Traveler Stories

Why I love Lake Garda

When in Italy, I made a point of visiting Lake Garda, a well-known Italian holiday destination.

Lake Garda is the largest lake in the country, and I quickly found that the small towns around its shores each have their own special personalities.

One memory of Lake Garda that sticks out in my mind is visiting all of the markets that the towns feature. Each town has their own market day, so you can explore several during your visit. Because I am a big lover of fresh food, I definitely took advantage of this opportunity. Never will I forget the amazing taste of a fresh perch that had been reeled in from the lake only hours before and then marinated in local olive oil and lemon.

Where is the best place to stay in Lake Garda?

Answer

Where is the best place to stay in Lake Garda?

There are a number of small towns that dot the shores of Lake Garda, and each has their own unique characteristics. Families might want to focus on towns like Sirmione, which have more of a tourist vibe and offer something for everyone. People who are looking to enjoy a bit of peace and quiet might be better to choose a town like Torri del Benaco or Bardolino.

You can also choose a town based on what type of activities you are looking for. If you’re a fan of fishing opportunities, for instance, almost any town on the shore will do. However, if you are interested in hiking, the best towns will be Torbole or Garda.
