Lugano Dante Center Swiss Quality Hotel - Lugano

Breakfast, wifi, location, service is best among all hotels i stay during this trip! Just the day i checked out that maid did not know (or it did not in the list) and came to clean the room before i checked out and made the room messed up

Despite of the pics on web the hotel is nice, the staff excelent, the location perfect. And the breakfast... WOW, no other words.

What a great hotel. All the comments are spot on. Very friendly, helpful, happy staff who could not do too much for you. It was great that you could register on-line before departure and to be able to choose what you wanted in your room i.e extra pillows, drink in the fridge etc was great. The breakfast was something you had to experience. From raw carrots (yes we did see somebody making carrot juice) to Toblerone chocolate. In fact there was that much choice you did not know were too start. When we checked out we had only just finished breakfast but was offered cereal bars in case we got hungry on our journey ( we did not accept). The duck in the sink in the bathroom was a nice touch and this did bring a smile which is what it was supposed to do. There was free coffee in the lounge all the time and dishes of sweets and cakes in the reception. I don't think anybody passed without taking some. On the bar in the evening there were nibbles to help yourself and in the corridor were bowls of chocolate. What a great place and we will certainly be going back. We have already put a message on Trip Advisor and sent a personal e-mail to Carl Fontana to say what a great hotel he has and what a great stay we had.

The only problem was the bathroom.too small and not confortable.

Hotel Lugano Dante was just perfect for us although somewhat on the expensive side so not really suitable if you are on a budget - but this is Switzerland we are talking about. The rooms were very comfortable although not spacious but good enough for what we wanted. The hotel is somewhat old-fashioned in decor but that is part of it's charm and the service was very friendly and helpful. The big pluses for us were: a) it is a totally smoke free hotel - wonderful b) it is right in the heart of old Lugano and not far from the lake and only a 5 minute ride up to the station which is perfect if you are travelling in and out by train with luggage c) last but not least they offer a breakfast to die for. I would stay there again.

My wife and I had just completed a week hiking in the alps and living in more simple surroundings. Lugano was just a quick stop before we headed into Lake Como. Much to our surprise, the hotel, room, staff, breakfast and overall ambiance of the Hotel Lugano Dante were way more luxurious and comfortable than we had expected, a great way to "decompress". Because of its great location, we easily got here from the train station (just took the funicular down)and were within short walks of places to eat and shop. It was such a wonderful way to relax from the "ardors" of mountain life. We were tempted to stay longer but resisted only because we had made arrangements elsewhere. This hotel is tops on our list!

I had a good night sleep at this hotel. The hotel room was quiet and the air conditioning worked well and quietly. The hotel staff were very professional. The hotel is in a very convenient location, right down the little tram line from the train station. The hotel location was quiet though. A nice breakfast was provided.

Hotel staff have very poor knowledge of area restaurants and sights. Rooms are very small.

My husband and I stayed at the Dante while in Lugano for a dental meeting and absolutely loved it!! The staff were excellent and I found them to be incredibly pleasant, gracious and helpful. This was my fifth time I stay in Lugano Dante. I love this hotel, it is like my second home.It is so cozy and warm. And the staff there are so friendly and helpful.And the location is perfect , you shop and immediatly you put your things in your room, it is nearby everything.

Very convenient for the station.

My first visit to Lugano was marvellous and memorable, and the Lugano Dante was a major reason. The hotel is in a terrific location - in the heart of the interesting old part of town, with the unique aspect of being literally within 10 steps of the funicular directly into the train station; plus only 100 meters from the lake. The staff is intelligent, friendly, and responsive. The room was small but lovely, clean and quiet. The breakfast was truly superb. A huge variety of fruits, cheeses, meats, and breads...plus a range of hot and cold dishes. I'm already planning my next visit to Lugano, and I will definitely be staying at Lugano Dante. I won't even explore other properties!

Wie immer hat es uns in diesem Hotel ausgezeichent gefallen. Die freundliche Bedienung, das ausgezeichnete Frühstücksbuffet und die zentrale Lage sind weit überdurchschnittlich. Für ein paar Tage Ferien sehr gut geeignet. Für längere Zeit wohl eher etwas teuer.

Well worth staying at.

Best travelling by train, direct cable-car from railway-station to hotel. Located inmidst the old-city, very close to shopping, restaurants, lake (no lake-view). Also car-parking within hotel or near-by possible. Small, but clean room/bathroom, minibar for free.

People at the front desk very kind, very good breakfast, tea always available in the hall, internet, cake and sweets at the reception. We enjoyed our stay very much

Fantastic location, and great service from evryone at teh reception desk. The room was spacious enough and the breakfast offering was very generous and good.

I found the hotel rather outdated, time for some refurbishing. Parking facilities are good, location is good.

We were welcomed and walked to our room upon arrival, there was a very comfortable area for drinks and apps, and the location is PERFECT. We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the helpfulness of the staff. The only issue we had was a miscommunication when I registered online as I did not get the king/queen single bed for a couple but rather was registered for two double beds. They were helpful to accomodate the miscommunication, however.

The hotel definitely lived up to expectation. We were very happy with our 4 nights there. The breakfast was undoubtedly the best we had anywhere in Europe and the close proximity to the railway station (via funicular) was excellent.

We had a super experience at the Dante Lugano. It was ideally located and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. One couldn't ask for a better or cleaner room. The extras of candy etc. in the lobby were most welcome and the breakfast offerings were exceptional.

Every time we stayed in this hotel, we were happy abaout it. We shall come back for sure.

This was our first time in Lugano and staying at the Hotel Dante made it an even lovelier trip! The hotel is in the center of town, so it was easy to get everywhere just by walking. The hotel staff was extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and we loved the chocolates left on the table every day! The breakfast is simply to die for! It was a great stay!

I had a very comfortable stay at this excellent hotel in the heart of Lugano's shopping district. Cannot speak too highly of all services provided and the choice at the breakfast bar is unbelievable. Can thoroughly recommend it and will stay at the Dante whenever I am in Lugano.

Breakfast is great! something to try. Free mini-bar in the room and this is the first time I see something like.

This hotel is very old-fashioned and needs a refurb. The room was very small and the shower cubicle was tiny. I am average height and build (5'10", 12.5 stone) but I could hardly move in the shower!! On saying that the staff were very very helpful, the bed was really comfortable and it was right in the centre of Lugano, although not in one of the nicer squares. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. I would stay there again but for the money I would look for something better first.

Best hotel in Lugano

Located at the foot of the cable car that connects the station and the town it was very easy to find and convenient for exploring the town — we were not on holiday in Lugano but stopped overnight on the way to Italy. It being near the railway and the cable car I was afraid that the room might be noisy but that was not the case. Even with a jazz band playing right outside the hotel the room was quiet, and spacious. It was equipped with a sofabed though we had no need for it. Breakfast was excellent. For a 4 star hotel of this calibre the price I think is very good too.

Great Hotel, super service, great location

We were very impressed with the hotel. Our room was very clean and soundproof. The hotel offers a wonderful breakfast with a choice of eggs,ham, fruit, yogurt,breads,etc. as well as delicious hot chocolate. It was our first time in Switzerland and we fell in love with Lugano. It is a beautiful town surrounded by mountains, gardens and lakes. The hotel is located next to a funicula that takes you to the train station, so it is centrally located for any travel. There is an airport shuttle to take you to and from the airport.

Excellent location, the only problem is the price. Otherwise would return again for sure.

The best breakfast we've ever had.

The hotel Dante exceeded our expectations. Employees are obviously well trained for their respective positions. It was truly a pleasure to stay at this hotel; we very much liked the no-smoking in public areas. Our room was smoke-free also, and this added to the enjoyment of our stay. Thinking back on our visit, which was in late May, I wish I were still at the Dante! Definitely a wonderful choice for our return to Lugano after 37 years!

This was an enjoyable and memorable stay. Service staff was friendly and courteous. The quality of the service offer was excellent. The location in the old city gave an excellent access to all urban tourist services. ViaMichelin suggested access route was overly complicated and non-practicable. Hotel suggested access route is better and simpler. Follow the hotel signs in the city.

Book on the fly from internet cafe in Geneva for arrival at 11:30pm. Missed connection in Zurich so arrived at 4:30am. Night manager in suit and tie greeted us, checked us in promptly with our reservation, advised of the (free) breakfast that ran until 11am, gave us FREE passwords for in room wi-fi internet and sent us off to bed. In the morning we found the hotel was located in the heart of Lugano and the foot of the finicular from the railway station, and the piazza was full of music from the local conservatory which played all day including tunes from West Side Story. We wandered to the lake, took the boat across to Campione d'Italia and back, walked to the yacht club. Delightful town. Stayed an extra day. One of the best hotels I've stayed at in Europe -- for about 130 euros!

IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST HOTELS THAT I HAVE SEEN IN MY LIFE.PERFECT ORGANISATION.PERFECT FACILITIES.PERFECT LOCAL AND THE MOST COMPLETE BREAKFAST OF MY LIFE.ONLY THE GARAGE WAS A LITTLE BIT EXPENSIVE. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE MANAGEMENT.

We chose this hotel mostly because of the overwhelming positive comments from previous guests at the the hotel. And we were not disappointed, everything was excellent. A very good bed and linen, excellent bathroom and very soundproof. And a lot of small details that make you feel special as a guest. The staff is professional and all kind. Breakfast at this hotel is also outstanding, they have got everything. If you are looking for a central placed hotel in Lugano you can't get anything better. 2 travellers from the very North

From the moment we arrived at this hotel,the reception greeting,the car garaging underneath by automated means, the coffee while are rooms were checked, the entry to the room to find all wardrobe bags hung and cases ready it was clear that this was an exceptionaly well managed hotel.A bargain that made my 65th birthday weekend in lugano perfect. thanks to all the team.

My first choice hotel in Lugano

Good place to stay, even if there is not the restaurant. Quiet but not emotional.

This hotel was well above our expectations and standard expected to the extent we first thought we had misunderstood and the rate quoted was per night not for 2 nights but this was not the case. An excellent establishment.

THE HOTEL IS IN CENTRAL LUGANO, WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF EVERYTHING. ACCOMMODATIONS AND SERVICE WERE TRULY EXCEPTIONAL. THEY SERVE A BREAKFAST THAT IS SECOND TO NONE IN EUROPE. WE HAD SOME DIFFICULTY IN FINDING THE HOTEL. THE MAP WE GOT ON-LINE WAS NOT AS GOOD AS THE MAP WE PICKED UP IN THE PARKING GARAGE. I WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN, AND I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ALL....

Family of four, four weeks in Europe, many nights in many hoteles. "Lugano Dante" undoubtedly on the very, very top! Although would hesitate to call it inexpensive, it was money well spent.

A warm, welcoming hotel where every member of staff is cheerful and helpful. Fabulous buffet breakfast, air-con rooms (an upgrade but well worth it!), the most comfortable hotel bed we've ever slept in and allat a very good central location in the heart of Lugano. This hotel really made our holdiay and we can't recommend it enough. We will definitely be coming back!

This is the best hotel we've got in our 2 week european trip. We stayed in about 10 hotels and this is the best because of their services and stuff. I would recommend this to everyone.

Hotel was great. The standard double room was a bit small but other than that everything about our stay was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel. Ideal location, excellent staff, great breakfast, tea and coffee in the lobby all day, free internet in the lobby...etc.

It wouldn't hurt to allow customers to borrow an iron and an ironing board, especially when they arrive on saturday afternoon after the laundry service has closed and they need a fairly crisp shirt for dinner...

LOVED this hotel, loved its local, and the breakfast was AMAZING (unlike any other hotel we stayed in!!). Every employee was helpful, and its so easy to get to, you litteraly get off of the train, step on the little tram, and get a cool ride down the hill where it drops you off at the front door of the hotel!!

The overall service provided was excellent and the comparasion between what I expected and what I received was very high. One item that I did not expect: an additional charge for parking the car in the hotel garage. I thought hotel parking was included (at no extra cost).

Buona sera,ragazzi,da paolo, l'unico e capisco personalissimo,appunto del mio gradito soggiorno all'hotel Dante,riguarda i.............cuscini,ma non prendetela come un difetto,in quanto ho un cuscino personale,che probabiolmente non funziona per altre persone. Mi dispiace non aver avuto il tempo per degustare la prima colazione,che mi sembrava molto in tono con l'hotel.
