As others have already written, a charming property. Rooms are small, though, but I guess that's what you should expect in Venice for this price. Rooms are very clean, small, but good bathroom, matress o.k., TV only with Italien programming (no problem for us...). Breakfast is as expected in Italy, but comes with a very good capucchino...

A quiet area of Venice. Excellent value for Venice. Room was quiet, clean and location to vaparetto great. Friendly and accommodating staff.

It's not very easy to find out the reception (in another hotel)to check in. That made me mad. It didn't just happen to us, we saw two tourists can't find the reception either.

First time to Venice and was very pleased with the price, quality, friendliness of this hotel compared to other places I have stayed in Europe.

We would highly recommend the Piccolo Vecellio Guest House. It is just a few blocks off the water, so easily accessible to the water bus. It wasn't centrally located but Venice isn't that big and we still walked everywhere. The Trattatoria Mia Casa was recommended by the staff and it was delicious and cheap. The other place they recommended was also delicious but a little pricey. Next time we go to Venice, we'd stay at the Piccolo Vecellio.

Excelente B&B. English: Excellent small B&B. Clean renewed rooms. Walking distance to Rialto and San Marco. Close to Vaporetto and Allilaguna service (Fondamenta Nove stop).

Little, nice hotel in a quite, rural area of Venice. Perfect and reasonable priced stay during a carnival weekend in Feb 09. We would definitely book this hotel again. Excellent value for money.

The guest house is very easy to find and in a quiet area, though not far from the main streets; the check-in has to be done at the Hotel Vecellio (right near the vaporetto-stop at Fundamente Nuove); we were very friendly welcomed by Beata and Matteo. Breakfast was good (continental) and as far as lunch and dinner are concerned, there are a lot of good places in Venice. With Beatas help we found the nicest places! We enjoyed our stay very much.

The reviews I read on forums were great about this place. The lady who runs the place Baerta was really nice and very helpful as was her assistant Barbara. The breakfast is a little on the simple side but you are not paying big prices so 2 bread rolls and a croissant plus juice and coffee is fine. Getting to the place is simple, especially from the airport as you just catch the boat to Ponte Nuove and then the hotel where you pick up the key is diagonnally to the left when you get off. Matteo is also really helpful, great over the phone when I had to ring prior to arriving. The area is safe and quiet and apart from getting lost going into the centre of town (frequently all around Venice but you wander about and find what you're looking for pretty quickly, it is a great location.

Of the 4 places we stayed at while in Italy, this was the least attractive and smallest room. The staff however made up for that which was lacking. Bietta was very charming. She did whatever she could to make our stay most enjoyable. The location of the hotel was perfect for us.We wanted to be close to the water taxis without being on the Grand Canale. It was an easy way to get to the surrounding islands and an easy walk to the big Venetian tourist attractions.

Magnificent room. However (and I can't emphasise this enough), if you are staying at the Piccolo Vecellio, you should be prepared to check in at the Vecellio Hotel (almost directly opposite the Venzia Fondamenta Nuova water bus/taxi stop - only two or three minutes walk away from the Picollo Vecellio). In defense of the breakfasts (see previous review) - although they might not be considered substantial by UK standards, they were perfectly fine by Italian/Continental Europe standards (not a criticism!) and the personal attention was lovely - without being intrusive. My only objection - as we had the room on street level, expect some noise late at night/early morning. But in the grander scheme of things (given that a little late night banter in a city that doesn't have your usual traffic noises is an acceptable sacrifice from a Londoner) it was incredibly minor. All in all, I couldn't recommend the Piccolo more.

The rooms were OK, but breakfast was very poor. Very, very limited selection and not much of it. The clear impression was that the owners wanted to spend as little money as possible. One was allowed one cup of decent coffee (or as a special favour - two) and then onto instant. No cereal, no fruit, a small amount of poor quality bread only. Also lots of "rules" give a not very friendly impression.

The suites are newly renovated and very clean. Rooms are on the smaller side, but that's normal in Europe. The Venetian decor is very charming and romantic. The hosts are friendly. The town house is conveniently located close to a waterbus stop that takes you to the airport.

Beata and Matteo run a wonderful guest house! Matteo was welcoming when I first arrived, and Beata took great care of me for the rest of my stay. I am spending the summer traveling through Europe, and Venice is one city that I loved where I stayed and I wish I could have stayed longer! As a single traveler and a full time student, I chose Venice as a place for my downtime from hostels. This is a great place for that. Beata recommended Trattoria Casa Via for dinner, and the prices are reasonable and only a 5 minute walk from the guest house. The next time you are in Venice, I highly recommend this place because it is in a neighbourhood with local Venetians, so it's really nice. And in Venice everything is within walking distance, so location was ideal! I will stay here again when I return to Venice.

This was a wonderful B&B. The location was very close to the water bus stop and check-in, even though it was at another location, was painless and after check-in, I was taken to the B&B with the owner's wife. The location was perfect but I got lost the first evening, mainly because of how Venice is set up. With a good map and only being lost once, I did not have any more problem. I had a single room, which was sooo cute. Blue is my favorite color and the room was nicely decorated. The size of the room is European, but if you are sight-seeing, it is not a problem. Breakfast in the morning was really filling and nicely done. I am looking forward to returning for a longer period of time.

The first thing to mention is that better directions to the main hotel and to the Piccolo should be given on the website. The Street name of boh hotels should be mentioned. And it should be emphasized to the traveller to present themselves to the main hotel since no one is almost ever there at the Piccolo. It took my boyfriend and I about 2 hours to find the hotel and that was thanks to an Italian lady who was good enough to help us!! I did very much like the hotel, the room was very nice and clean. The location of the hotel is great, within walking distance to most everything worth visiting in Venice. The owner were very welcoming and nice and so was the lady who served us breakfast. I would recommend this hotel but would warn everyone to have proper directions a good Venice map in hand when arriving and to arrive during daytime.

Absolutley amazing! I travel alone often and the single room at Piccolo Vecellio was great. Beautiful decorations but with a homey feel. The owners are wonderful too. I feel unwelcome sometimes as an American, but they did a such a great job of making me feel right at home. I was given a map with suggestions of where to eat. I could not have had a better stay.

Beata and Matteo who run the Piccolo Vecellio are wonderful hosts - they give you the feeling to be a friend. My room was absolutely new and comfortable. The price is more than OK, too! The location is reachable very easily - you take the boat from St. Lucia and after 15 min you reach the hotel! It is a good place to start discovering the city.

Piccolo Vecellio made my trip to Venice the most memorable and fantastic experience that we will never forget. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Not only was it first class in service but it was also spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished and decorated. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom beautifully tiled, clean with a bidet. There is a little cloakroom very handy for luggage. The hosts - Beata and Mateo lovely couple did their utmost to make our time enjoyable and special. In close proximity to all the sites and attractions - we found it was very easy to move around the city. I am already planning my next stay at charming Piccolo Vecellio. Thank you Beata and Mateo. GRAZIE MILLE E BACI DA LONDRA! A PRESTO!

The checkin at the main Hotel Vecellio was very easy - the main hotel is right opposite the Fondamente Nove vaporetto stop. Baeta looks after the Picollo Vecellio and walks you round once you have checked in. She speaks good English and is very keen to make sure you have a good stay. The hotel is newly refurbished and very bright and clean. The hotel is in a quiet residential area, but only 30 minutes walk from Rialto (there is a bus stop 3 minutes away). There is some noise from people walking by as it is on the route to the bus stop. It is only passing noise, but if this is an issue ask for a room at the back. We would definitely stay here again.

Very comfortable room. Quiet area. Remember to go to Piccolo hotel for check-in. ALSO - Venere has 5151B as the address but it's actually 5151A and within the Calle del Fumo. Cute Italian restaurant too if you just walk down the street the hotel is on.
