didn't provide dishwashing liquid. No other complaints at all, loved it, especially the free use of computer with internet. We had a twin bed alcove with another small bedroom with bunks for 2.

The place is very nice and this hotel is correct, but the staff not too much. By the way there is a local tax per person about 0,5€.

Lovely apartments and location.Had one dinner in the hotel.It was ok only.I felt the reception staff should have a little more English language.Overall it was a very nice place to stay and I will be recommending it .

Almost everythis was perfect. Receptionists were kind. Room was clean and spacious. My mother enjoyed its outdoor swimming pool. However, I could not enter the nearist spa suggested by a receptionist becasue we did not stay at Sopitel.

In General, we really enjoyed our stay at this property. Room was lovely - spacious and clean. There is a quiet relaxed atmosphere with a mainly older clientele.

An excellent alternative to pricey hotels which may not provide the same level of comfort as does Le Grand Large. The kitchenette helps save on food costs, which have gone up tremendously in France in the past couple of years. The property is located minutes from the city center and the beach and the parking lots (outside and inside) are very convenient. Front desk employees were very helpful and provided many tips about things to do or see. Finally, the Tuesday shuttle to the train station was a big help.

Fabulous location and views. So near to the centre - especially by the laneways to rear of hotel... Don't follow the coast paths like we first did. The studios are ideal for family of four. And bigger than impression given on site. Kids loved their alcove bunk-beds. But very disappointed to find childrens pool closed for entire stay - in mid July. Also website indicates free shuttle to airport on tuesdays, the day we were leaving. Reception said there was no such thing.

Want to go back again in early september for our silver wedding anniversary but sadly so far no rooms available.That should be sufficient testimony !

First time we have stayed here. Well-located with respect to the shopping area, the conference venues, casino etc. Easy and free parking. The apartments are modern, relatively basic in decor, but very adequate, and priced appropriately. Our friends in a north-facing apartment on an upper floor said that the flashing of the lighthouse kept them awake, but lower down or on the other side it would be invisible. Communal clothes washing/drying facilities available. The only equipment we were surprised not to be supplied was a hair-drier in the bath room.

Very pleased with services, reception staff very helpful, cleaning staff thorough and very pleasant. Good location.

This Hotel was exactly as we required, for a young family. However I feel it would suit all travellers especially those who wished to cater for themselves.The kitchen facilities are excellent and the restaurant catered for all ages.

First visit to Biarritz. Le Grand Large made it a fabulous experience. Great room/apartment across the road from the hotel..amazing views of sea front and beaches, very close to town centre...could not find any fault even though the lift didn't work in apartment block and we had a very small baby in buggy. It was still a great experience. I will definitely book this hotel again when returning to Biarritz next year. Do not let the appearence of the hotel put you off as it does seem a bit dreary on the outside.

Good, cost effective hotel for families. Close to old port with own parking. Bar/restaurant closes early, but spoilt for choice within 5 mins walk. Recommended.

The room we ended up with was, indeed, the handicapped room we thought had been reserved for us. The first assigned room, which we were assured was accessible, was anything but. It turned out that the front desk clerk was a substitute for an absent employee, and she was more than a bit in over her head. The hotel staff in general was helpful and congenial, but we felt we were imposing by bringing up special needs to the front desk. Finally, a conversation with the manager smoothed things out. And the appropriate room was very nice, indeed. This was the first hotel we stayed in during our month-long trip, and given our special needs, the "welcome" was a bit unsettling.

We loved this property! It was within easy walking distance of the center of town and the beaches. The people were very nice, and we definitely had value for the price. Our "studio" was spacious, with a decent sized kitchenette, and two small bunkbeds for children. We had a fabulous view from the balcony too. I'm only sorry we only stayed a short time.

It was the first time and we were enjoy by the place and the welcoming and competency of employees.

I can only say how good the hotel was as well as the staff. In fact, we were so happy there that we stayed on more night.The hotel was everything that we hoped and the staff very friendly and did everything to help us. I will definetely come back again.
