Rooms are small, strangely crowded with sitting furnitures and huge office chair. no space to store the suitcase so it takes precious floor space. For such a price one can expect that breakfast will be included as with other hotels around Dam Square.

My second stay, at both stays I prefered du to location, very close to central station and shopping street. Very small windows... and small room. Still smiling staff and clean rooms. Ofcourse not compareble with swissotel Istanbul, which is a legend.

Nice room. Location is very central but in a quite busy area. Considering the small size of the central part of Amsterdam, we would rather have stayed in a less crowded and more peaceful area while still being close to the main attractions.

The Swissôtel Amsterdam is located in the heart of Amsterdam within walking distance to most attractions. The rooms are clean and large. Each room has its own coffee/espresso maker as well as a well stocked mini bar.The staff is very friendly and helpful. Public transportation ( taxi & tram ) is right outside of the front entrance. Lots of resturants and shopping surround this hotel. Central Station (railroad) is just down the street, making it easy to take day trips into Brussels, Antwarp, Harlaam, Den Haag and many other interesting places. We took the train into Paris. When visiting Amsterdam, make Swissôtel Amsterdam your headquarters.

The reception staff were especially friendly and helpful. They helped post my postcards and allowed me to keep my luggage for half a day after checking out. Location was good, about 10 minutes walking distance from the train station and within close walking distance to major attractions. We made a Good choice of staying at Swisshotel.

This place was amazing. Central to everything! The staff was very helpful, cheerful, and welcoming. Ask for a room on one of the upper levels where you'll probably get away from the street noice a little better.

Nice hotel, "superior" rooms were pretty small, even by normal european standards. I have no idea which room is featured in the photos! Everything was good though, staff very friendly and helpful. Would get a suite if I stayed here again.

Generally a good, clean, comfortable hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Only real problem was that the soundproofed rooms weren't very soundproofed and if you had a room facing onto Dam square it was very noisy all through the night.

We had great difficulty trying to find a hotel to suit in Amsterdam. We needed a double room and two single rooms. Unfortunatly, the weekend we decided to go coincided with a conference in the RAI and the Amsterdam Marathon, so space was at a premium. We finally struck oil in the Swissotel. It couldn't be more central and the rooms were large and very comfortable. All our rooms overlooked the Nieuwendijk and we expected it to be very noisy, especially with the presence of both MacDonald's and Burger King. However, the only noise we were consious of was the street washer and bin collectors and as they came around in the morning, they didn't bother us at all. Inside, the hotel was so quiet, we were beginning to wonder if we were the only ones staying there. We were very happy with the knowledge that only hotel residents could access the floors due to the fact that the key card was needed to open the lift doors. We also made full use of the safe. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the Toblerone left on the pillow every night was a nice touch. I found the price very steep. We stayed in a similar rated hotel in Vienna in June for €10 less per room per night and that included breakfast. The single rooms in Vienna, (which were small doubles) cost €81 less. It is very expensive being a single person. I found the breakfast was bad value in the Dam Plaza which is beside the Swissotel. It cost €20 regardless of whether one had the full breakfast or only a cereal and coffee. We only used it once and then found a much cheaper place up the road. However, we dined there in the evening on several occasions and were pleased with the prices and the quality of the food. We stayed there for 10 nights and really felt at home, especially my mother, who felt quite safe and comfortable in her room. She retired early and left us younger ones to paint the town red. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Swissotel and would stay there myself again, but would try for a be

Staff on reception cold. When arrived said they had prepared a nice room for us. In fact we were given a cupboard and after a few days of tripping over each other decided to leave if they didn't change it for a bigger one. It was changed after a discussion. Room service fast and of a good quality.

After being in Amsterdam a couple years prior, it was such a relief to stay at the Swissotel Amsterdam. During my first visit to Amsterdam, we stayed at what we thought was a good hotel in the Presidential Suite. Well, it wasn't all that Presidential. The Swissotel Amsterdam was exactly as expected. The rooms were very contemporary and clean. We had a room on a high floor with windows covering a full wall. Unfortunately, they were working on the front of the hotel when we were there, so the otherwise beautiful view was obscured. The view was overlooking Dam Square. I can't say more about the location! It was perfect! We backpacked through our entire trip and this was our first stop. It was a very pleasant and short walk to the rail station upon our departure. All the action is right outside your door! My only gripe is about the breakfast; way too expensive and not very good ($25 for 2 people). Without a doubt, I will stay here every time.

booked into the Swissotel for our anniversary after looking at the favourable reviews. We were not dissapointed. On arrival we were welcomed and was told we were upgraded from a superior room to a suite. We had a welcome note from the hotel manager and wished our stay a good one. The room was excellent, with everything of a high standard. The coffee machine was replaced on the second day with a new model (although the old one was ok). The staff were extremely helpful with any requests and we would recomend the hotel. We are to go to London in May and will hopefully book into the Swissotel there if the rates are as favourable. We originally booked a superior double room but when we got to the hotel, decided to opt for the junior suite as it was only 40 euros extra per night. We stayed 3 nights and found that everything was right on our doorstep. The hotel overlooks Dam Square. As you step out of the hotel, you have cafes, bars, resturants and shops. The Red light district is a 5-10 minute walk away. You can hear a slight amount of noise from outside, but nothing to keep you awake at night or to stop your relaxation. The hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam and we will definetely stay here again as it has everything we required.

Our stay at Swisshotel Amsterdam was extremely pleasant. Services by staff were outstanding. We would return and also recommend this hotel. Also I would highly recommend the use of the services at Venere.com. My only concern comparing this room to others we were in throughout Europe was the size. It was to crowded with furniture which made it difficult to move arround in, but this wasn't really a problem.

For a Swissotel I was surprised to discover that there was: No restaurant; no bar; no public rooms; pubic hair (s) in the bathroom; glop (!) on the chairs in the room; a cold cooked breakfast (s). A very poor hotel indeed.

Leaving the hustle and bustle of The Damrak behind and walking into the tranquil surroundings of the Swissotel is wonderful after a busy day walking the streets of Amsterdam. Friendly staff, wonderful rooms (though next time I will specify a smoking room so we don't spend half the time hanging out of the window to stop the smoke alarm from going off!) and peace and serenity in the midst of a chaotic city. The hotels restaurant is also fabulous with the best Panfried mussels I have ever tasted! After sampling the delights of several hotels in the City I have to admit I will not be staying anywhere else in future. Swissotel all the way for us!
