We were given a room in a residence ("apartment") on the street next to where the building housing the reception was situated. The room itself was immaculately clean, spacious and comfortable. The only shortcoming was that we had to unlock three doors to get to our own room and the first two were so tight and stiff that it took tremendous strengh to open them. This particular residence or apartment therefore is not recommendable for woman travelers like us.

I had the most amazing stay for a first visit to venice. I would definately recomend this hotel, it's in an excellent location as well. Thanks so much.

The only issue that we had was the internet cafe next door. On Saturday night groups of people spilled out into the street and disturbed our sleep. Other than that the staff are extremely friendly and the rooms are clean and spacious. We would stay there again but request a room at the rear of the hotel next time.

We felt very well in the Hotel. Its distance to all interesting places is excellent. We were impressed of the quality offered.

The hotel was a long way and we had to walk a long time to get there. We even had to ask a restaurant manager to take us there although I had a map located the hotel, it was difficult to find it. The breakfast staff was not very polite but the rooms were according to the website: spacious and clean. Unfortunately the hotel is located near a very busy bar/restaurant and some of us did not get any sleep for 3 days.

Art Deco is a charming small establishment located in a very convenient area. The room was small but clean, and the orthopedic mattress was quite comfortable. The street noise was noticable but not objectionable. The breakfast room is very small, but the service was good. The staff was pleasant and helpful. I would choose Art Deco again if we return to Venice.

Price is not right consider that it is quite far from St. Marco (take around 10-15 min on foot) The bathroom is not good, when showering, the water can get out of the area and wet all place in the bathroom. The room is relatively small. We stayed on 3rd fl which was so painful that we had to carry our luggages upto the floor. Breakfast is OK, coffee is surprisly bad. The good thing is cleanliness of the room, some staff was so generous.

Rate was a lot, but so are a lot of places in San Marco's square. Staff was excellent, room was clean and quite. Bed had the best pillows on our trip. Bathroom was nice and spacious. If you are looking for a quite place near San Marco's square then check this one out. There is also a nice deli/market right next door with excellent baked goods.

The location is fantastic. We spent a day like people living in Venice, I mean the hotel is situated in lovely area where it is not too noisy, but not too quiet. Rooms are very clean and practical. What I feel dissapointed is that hotel has no rooms with bath tub, even though at booking it says 'double room with bath'. That explanation had to be 'double room with shower'.

This hotel is really a waste of your hard-earned money. The floor of the room is broken which put us off. They could atleast have covered with a matress !! The breakfast "Buffet" did not have much to eat, despite our request a day before to arrange for at 7.30 in the morning. Then there was a real flipper when we requested if there was a toilet which we could use before we got to get into the room ( We reached 1 hour early ), we were asked to use the toilet inside a bar in front of the hotel !! This was really embarassing, especially when we saw that there was a common toilet in front of our room, later on :-). on the plus side, it is 10 minutes walk from the St. Marks' square and vaporetti stop.

Great rooms very quiet and good beds. The breakfast was quite spartan. In particular it would be good to have been offered a second glass of fruit juice each morning. The public area were quite samll. Overhaul very good value

We stayed at Art Deco for 2 nights at the height of summer. The hotel is tucked away in an excellent location, close to all the action but still nice and quiet inside. The rooms are good, a bit smaller than you might expect in other cities (but this is Venice of course..). The staff were all helpful and friendly. Internet is next door, cafe's and restaraunts just around the corner, easy walking to Rialto, Accademia and San Marco, and water buses just 2 minutes away. Overall feeling was that Art Deco made a fine base from which to enjoy a lovely stay in Venice.

Very centrally located and yet still quiet and welcoming. The airconditioning was puffed away somewhat asthmatically and was not adequate and the breakfast area was cosy, to say the least. Staff provided more towels and sheets when we needed them at 2 am after my daughter was unwell. Food store next door was a plus but we never eat more expensively in two weeks in Italy than on our first night in the square near the hotel. Art Deco is worth the stay if you want a small central hotel.

An excellent small and friendly hotel in the perfect position in Venice (not too close to the tourist traps but with a 5 minutes gentle walk to everywhere). Air conditioning is essential in Venice in the summer months and this hotel has it and still at a good price. The only tiny negative was horrible morning coffee with a frugal breakfast but with 3 or 4 cafe's in the square just around the first corner and an excellent general store shop right next door this one small gripe was really an insignificant point. I will strongly recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to visit Venice in future. We will definitely look nowhere else when we go back.

We only had 1 night at Art Deco, and found it to be a pleasant visit. Favio at the front desk was friendly to my children (and the adults) and we enjoyed a filling breakfast. The air conditioning in one room did not function well, but our other room sufficed.

Email correspondance was prompt and helpful. They gave detailed directions and reception was still welcoming despite us arriving after midnight. The room was spotlessly clean and larger than we had expected. It has recently been refurbished and even with an extra bed for our daughter there was still plenty of space. Breakfast was adequate but not exciting. The location, just off a busy square - San Stefano - was very convenient , just ten minutes from St Marks Square. San Stefano has several restaurants and coffee shops. A thouroughly enjoyable stay.

The room itself was beautiful as was the entire hotel. You are promised coffee and tea and kettle in the room, which was a reason for choosing that hotel, due to having a small child who would be in bed earlier, thus us being in earlier too. However, this was not the case, we were told we could use a communal kettle and tea bags whenever, but were not shown where they were and there was no milk or coffee, we could only have black tea. When the cleaner/breakfast lady arrived she was quite rude, and huffed and puffed at the fact that we had to move a chair for our son as the tables were only provided with two chairs and settings. She thrust prepacked croissants and buns into a basket as though we had done something wrong, this continued every morning apart from on the last when she was quite pleasant. She shouted at my partner who was making a cup of tea one morning, telling us service finished at 9.30am and we shouldn't be using the facilities which we had, as explained earlier had already been told to use. She complained when we took some food into our rooms, she followed and watched my partner as he moved from the dining area to our room. She made not just us but the majority of the other guests feel very uncomfortable and uneasy. We made every effort to speak in italian and make a friendship with this lady, icluding our three old son who constantly spoke to her in his little italian he knew, but she was very abrupt and rude. The breakfast overall was terrible compared to others we have had in far cheaper hotels. The coffee was instant and poured from a flask, there was nothing special or pleasant about it. It was a miss mash of cheap provisions as apposed to the continental breakfast with fresh croissants and coffee we would have expected. Some days I didn't even go to breakfast due to feeling it would be an unpleasant experience. It did put a downer on our holiday especially at over £100.00 per night. The rooms were tidied but not cleaned during our st

We stayed at the hotel "AL SOLE" not at the "ART DECO". The main problem comes from the relation price/quality. Better services can be obtained for that price anywhere but in Venice (spaciousness of rooms, quality of furniture, quality and spaciousness of bathroom, breakfast service (self-service, precooked scrambled eggs and an automatic coffee machine for breakfast in ITALY, in a 3-star hotel, what disappointment!). The common rooms are spacious, but unwelcoming. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. The hotel is very well located. The beauty of the façade and of the inner court, as shown on the pictures, reveals little of the reality of the rooms, which is quite ordinary.

We are art deco enthusiasts. As it was our 30th Wedding Ann. this was a perfect hotel in a perfect location. They even arranged a fabulous boquet of flowers from my husband (at short notice) Couldn't have been more helpful. Would love to return again some time.

Quality of breakfast very poor. I don't expect to get coffee kept warm in a flask in Italy! No choice of cereal, fruit. Croissant/roll unappertising. Although advertised in room brochure there were no tea/coffee facilities in room. I left a note re this in the room but it was ignored. However, the situation couln't have been better. It is a pity room only can't be booked.

Fantastic location - just round the corner from Campo San Stefano with a late night cafe/ bar next door (internet cafe) and an excellent restaurant opposite. The room and bathroom were extremely tastefully decorated and furnished while the staff couldn't have been nicer. The breakfast area is very small but breakfast isn't a big deal. Also the flats opposite are very near and the occupants wake up early and noisily but this is all part of the atmosphere. We thought this hotel a first class find and will definitely return.

We stayed for two nights in mid March, in a quad room (four adults); quads were not easy to find in Venice, this was one of the least expensive that was available for booking last fall. the room was very large, plenty of room for all, clean, comfortable. the fourth bed was only suitable for someone shorter than about 5'3", however. the bathroom had the usual Italian bath with handheld shower, clean and plenty of water. Breakfast was standard, breakfast room small for the number of guests. Location was fantastic, easy walks to San Marco, Rialto, very close to Accademia, vaporetto stops. We had no trouble at all finding the hotel, any reasonably good map shows the calle de botteghe. Several good restaurants nearby; excellent gelati at Paolin. English of manager was adequate, he was helpful without being pushy. Value for money is hard to say, definitely less than an equivalent price would bring in Rome or Florence, but can't compare to others in Venice. We would definitely stay again.

I found the information on the website and ease of booking very good. The hotel replied immediately and kept in touch via email, We arrived late and without a map so had difficulty locating the hotel at first but it was all part of the fun of Venice. The Hotel was very pretty, clean and breakfast was good. The staircase is marble and steep so I would not recommend it suitable for people with walking difficulty.I did expect the prices to be a bit more favourable for the time of year. We met up with friends who stayed in Treviso much much cheaper but I did not want the aggro of commuting for a short stay.I found Venice to be enchanting and apart from the room rates not expensive and I didn,t feel like I was being fleeced. So enjoy your stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is perfectly located in Venice, between Accademia and San Marco. The breakfast room is not very large, so you may have to wait a few minutes to find a table. During the high season, in summer, the noise down in the street might be probably a little bit distressing, but in February the surroundings were very calm... A very good address with competitive prices. We'll come back !

Nice hotel, good location, almost everything is nearby. The restaurant on the other side of the street is a bit expensive (like most of them) but the bar just besides is very nice and the small dishes are excellent and almost cheap!! Stay there!! A suggestion for the management: have some gumboots in different sizes prepared for your clients. (just 'til they bought their own). And to all visitors: take your gumboots with! Visiting venice is fun, also if it is flooded (flood rises two times a day, rest of time is dry) The prices of gumboots are rising with the flood (15-50 €). Normal height of boots deals with most situations. Try to by near Rialto-bridge, it's cheaper. Thanks to the management and service staff, we enjoyed it very much.

Having vowed yet again not to take much luggage, we found the walk from the water-bus a bit of a hike; in reality, it was no way at all.We found the Art Deco a charming place...our room on the second floor, comprising a huge double bed and a perfectly accepable and substancial fold-away bed, was absolutely spotless; no tea-tray though, although we didn't realise we should have had one! Location excellent...10 mins. to all the major landmarks. Didn't experience problems from noise, our room was at the rear.Three of us together, so breakfast was sometimes a "split affair"...space a bit tight, Overall, found it excellent value for money and would recommend and use again.

The location is quite convenient for St Mark's square and Peggy Guggenheim Museum - rooms and facilities were quite nice. Breakfast(balcony) area was entirely too crowded with metal garden style tables and chairs so was uncomfortable to move about in. Breakfast service person was not "customer friendly" - seemed quite irritated at one set of visitors. The English speaking ability of the reception people (we met 4 different individuals) varied - the recommendation for "Ristorante Ribo" (affiliate with a 2 fork rating highly accurate and an extremely good experience - celebrating anniversary and birthday). Directions to the restaurant were poor - perhaps hotel should have a prepared and more detailed map ready for guests. Noise level in rooms not too loud even though near two bar/cafes. Would stay here again if in Venice.

Art Deco is a reasonably nice hotel. The rooms are clean and tastefully furnished. Bathroom in the room was well equipped, but shower did tend to overflow in to the bath area. The staff are polite, but not overly forthcoming with helpful information, we had a very early departure to the train station and had to try 2 water bus stops before we found a line that was running that early - I think that reception could have offered us advice, they knew our check out time and where we were going. English is not spoken terribly well by the staff we encountered, but we did not expect this. If there was one negative aspect it would be the extremely small breakfast area. I would imagine that it is not possible to sit all people in the hotel at once. There is also no real lobby area or any other facilities i.e bar, but opposite the entrance there is a bar. However overall it was comfortable and the double-glazing on the windows meant that the rooms were quiet. There is no view, but location was good from a tourist's point of view.
