Located in the heart of a Swiss mountain village at the foot of the Matterhorn, the Walliserhof is a Zermatt boutique hotel in the Canton of Valais, Switzerland. The hotel is a few minutes' walk from the train station and the cable cars going up into in the Swiss Alps and the Matterhorn, where you will find snow all year round, making it a paradise for skiers! There is no better place in Switzerland than Zermatt for summer hiking, paragliding and mountain biking.
The Walliserhof Swiss Quality Hotel is built in the style of a typical Valaisan chalet and is fitted with all the latest facilities making it one of the best hotels in Zermatt. Unlike most upscale 4-star hotels, it has a warm and snug feel thanks to its wooden décor where you can relax after a full days skiing or hiking on the Matterhorn in the hotel's wellness centre with a sauna, steam bath or a Jacuzzi.

Outstanding stay in all respects. Beautiful property. All that said, it seemed a bit pricey to me, but I'm calibrated to the North American market, and it is in a resort area. All things considered I would definitely consider staying here again for a special occasion or for a short time while on vacation.

Excelent location, in the center of the city. The reception is badly placed at the end of a long and narrow lobby. Limited number of facilies and smaller room than in Hotel Hemizeus *** (also in Zermatt) where I stayed a year before. Staff was friendly and helpfull. No mountain view from the room's windows (which in Zermatt is almost impossible!)

How to reach Walliserhof Swiss Quality Hotel
By car
From directions: take the highway as far as a Täsch (3 miles/5 km from Zermatt) where you can park and then the shuttle bus to Zermatt. If you drive to Visp, you can park up for free and then carry onto Zermatt by train.
By train
From Brig: take the modern BVZ Zermatt-Bahn train through the rugged and romantic Vispertal Valley to Zermatt. The average journey time is about 1 hour 30 minutes.
