Stayed 3 nights in Florence in August. Beautiful room (Brunellesci), excellent location - could see the Duomo from our balcony. Reception very helpful, phoned and booked us tickets for the Uffizzi Gallery which saved us queuing for 4 hours.

Amazing view of the Duomo. Friendly and helpful staff. It was nice to get breakfast in bed.

This hotel is in a fantastic position, we stayed in the Leonardo Suite which has amazing views over the street and the Duomo. The double glazing and air con ensured a peaceful night, however, the bells and sirens still managed to wake us up in the morning. The typical Italian breakfast was served in the room, and was basic and satisfactory. The staff were welcoming and helpful and I would highly recommend this place for visitors to the city.

I would like to commend the owner Mariano who is very nice and accommodating. I would also like to mention Lorna for the excellent service and for being extra nice and for making sure we have everything we needed and more throughout our stay there. The room is okay but I would have preferred to stay in the room with a view of the Duomo...next time, maybe. We would definitely stay here again...not only because they have a nice place with excellent location but because of the people who made our stay really worthwhile and special.

We found our room at the front of the building suffered from traffic noise, notably buses which ran until late in the evening and again early in the morning. There was a lot of shouting in the street until the small hours during the week and at weekends from people leaving clubs/restaurants.I needed earplugs in order to sleep. The rooms were huge with wonderfully high ceilings, had great charm and character, were spacious, comfortable, well furnished - we had a four-poster!- and the bathroom had a hydrotherapy bath - a real boon after a busy day walking many miles! The staff were charming and helpful. An excellent location, within walking distance of everything you could hope to see.

The only down side to the room was the view of the interior courtyard, with laundry hanging out and trash from neighboring apartments. The interior was unique and the location great. It's dim in the room.

During our stay there we saw few americans families with babies and old man couples. I'm sure that it's better then other words can show that this perfect Town House you can choose for many reasons. Location - perfect for short stay in Firenze

It is a fantastic bed and breakfast.Pictures are not doing justice to the beauty of the room.We stayed in Michelangelo room and we loved it.Spacious, clean and warm.It was a great value for the price.B&B is located right next to the Duomo,5 min.away by walking from Accademia and 5-10 minutes to Arno River and naturally to Ponte Vecchio.Florance anyway is a smaller city compared to Rome so it is easier to manage your visits but we highly recommend this place for its location, soul, easy access and friendly&kind personnel.Their breakfast is also very nice, served in the room.We will definetely go back to Florance and stay in La Residenza.

Excellent location just next to the cathedral, beautiful rooms. Some problems with the bath tub. The jacuzzi didn't work. If you're going by car park it outside florence and take a cab.

The charm of this B&B is the rustic atmosphere. The rooms have not been upgraded, which contributes to its appeal. The staff is highly competent and friendly, and take a personal interest in your experience. The rooms could use higher wattage bulbs, since the rooms are rather dark at night. The location is spot-on for those who want to be close to the Duomo. Its central location makes it easy to walk around the central part of the city. Security is excellent. The breakfast is typical continental; the cappucino is excellent. Our room had a balcony facing the street, looking onto the Duomo. How more romantic can you get?

We stayed for 5 nights and were greeted warmly bu the owner running down the stairs to carry our bags. First class help with fixing return transfers to Pisa airport. The room was excellent although the spa function in the bath didn't. Although at the front and in sight of Brunelesci's dome it was not noisy - but then our triple glazed windows were closed as it was March! Very central and excellent for all Florence's best spots and restaurants. Having our own front door key was good. But suggared croissants should be banned.

The room was huge, it was at least double the size of all the rooms we stayed in during our holiday in Italy. With the recent very hot weather, the air conditioning was a welcome relief. The B&B is very centrally located in Firenze. You literally walk out the door, turn your head to the right and are looking at the Duomo. Most of the major sites are within an easy 5 - 10 minute walk, such as the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. The staff were very friendly and we managed to have a couple of conversations using our very limited Italian, however the staff also speak English very well.

Great location, right off the Duomo. Staff was friendly and helpful. Credit cards are accepted and 4% discount through Venere.com was accepted. Breakfast was another story. The cappucino was cold and watery, stick to the american coffee. Fruit cup was from a can and their croissant was not appealing. Overall, the experience was good but I did not wake up every morning excited to eat breakfast.

This residence is a great price for the location, but it does have a bit of a dingy, second-class feel. The room was dark and plain; the promised internet connection was not available; and there were perplexing mismatches, like an 8-cup coffee maker, but with coffee only for one cup (two of us were staying there). Our host was very personable and helpful and charming when he was there (he left at 5pm each night), and as I said, the location could not be better. Overall, I've stayed at better hotels in Italy, but I've stayed at worse ones, too.

We stayed here twice. Our first room (Dante) was at the 100E price - it was spacious and had a lvoely feel to it. The window (when opened) let in an unpleasant smell so we closed the window and it was fine. On our return visit we stayed in the 120E room. This had two balconies which looked straight onto the Duomo. The bells didn't wake us - close the shutters, glass doors and doors and you hear nothing. The hostess was lovely and helpful. A nice place to stay and very centrally located. You can't go wrong here.

What a lovely place to stay - Roberto made us feel so much at home, gave us so many excellent recommendations for restaurants and sight-seeing, and he is a consummate opera buff which went straight to our hearts. The location is superb with a view of the Duomo and in walking distance to all of the centro storico of Florence. It is in the heart of the city and yet has the peace of a country home - the web-site pictures admirably represent the serenity of the hotel. You will be given a key to the front door - don't worry about keeping your own late or early hours, la Residenza del Proconsolo will be your own lovely casetta for your stay in Bella Fierenze.

This was a wonderful surprise in Florence! Our Dante room was very spacious, had tasteful antique/traditional furniture and extremely high ceilings that made us feel we were staying in an old mansion. The bathroom had a large jacuzzi bathtub and shower (we didn't get the jacuzzi to work, but the size of the bathub invited us to take a bath). The breakfast, which was served to our room every morning, was a treat and had a great variety of food. The people at La Residenza were very warm and helpful - making our stay most enjoyable. Thank you Roberto and Valentina! The location can't be beat...you are literally steps from the Duomo and everything else. Additionally, the hotel has a computer for internet service at a reasonable price - better than the internet cafes on the street. Overall, a wonderful and memorable stay. I would definitely go back and stay at La Residenza when I come to Florence again!

Only down sides were meagre European style breakfast that was include, good coffee though, croisant & jiuce bit disapointing. &am wake up from local campanile was a bit of a shock first time, so take earplugs, no trafffic noise though, which is a blessing. Paola & Roberto are wonderful hosts.

We enjoyed our stay at this B&B. The location is great for exploring the city. I loved the room and the view of the duomo. The only thing we didn't like was that since our room was right next to the kitchen, it was kind of loud in the mornings. Otherwise, it was very nice.

We have spent 9 days in the Michelangelo room and it was a dream-like stay, absolutely fantastic. The room is in an old medieval house, high ceiling with beautiful old wooden beams, very large - about 5x5m, and beautifully furnished (the photo on the web page nicely reproduces its main features). It has a large and nice bathroom with a tub. We were very much impressed about the fact that the heating (hot water radiators) was switched on immediately on the first cool day of November, so the room was always comfortably warm. A copious breakfast with items of your choice (coffee, ham, cheese, fruit, yoghurt - you name it) is really served on the chosen morning hour - an extreme pleasure when you are not in a mood to dress up and rush out. There is some noise from the street - the cars are rare but Italians drive faster when the street is narrower. The location is fabulous - 100m from the duomo - the bells will wake you up. The internet is available through a fast telephone line; if you do not have any access to an Italian provider of your own, Paola and Roberto will set up for you an inexpensive dial-up service. Last but not least, Paola and Roberto are charming and very helpful people - it is them who make this place so enchanting and pleasant. We highly recommend it. Lis and Tys.

The room was very nice and the service was excellent. Roberto and Paola were great and very helpful in recommending and booking restaurants for us. Roberto helped us with all sorts of arrangements. The location, right near the Duomo, is great, however it also leads to my only complaint. The street noise was very loud and was non stop (all night ). After the first night we bought ear plugs and that allowed us to sleep. We had the "Leonardo room" which is on the Via Proconsolo side. Maybe another room off the road would have been quieter. All that being said, I would still recommend the La Resindeza, but bring your ear plugs.

La Residenza is an excellent choice for a discreet, romantic stay in the heart of Florence. Roberto and Paula, the proprieters of this intimate B&B, were extremely welcoming and helpful, though never intrusive. We even received several gifts in our room from them during our one-week stay, all pleasant surprises. Our room, which featured a balcony with a view of the Duomo and the Bargello, was quite spacious and spotless, the bed large and comfortable. The bath was impeccably clean and nicely furnished with a shower and whirlpool tub. Breakfast at La Residenza was excellent, not the usual roll and coffee but a very generous cart filled with fresh local delicacies. As others have noted, the location on Via del Proconsolo is noisy during the afternoon and evening hours. But things generally quiet down by 11 p.m. or so, so this was not a problem for us during our December stay. One nice feature (among many) was that we had the key to the front door, which allowed us to come and go after hours with no problem. Also, we were allowed to check in early and check out very early, receiving helpful assistance with our bags and in fetching a taxi. For the price, which was reasonable but not inexpensive, I found La Residenza a wonderful home away from home during our stay in Florence. The owners emphasize service, privacy and comfort. I would return without hesitation.

We were overall very delighted with our stay at "La Residenza". We had an enormously spacious room with direct view of the Duomo in just about 30 metres distance, 4-poster-bed and chimney, a very charming fin-de-siècle-style bathroom and having had a generous breakfast served in our room every morning thrilled us very much. The view of the Duomo ("a room with a view" ;-) causes quite a certain street noise level in the rooms, but we believe this to be rather inevitabel, if you want your accomodation to be in the inner city. And if you have a sound sleep, this won't disturb you anyway. Because of the small number of rooms you hardly meet the other residents, which allows a very intimate and quiet stay. On the other hand the helpful and friendly staff is at your side whenever you need them. Nice detail: if you have got a late flight, you are allowed to leave your suitcases at the reception. We will sure be back at our next stay in Florence and can wholeheartedly recommend "La Residenza" to anyone.
