Germany, Jul 2009
Saubere Zimmer.

Location was great and staff was very friendly. However, the hotel is in need of an update. The beds especially need replacing because the mattresses are so thin. All in all though, the space is big compared to other accomodations in Rome. It's not a bad stay if you are willing to give it a try.

Absolutely loved this accommodation. It’s location was perfect for our needs. We walked easily to all the sites we wanted to see of Rome, but had chosen Domus Julia as it appeared close to the Metro, which it was and we used to return to the airport (Ciampino). We’d read reports that it was down a side street and difficult to find, and although we had our reservations, we walked straight to it from Termini Station (20 min walk). There was clearly a sign for the Hotel Julia visible from the main street, which is where you go to check in and the hotel staff then take you to your room in the building next door. The staff were really friendly and showed us to our room pointing out where all the timed light switches were and the steps. We did have a bunch of 3 keys to use to finally get us into the room, but I’d rather this than a flimsy card affair with all your personal info on. The accommodation we found extremely spacious (by Italian standards), with ample storage and space to walk around the bed. The shower, although small had plenty of hot, fast-running water, but the bathroom was spotless and big enough to accommodate a bath if they’d wanted, so this extra space was fantastic. Breakfast was served in the hotel, this proved to be a somewhat busy time for the small breakfast area, but the food was more than adequate for us. We found several really popular local places to eat close by (2 min walk) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would most definitely stay here again, if we ever return to Rome.

First room VERY small...On arrival(& during stay)staff polite & helpful.Shown by a porter to the Domus nextdoor & via the lift to 3rd floor. The double room was at the rear of building& VERY SMALL for a "double superior" we had booked.Very disappointing.Asked for another room(one at least from good selection that was shown on this website!!)-told would have to wait until next day but then another room suddenly offered (!)& we moved down to first floor-larger room but front of building so i guess in summer could be noisy. We had windows shut("no airconditioning this time of year")but air con in summer & windows shut would block noise i guess.Only disturbed 1 night(out of 3 staying)by group outside in street/There wasn't kettle in room or in hall area for tea/coffee-even though mentioned "kitchenette" on their website(no kitchenette), but small bar in hotel next door/During 3 night stay only had hot water in bathroom for shower ONCE (early eve)not warm enough for bath -morning & later at night LESS than luke warm. Shower hose had to be held as no fitting(or broken?) above bath/Room was well cleaned each day (bath sealer would look nicer being replaced rather than black mould though!).Breakfast room in hotel very pleasant(avoid busy times as we had to wait for table!)& usually good selection which varied day to day)-rolls/croissants/juice/eggs(once!)/some tinned fruit(once!)/ham/cream cheese etc.Location very good for Trevi, Spanish Steps, Panthenon. Have noticed since staying the wording on website re rooms has change slightly-suggest requesting PARTICULAR room(s) BEFORE arrival. At 375 euros mid March 2006 (no special festivals)for 3 nights perhaps could do better-even if a little further from 'centre' where there are some wonderful places to stay?? Guess you have to weigh up the convenience of being so near that able to walk to most things.P.S Watch out for fluctuating prices in the shop at bottom of Via Rassella(then turn right)!!

It´s a perfect place to visit Rome, even with children; the rooms are very spacious, and the service is what it should be. Its 2 minutes walk from Fontana the Trevi, and 10 minutes fron Piazza de Espagna and Piazza Venezia, no need of public transport at all. I Don´t think for 88 € /night you could get any better.

Overall we enjoyed the stay, particularly because of the central location and proximity to the metro. The room was functional but fairly small and little noisy on Friday during the night and early morning. Arrival is best during the light as the street is a bit dark and the rooms are in a building adjacent to the hotel Staff were helpful, the room and bathroom clean and the breakfast adequate

We originally booked a room at Domus Julia, but upon arrival the staff informed us that we would stay at the hotel instead, because that would be a larger room since we had a baby and needed a baby cot. The room was huge and it wasn't a problem, just not exactly what we had expected.

We had a large bedroom for a family and it handled 2 parents and 2 adult children. The breakfast was terrific (breads, pastries, ham, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, juice, coffee, tea, honey...)and all delicious, and replenished constantly. Worth at least 10-12 euros per person easily. Dining area was attractive and roomy enough. Location was great - very close to many attractions. Couldn't have been better. Plenty of good restaurants too. Area was peaceful and comfortable and seemed safe. We enjoyed it thoroughly and would stay there again. Highly recommended.Staff very nice too.

Although this propertie generally had good reviews, we were very dispointed in the cleanliness (dirty blanket) and amenities (the shower was leaking so bad that we had to wipe the entire bathroom almost every morning, not to mention the blasting action of an open hose over your head). The staff quality was very uneven, from friendly in the day to flat out rude and useless in the evening. The only high point was the location. Not recommending, not coming back.

It was a wonderful stay in Rom. We have taken the shuttle service from the airport directly to the Hotel Domus Julia. After the check in in Domus Julia, a spaciouness room with two beds, we checked the surrounding. Very good place to visit Rom by feet. 5 minutes to spanish steps, 5 minutes to Trevi fontain. Also 5 minutes to Via Veneto and less tha 5 minutes to the Metro station. The hotel employees were very, very friendly and helpfull. They have given some good tips. The breakfast was ok. Not great by for italian way of breakfast very good. If we come back to Rom again, I would like to stay in Domus Julia once again.

We were very pleased with our stay at Domus Julia and would certainly recommend it. Both the owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed both the people and the hotel. It was very comfortable and all that we had hoped for. It was within easy walking distance of all the important sights. I would stay here again!

We enjoyed our stay at Domus Julia so well that we booked a room for our return trip to Rome the night before our departure back to the states. The staff arranged for a shuttle van from the airport for us at a reasonable cost of E $12 per person. Our room was lovely and the location was an easy walk to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Via Veneto, as well as other main sites. The hotel is only 2-3 blocks from the Metro station also. Breakfast provided was very nice. Will happily stay at Domus Julia or Hotel Julia in the future.

The "domus" is actually 2 doors down from the Hotel and is not marked. We got in late with 6 people and lots of luggage. We were given the keys with general instructions on how to get into our rooms. Needless to say, we felt very uneasy about the whole thing. We had difficulty figuring out how to use the air conditioner. The Hotel and Domus are on a dark and lonely street, and although we didn't have any problems, the number of locks nd doors we had to open to get to our rooms did not give us any comfort. We paid 340 dollars (two suites), which included breakfast, but desired to stay in another hotel the second night. The manager during the day was very nice and helpful, but do not feel this measures up to a "catagory one" apartment or townhouse. We will not stay here again.

Very helpfull staff, and very nice breakfast which was served in wonderful surroundings at the Domus Julia. This place is very recommendable. The room, staff, location is perfect. Only 5 mins walk to Trevi Fountain, 10 mins walk to Spanish steps, 15 mins to Collosseum. Everything is within walking distance. I would go as far as to reccomend this instead of a hotel. The price is almost half of any hotel with same standard. And the best thing is "No noise". It's very quiet at night, and the only thing you might hear is the remote controlled air condition ;-) All in all Domus Julia added to a very pleasant stay in Rome. And thank you to Venere.com for making our trip to Rome possible by offering us a "huge" varity of accomodations.

We found Domus Julia exceptionally clean, spacious, and beautiful. However, we had difficulty getting to the room we reserved, as they had double booked it and we had to stay in the hotel for 2 nights rather than the domus. Aside from that, and once in our room, we were more than happy with the accomodations. The location is exceptional for visitors and is within walking distance to most attractions, dining, and fun!!! The staff at Domus Julia were friendly and helpful, accomodating all our needs.

Domus Julia is wonderfully located (bus, subway, small trattorias and of course Trevi, piazza di Spagna, via Veneto etc). The rooms are spacious, comfortable, very clean and soundproof. The staff is kind and helpful. Just a suggestion : we would have liked to have bread for breakfast instead of the small cakes. We will come back and recommend it to our friends.

Rome is an amazing city- unfortunately the accomodation is very expensive. Domus Julia was an affordable option in the midst of overpriced hotels but still a little pricey. However they surprised me on my birthday with champagne and sweets- it was lovely - Ill definetely be back again
