The property is housed in an elegant Art nouveau villa dating back to the early 20th century, and set in a lovely garden with a swimming pool, whirlpool and terrace. It also offers wireless Internet access throughout the building, Internet Point, a small meeting room, and a bar.

Lovely hotel with v nice hosts. A 2 minute walk to the walls...

we stayed in the the suite which had a four poster bed, separate living room and a good sized balcony. The room was comfy and beautifully decorated, we enjoyed the balcony which is in full sun, and the air con was a life saver after a long hot day travelling!, as was the lovely little pool. Breakfast was plentiful, even a boiled egg is offered, unusual for Italy and perhaps a sign that most visitors are from the UK or America (at least they were when we were there). Particularly recommend travellers use the bikes available at the hotel to ride around the walls of Lucca. Its a fun way to see the city and its surroundings, and a chance to hang out with all the Italian families who do the same, certainly a highlight of our time there. The hotel is a 8 min walk to the city walls and then another 10 min walk to city centre, all flat, well lit and we felt safe walking home late at night. Parking is available and its easy to find, being right next to the football stadium (no games on while we were there so didnt have any issues with this). A little expensive i thought, but then it was also a little bit of luxury and it helped us finish our tour of Tuscany in style.

Villa Romantica is a villa in a suburban street within easy walking distance of the city walls. The owner, his family and staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Our only reservation was that our room was very small and consequently we felt expensive, compared with other hotels, in which we have stayed, in Tuscany.

We had a lovely two day stay at Villa Romantica. It was a two block walk outside the city walls, but the garden and pool at the Villa were a refreshing oasis after a day in Lucca and Pisa. Room was small but nicely decorated and very clean. Breakfast was very nice, served in a small greenhouse overlooking the garden. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine in the cabana next to the pool one evening.

Very nice B&B. Nice owners, very helpful. Quiet place, nice proximity to the walls. Great free bicycle use, we used them everyday. Nice for a short stay

We had an excellent stay at Villa Romantica - the only downer was the road noise - but even that was not too over-powering! Just bear in mind if you want to stay there that it is a fifteen minute walk to the centre of town. Our room was excellent - but we were upgraded to the suite - which was delightful. The pool makes a big difference after a hot day sightseeing - it is a very welcome place to relax and cool down! The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast excellent

Best hotel we have stayed at in years. Faultless. We took a suite - definitely worth the extra money. The walk into the centre of town was very easy and interesting, and good for the digestion after dinner.Using the free bicycles for a tour of the walls is a must.

The Villa Romantica lives up to its name! It is a charming, elegant, small family-run hotel. Pleasant garden and swimming pool. It is conveniently located a short walk from the old town. It is near a road that gets quite busy in the rush hours, so there is some traffic noise, but the effective air conditioning means you can keep the double glazed windows closed if you wish. Attentive service and lovely breakfasts. We shall be going back!

We stayed in a suite, which was really spacious and bright. Room servicing was excellent; clean towels everyday and replenished tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was a typical continental affair, with a boiled egg available on request. Public areas are limited and small, although there is a nice pool with outside seating area and a beautiful small garden. Unfortunately we were unable to take advantage of the outside areas due to bad weather. The main problem with this hotel is the location. It is very close to the walls of Lucca, which is convenient, but it is right next to a football stadium, a very busy road and a hospital with an accident and emergency department. The room was so noisy, we had trouble sleeping. I would describe this guesthouse as an oasis in an urban jungle!

Lovely house and garden. Quite a walk to town - thank goodness it did not rain. A car is needed really. Enjoyed our stay and the owners are very nice people. Loved the 'wall' and the views and the food but without a car a 3/4 day stay would have been sufficient to explore the town.

Stayed 3 nights in November 2007. Friendly owner and an excellent place to stay. Very good room and breakfast. No complaints at all. Great to be able to borrow the bicycles from the hotel to look around Lucca and the wall. Excellent town and surrounding area. The Garfagnana and the Apuan Alps are well worth a visit.

This is a nice B&B just outside of Lucca but we found it didn't live up to the rave reviews we had read. We booked in advance and requested a nice room as it was our honeymoon but the one we got was a bit dark and gloomy. Breakfast is great with a good selection of food including lovely parma ham and eggs. Unfortunately Villa Romantica is located very close to the hospital so loud ambulance sirens woke us up several times during our stay. Pool was closed even though the weather was still lovely and warm in October. Decor is very dated however some may feel this adds to the charm. Overall a nice stay but not an exceptional one.

I can highly recommend the Villa Romantica for a stay in Lucca. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. The Villa is close to the town walls and an easy and pleasant walk into the city of Lucca. The junior suite was well presented with nice furniture and decarations and a modern bathroom with whirlpool bath. The breakfast was of a high standard with fresh produce and good service.

Excellent stay. This is a family run hotel, and the Favelli family are extremely friendly and helpful. Although not part of our original requirement, the pool was enjoyable in the afternoon, when the rest of Lucca closes. The villa also supplies bicycles, and it's a very short ride into town, and then a level ride around the walls. Travelled from Pisa to Lucca by train - an easy journey (even with luggage) and inexpensive. Taxi from the station to the villa completed the journey. I recommend climbing at least one of the towers in Lucca to see the views (and take photos). Anyone staying at the villa on a Saturday will find an excellent market across the road, going around the stadium. I would recommend the Villa Romantica to anyone who wants to visit Lucca, or as a base from which to travel around the area.

We only stayed two nights (roundtrip)but the place deserves a longer stay. It was simply marvellous. The hotel is very tidy, the staff competent and helpful. The breakfast is a highlight and the surroundings invite to take a book, sit under a tree and forget the rest of the world.

Although we only stayed for one night, we had a lovely stay at Villa Romantica. The family who runs this quaint B&B just outside Lucca's walls is a warm, friendly, hard-working family who made our stay more than enjoyable.

Our stay at Villa Romantica was excellent value for money. It is a family run business and their hospitality and helpfulness was exceptional. They recommended fantastic restaurants, provided us with maps and directions and made us feel welcome. The overall service and accomadation for a bed & breakfast was superb. I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing a comfortable home away from home.

A great place to stay - just outside the walls of Lucca. Excellent value - very welcoming - quiet with small pool - which you might get to youselves. Also Lucca is an excellent place to shop as well as see the sights. We will return here.

The hotel lived up to expectations; the actual room was spotless with excellent facilities. The breakfast was well worth the extra charge and the personal approach of the owner was much appreciated, Nothing was too much trouble for him. The location was acceptable as a short walk (20 minutes) into the centre of the City was OK and well worth the effort. Lucca is a beautiful City. I would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a peaceful and restful stay in a beautiful part of Italy.

Villa Romantica is well located - just outside Lucca's City walls - a 5 minute walk to get inside, but probably 15 mins to the City centre. Staff were very helpful & friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Our room was comfortable with a lovely bathroom and it was absolutely spotless. However the bedroom was a little bit on the small side and lacked character to make it really special. Overall the B&B is very good - the building is nicely presented and our stay was without a hitch. Free parking is useful and the family run atmostsphere is great. Found it a bit limiting not to have a fridge and tea/coffee facitilies in the room, as you are 10 mins walk from any restaurants/ shops.

Villa Romantica is a pretty hotel--and the room was clean and spacious. It is not in the center of Lucca and is not in a really desirable neighborhood (next to the soccer stadium...) The staff was somewhat indifferent and we had real problems with the electricity going out--several times during our stay. We would be lukewarm in recommending this hotel--but to be fair, we didn't see any hotels in the heart of Lucca.

the hotel is a few minutes walk from the old town.our room was tastefully decorated, clean and air-conditioned.the family that run the hotel were very friendly and helpful.our only grumble is that the swimming pool only had 2 sun-loungers and some other unsuitable small plastic chairs.
