Can recommanded this property. It was really hard to find it. The entrance into hotel is entrance into public house - there is just a name written next to rings (only small desk). First impression was quite shocking - dark, old, demaged entrance hall into this public block of flats (hotel is one level of this house). But when we were invited to the hotel - we were shocked again - wery clean, reconstructed, standard furnished rooms. Breakfast (wery poor) is served into the room. Subway (500m) and we were walking into centre - 20 min. The hotel is situated probably in "china-part"-many cheap pubs and restaurants (italian too) close. It was safe and quiet place.

I would definitely recommend Starlight. We arrived very early, just before 7am, and were very grateful for being let in. There is always somebody there. We were quite lucky, cause the room wasn't used the night before, so we could move in straight away. What a relief after sleepless night! Building itself made a very nice impression on us, a big yard inside, surrounded by variety of windows (with shutters of course!) and laundry hanging, very italian feel. Room and the bathroom-very nice and clean, no downsides. That's all that really matters during travel times-comfort of the room at the end of the day. For those who want to stay longer in bed I would advice to say that the previous day, otherwise they want the room to be empty each day by 11, to clean it. All you need to do is to say that you just want fresh towels and no cleaning, and they will leave you in peace. Location could be better of course, in the evening nearby streets were pretty empty, but the distance from metro station is not big. And on the other hand, Termini metro station(the second nearest station, after Vittorio Emanuele, the nearest) is part of both metro lines, A and B,which is very useful, whatever quarter you're coming back from. The only dissappointment was breakfast - coffee/tea and juice were ok, but we would be much happier getting 1 fresh croissant or 1 fresh piece of bread, instead of getting a packed croissant with lots of sugar on top and packed 2 little toast slices. But breakfast doesn't change my mind in one- I would stay there again;-)

Nice Hotel, even if it's strange to find an hotel at the 4th floor of a building, but it seems to be a normal Roman way of hotelling due to a lack of room in the city. Remember the hotel does'nt accept cards for payment so better make a provovision of cash. martine the owner is friendly and she speak french italian and english, for other language i did'nt try. the hotel is close to Terrmini (train station) so very good when arriving by Campino airport, close to THE metro line, and tram lines. Advice: Very good place for a short stay, otherwise the room is not big enough . Try to find a bus map even if roma is small enough to be vitsited by walking. Bus are restful by the end of a walking day.

Overall stay was good. The B&B place is close to the Termini station which is good when you come by plane. The hotel itself has two parts, a cheaper part with 1 bathroom for all guests and a more expensive part with ensuite bathroom. This part is newly renovated and pleasant. For a short city trip I'd go there again. It's a 5 minutes walk to the next metro station which is useful to get to the interesting places. Staff is friendly and competent. Breakfast is not the right word considering German standards, but at least you'll get a glas of ornage juice, tea or coffee and buscuits.

We really like the room. It is modern and clean. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We found the rooms very quiet with good heating/ air conditions. Our room had a small refrigerator. Location is good. Supermarket, subway close by. The property has a small lift, so lugging cases up stairs wasn't necessary. We would stay there again.

The hotel is in a good walking distance (~10min) of the main station, Roma Termini, and a bit hard to find. But once at the door, you are guided to your room by a member of the friendly staff. The building itself looks quite shabby, and when outside, you instantly lower your expectations ("Oh well, at least we're just sleeping here!") and the holiday mood fades away. But when you managed to get through the iron door and fitted in the crummy lift you will be surprised when the door to the actual hotel rooms opens. Its neat and clean, cosy and warming. The rooms are quite nice, with own bathroom, TV and minibar. There is a huge window to an inner courtyard, where you can witness real italian family life. Suddenly a thought of "well, I did't expect this!" oozes through your mind and a grin sneaks on your face and you are in a holidy mood again. An interesting fact is the breakfast-in-bed-story. You are asked what time you want your breakfast and what kind of coffee (also tea or hot chocolate) you'd like and it will be brought to your room in the morning (if you notice them that you're awake). Its quite comfortable to start into a holiday-day like this :-) ... and of course it's like this because there is no breakfast-room. The staff will provide you with a map of rome with all the sights on it, the Colosseo and the Forum Romanum are about a twenty-minute walk away. Overall the Hotel is a bit off the main tourist sights, so you either have to walk or take the bus if you are a lazy fellow :-). The quality/price-ratio surely is good, we did not expect a room like this for that little money. Overall, if we'd go to Rome another time, we'd surely think of lodging in Starlight Hotel again.

Great little hotel, very nice people. The building is easy to find, the hotel is a bit harder. When you go through the front door you need to go straight ahead across the court yard to the second to last door on the LEFT, It has a metal iron gate. Then look for the starlight bell.

The staff was very welcoming. It is very accessible from Termini and a reasonable walk or bus/metro to the sites. The areas is a bit sketchy, so be foreworned if you are a woman traveler. Overall, it was a great value for the price, quiet, clean, basic. Just what we were looking for. (The breakfast left something to be desired-- packaged baked goods and no traditional breakfast room.)

We enjoyed staying at Starlight. It is a bit difficult to find but as we had been warned about this from reading other peoples comments on this site we looked more carefully and had no problem finding the door and pressing the appropriate buzzer. The confusion comes when you enter into a court yard with very few signs to help. Having traipsed up three floors we found someone who took us to our room in another building which fortunately had a lift. However once we had familiarised ourselves we enjoyed feeling like a local in just another apartment as it didn't really feel like a hotel at all. From the road when we arrived we were a bit concerned about what we would find but once inside our room we were delighted. It was lovely, spacious, clean, tasteful decor and everything worked well. There is a small lobby with desk but no real public spare so our somewhat small breakfast was brought on a tray each morning. The couple who ran it are very helpful and friendly and we felt we got value for money. We would choose to stay there again. The location for us was great as it is walking distance the main railway station and a short block away from a wonderful food and clothes market. When ever we got lost somewhere in Rome we would head on a bus to the main station and we were back in familiar territory.

The Starlight hotel is a very nice place to stay while visiting Rome. The hotel is located about 15-20 minute walk from the Termini train station and only about 2 blocks from a metro station. When you enter the hotel from the street, you first pass through a "courtyard" area that is somewhat dark and unappealing (especially when you arrive at night). Once you are in the courtyard, the Starlight has a hostel on the 3rd floor through a door on the right and the hotel is on the 4th floor through a door on the left. Since this hotel does not generally have 24 desk service, we were very pleased to see that someone was waiting specifically for us to arrive late that evening. The room and bathroom were very clean and recently renovated. The man that checked us in was very helpful to provide us information on the city. The owners arrived in the morning and had a basic continental breakfast (croissant, toast, cappuccino) prepared at our request. They were also very helpful to provide information for touring the city. We did most of our sightseeing on foot. The Starlight is only a few blocks from the Coliseum and many other attractions in the city. I would consider this hotel to be above standard for a 2 star...the price was reasonable for Rome, just be prepared with cash since they do not accept credit cards. We would definitely recommend the Starlight hotel to anyone interested in a nice hotel for a good price while traveling to Rome.

Difficult to find, due to there is no signs. Its just a ordinary door, with doorphone. Entering the door, youre in a backyard, dark and grey. Entering the appartment, where the hotelrooms are, is entering another world. Nice and clean owerall. The room is big, there is tv, aircondition, a refrigator and own toilet with bath. The owner are at the hotel every day in the morning. He serves your breakfast in the room. Coffea and a couple of bread, butter and marmelad and a cake. It's okay. They are helpsome, and we will use the same hotel, when we will be back in Rome. Good shopping area and 25 min. walk to Coloseum. 10 min. walk to the railway station Termini.

This "Hotel" was a glorified B&B. In fact it was a converted 4th floor apartment. There was no staff member available except at breakfast between 8 and 10am - which was given on a tray in your room. The staff reminded us on numerous occasions during our stay that they would accept cash payment only - which became very annoying. I certainly will not be returning to this "Hotel"

Starlight Hotel is located close to Termini in what I call Chinatown of Rome. It is more a hostel than a hotel. The owners had been very nice and welcoming. The rooms were clean, modern and spacious. There is no breakfast room and therefore coffee and croissant with jam are served in the room. If one does not put great emphasis on breakfast the place is ok. Close by is public transportation and it is within walking distance to Termini.

It is not easy to find Starlight, suggested to at least print a map from www.mappy.com or www.uk.map24.com. Starlight located reasonally close to the train station, but that area is kind of a "poor" zone, i.e. dirty, untidy, unsecure feeling, etc. But to be fair, it turns out to be OK in my 3 nights stay. The reception door is in 3rd floor of a very old building without lift, so when I find it I need to drag my heavy lugguages to the 3rd floor and then the staff told me my room is in the opposite building! Then I had to drag my things back to ground floor again and fortunately there is a very old fashion lift in that building. Although the building is very old, the room itself is quite newly decorated, I saw some rooms are still under renovation. Room is big and clean and quiet; toilet and shower facility is also big and clean; bed is also big and clean, so I have nothing complaint about the room. You can have simple breakfast (bread and coffee) at your room (there is no public area like breakfast room). Staff is nice and helpful, can speak a little English. Overal speaking it was a good stay there, but if I go Rome again I may choose another location with a higher price.

We found the hotel quite easily. We expected from the other reviews that we would be searching for days! But it was fine. We had to go to find one of the owners who live in another apartment across the way. He was welcoming and told us as much as we needed to know and then let us get on with settling in so that was really nice. Overall, our stay was great and we were made to feel welcome by the owners. Would definately go back as it is such a great location and although the surrounding area is not quite an oil painting the inside of the hotel is immaculate and VERY clean.

Hotel was easy to find and near to the train station. Easily walkable. The welcome was fine and the room was lovely and clean, not massive but big enough. Price paid was good price for what we got. In room there was shower, toilet, sink, mini-fridge... but no hairdryer as one website said. Had to pay with cash even though it said you could pay with card. Colusseum area close enough to walk to, middle of the centre of rome quite a walk and could be tiring. Vatican is walkable to but much easier on the Metro. All in all though, glad I picked this one and not others.

I highly recommend Hotel Starlight if you don't mind having to walk quite a few blocks to get to the touristy areas. The hotel was really nice, much nicer than I expected and very small. Our room was extremely quiet from outside noise but if people are talking outside in the hallway in the hotel it is very noisey. The hotel is located in an apartment buidling and there is also a youth hostel there by the same name in a different section. You have to walk up four floors to get to the hostel but the hotel has an elevator. Since the signs are poorly marked, make sure you are going to the right one before climbing 4 flights of stairs with your luggage!! Also, THEY ONLY TAKE CASH. This was an unpleasant surprise, although they did say that it says this on the website. Just be prepared. The owners are extremely nice.
