Beautiful location--right at the bottom of the funicular from the train station, lots of cafes, bars and restaurants around, lots of shops. Staff very helpful, computer available if you need it. Expensive, but relatively cheap for Lugano, which is super expensive.

A nice hotel in a splendid location in Lugano. We asked for rooms far from the funicular station and receieved them - so our night was quiet and undisturbed (the funicular was well heard at the lobby). A good (and relatively cheap, for Lugano) choice.

The only advantage of the hotel is the location, however it's located very close to a funicolare, so there is lot of noise... the rooms are very small and there it doesn't feel to clean...

The value for money is really poor : overall the hotel is nice but definitely too expensive for what it offers. The funicular leaves 2 meters away from the hotels preventing you from a quiet stay, moreover half of the hotel's rooms have a window view directly on a wall (very poor luminosity).

the room is just "2 stars"; the sink in the room, all is " old" just clean. In front of the window :a high wall at about 3 or 4 meters and especially the hotel is ABOVE the funicular that runs late in the night and early in the morning ;at 8 o'clock there was no more tea. Too much expensive for this room.

Forget what earlier reviews say about this hotel. This was the best of the 7 hotels that we stayed in during our Italy & Switzerland trip (the other 6 were all in Italy). Can get from station platform to hotel front door via the funicular in a jiffy. Steps from the main shopping area and lake front. Very friendly and helpful staff and nice clean room, although a tad on the small size. Then again unless you plan to spend the entire day in your room this is a non-issue. Noise from the funicular was also a non issue, disclaimer: we were in a room on the opposite side of the hotel. Very comfortable bed, had the best nights sleep in the entire vacation. Only downside was that breakfast was not included in the price. Oh and found a couple of ants in the bathroom, perhaps came in via the open window as the room backed onto a tall wall. Overall highly recommended.

We had rooms 417 and 418 rooms just above the "funicolare" (funicular railway). The noise every 5 minutes was terrifying. The experience at Acquerello hotel has been the worst I have ever had in hotels all over the world.

I was very satisfied with the hotel/service/location and the delicious breakfasts. The only disappointment was that there was no iron available at the reception desk so I could not iron my shirt. The paid ironing services were offered to me by the lady at the reception however the waiting time to get the clothes back was 2-3 days.

Acquarello is perfectly adequate. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and tidy. Position is very central but the entrance not very inviting. Compared to the cost of hotels in Lugano it is fairly good value but that is only because Lugano seems to be so expensive. Breakfast is adequate. If on a budget and only need a place to sleep in the night, and especially if need to be near the station it's a fair choice.

My stay wasn't bad. It was just a quick overnight stay while traveling. Others have complained about the noise (especially the funicular tram) and the lack of air conditioning. I didn't have problems with either. I stayed on the night of a national holiday, so that there was noise was to be expected. The room was clean. The bath was spacious.

Hotel seemed somewhat grubby and dowdy, and I would not feel enthused to stay there again. Luckily I was only staying one night. Breakfast was ordinary, and I was surprised to see a large tour party there - I'm surprised they could not have found something better (or maybe they were after something cheap).

Internet service did not work for the entire stay. Hotel clerk mentioned that it was regularly unreliable. Other than that, this hotel is perfect. The location is perfect. The room was the largest we had for our entire European excursion. Highly recommend as long as internet service isn't a must have. If it is, you can walk down to Burger King and access through Boingo.

The hotel is right at the city center, easy to find and just minutes walking away from downtown. My double room is fine, clean and spacious (of course relative to price). It is quite bright. However, if you mind the noise, this hotel is maybe not the choice. I did not sleep well there when the funicular worked.

The hotel is a nice place to stay. Staff is very friendly the breakfast buffet very nice and tasty. The only complaints come from the small train that basically passes through the hotel inthe evenings and mornings. I had no problems with it, however if you need a high level of quietness, this is not the place to go.

LOCATION IS EXCELLENT BUT THE TRADE OFF IS NO SLEEP ! ALSO THE FRONT DESK AND THE FRONT DOOR OF THE HOTEL LOCKED UP AT 11 PM .IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE KEY (ONLY ONE HEAVY METAL KEY PROVIDED),YOU WILL BE SLEEPING ON THE STREET!! ALSO YOU CAN NOT LOCK YOUR ROOM FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE WITHOUT A KEY. THEREFORE I COULD NOT GO OUT WHEN MY WIFE WAS TAKING A SHOWER(CAN'T LOCK ROOM DOOR FROM INSIDE). OVERALL THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN .I WOULD SPEND MORE MONEY AND STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE TO GET SOME SLEEP.

Note positive: Ottimo rapporto qualità / prezzo.

Poor welcome from receptionist, who we phoned when unable to find hotel. Given poor directions - near cablecar, of which there were three - and hotel was in a pedestrian only precinct and we were in a car! Not visible until right outside. Restaurant sign clearly up but receptionist rude when we asked if the hotel had a restaurant. All staff left overnight. Lobby sealed off with security shutters. What to do in an emergency? Cablecar began 5.20 am and ended at 11.50 pm. Passed right outside our window at very frequent intervals. Receptionist on next morning more efficient and helpful and impressive command of languages.

For a Swiss hotel at this price, it was a really good deal. The location of the hotel is perfect. It is close to the shopping area and a short distance from the lake. The train that connects it to the train station is also very convenient. Although there have been some comments about the noise from the train, we had quite night sleep. Not a bit of noise. I spent one night at the Comfort Aquarello Hotel in Lugano, Switzerland. The location of the hotel was excellent; right next to the transport link from the railway station into the centre of Lugano. The hotel was an ideal location for myself as a single female; everything was easily accesible. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was excellent for its purpose. It was clean and had everything I required. Thank you!

This hotel was very nice and exceptionally clean. The staff was very friendly. The ease of access to the train station could not be beat, but there's a price to be paid for that location. The noise from the funicular was more than we expected and the room was very hot. Only a tiny fan was available to cool the room. I think we might choose a place a bit farther from the funicular if we were to go there again. Still, a nice hotel.

This is a nice hotel. The location is fantastic right near the main train station and in the middle of everything. The family who runs the hotel are very helpful and friendly. However, as you can see from the pictures of the hotel there is a funicular running through the centre of the hotel. We had a room near the track and while the hotel has installed block out shutters and made efforts to reduce the noise, it really is very loud. Enough to shake the walls. Note the funicular is active between 05.20 - 23.59 and is particularly active in the early morning rush hour leaving every 2 minutes or so. I liked the hotel, but could not recommend it unless you can get a room well away from the funicular track.

There is a definite gap between the prices quoted in the net and the actual charged. The case is the following : Our family is of four people including two kids age 6 yrs. As such we have booked many hotels through your website where we have taken double rooms and have requested the hotels to provide one additional bed in the room. For cases where it is not possbile, the hotel communicates accordingly. In this case however, there was no communication leading me to believe that there is no problem in the same with this request (this was put as a remark to the hotel while booking the property through your site). But onreaching there I found that they charge CHF 60 (CHF 30 per kid for giving me one bed extra), this was ridiculous. I have already known my displeasure known to the hotel about this, but overall I couldnt do a thing and had to shell out the money. On this account, I felt cheated. Warm regards Jayant

Nice familiar hotel, not expensive, considering the level of prices in the country, right in the city centre. Not indicated on maps and taxi driver did not know the place. In fact, it is just ten meters from the cable railway coming down from the station. Prospective guests should be told this: on the one hand, it is extremely convenient if you come to Lugano by train; on the other hand, light sleepers may be disturbed by the sound of the cars, which go up and down every few minutes until late in the night and from an early hour in the morning. I had a room just opposite the railway and found it a bit unnerving, though I went to sleep just the same. It should be possible to ask for a room at the other end of the building, where the railway is probably less heard or not at all. Lugano goes to sleep very early and at 9 PMalmost all reastaurants are closed. It would be nice if light meals could be obtained at the hotel at least until 10 PM. There is a bar, but it seemed to attract only beer drinkers (very respectable and quiet ones, to be sure). A good place to stay if you are in Lugano on business, and I shall stay there again.

Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. We were worried that the funicular would be very noisy but it was not too bad. The main problem we had at the hotel was that the rooms were very hot and an overhead fan would have made a difference. The reception area was rather scruffy but the staff were nice and for the price we paid we had no complaints
