Traveler Stories

Why I love Misano Adriatico

Whenever I think about Misano Adriatico I instantly smile and my nostrils flare up, reaching for that delicious smell.

It is the smell of a faint sea breeze floating around the colourful, buzzing evening market of Misano. As the sun falls away, dropping into the pristine Adriatic waters into the horizon, Misano’s fine-sand beaches are slowly emptied and the market hums as people make their way up to inspect all the goods on offer.

Encircled by bumpy green hills, Misano feels like a secret location you do not want to let slip. It is just as beautiful by night as it is during its long, hot days, and despite the beautiful beach and coastline to explore by day, it is hard to forget those warm evenings, the smell of the sea and steamy fresh fish dishes mixing with sounds of people scurrying around.

Answer

What is a good day trip for those visiting Misano Adriatico?

If you are interested in checking out what is beyond the borders, a day trip to San Marino might be a great option for you. Located only 30 kilometers away, San Marino is an independent republic contained within Italy. San Marino has an open border with Italy, so you are free to go in and out as you please.

Most people will head right to the capital, also called San Marino, though it is recommended that you park your car just outside and walk in because the streets can be narrow and difficult to maneuver. Walking around the city will bring a number of surprises, and you never know what you will find around each corner.

Insider Tip: If visiting San Marino, make sure to check out the local beer and sample some limoncello, a lemon liquor.
