Liguria is a region located on the coast of northwestern Italy, bordered to the south by the Mediterranean’s peaceful, blue waters. The landscape is rife with large, steep mountains that rise out of the sea and create a beautiful view at every turn. The most well-known city in the area is Genova, but Liguria is also home to many small towns filled with friendly Italians who take great pride in their culture.
Liguria Weather: In the summer months, the temperature can reach up to 27 degrees C, or 80 degrees F. The winter months often dip down to temperatures around 10 degrees C, or 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Where is Liguria? Liguria is located in northwestern Italy, bordered to south by the Mediterranean Sea. The region sits approximately 200 kilometers southwest of Milan.
The beautiful and unique sights of Liguria left me feeling amazed at the many wondrous creations that are on this earth.
One of the first things I noticed on my arrival to Liguria was the gorgeous blue waters that surround this great region. I got the opportunity to visit the beach with my family while I was in Liguria. I made sure to make a weekend out of the visit to the beach so that I could relax and enjoy the breathtaking ambiance.
Aside from going to the beach, I was also able to go to the museums, shops, restaurants and other landmarks that make this region so exquisite. Because I love Italian food, I wanted to take advantage of the authentic Italian cuisine. Everything I tried was delicious!
Although you can take a walk around town to see the local sights, you might want to consider a taxi or even a bus if you want to visit neighboring areas such as the Sanremo resorts. Definitely make time to see the mountainous areas that come out of the Ligurian Sea.
The beauty of Liguria can be appreciated a little more on an afternoon walk. The renowned architecture of the Genoa province provides a picturesque backdrop to your morning stroll. If you want to venture farther than your two feet can carry you, consider taking a train for those longer trips. There are train stations in almost every town, so you’ll easily be able to explore the area and all it has to offer.
Fun Fact: Pesto, a popular Italian sauce used around the world, is originally from Liguria.
Local Dishes: Fish and shellfish are a big part of the local cuisine in Liguria.
Local Day Trips: You can take a trip to the beach or walk around town to take in the sights and sounds of the region. You can also plan a trip to the Museum of the Sea, which is excellent for those who love sailing and ships.
Local Hot Spots: The Clipper Caffe is an excellent place to go and relax with friends or family.
A good way to begin experiencing Liguria would be to sample the local cuisine. You will be able to find a wide range of Italian restaurants that offer delicious seafood, pasta and tasty meats. A nice day at the beach can help you to relax before you begin to explore other parts of Liguria.
You can leave other adventurous trips for the second or third day of your visit. The Genoa Aquarium is one attraction that you do not want to miss. It is a perfect outing for the entire family. You will get to see a wide variety of beautiful fish and other types of animal species. You might even recognize some aquatic life you spotted earlier at the beach!
