Bernina Swiss Quality Hotel - Geneva

Perfect hotel for a short stay. So conveniently located. Most pleasant stopover.

Geneva is an outrageously priced European city - expect anything you do there to literally cost at least twice as much as Italy or Spain, for example. Hotels are no exception as Geneva was recently named the most expensive city in Europe for a hotel room. This room was OK but not for the 162 francs per night we paid, when a significantly better room in Milano was less than half that. The location is good, right in front of the train station and very convenient walking to most attractions, restaurants, shops, etc. Staff is Swiss so polite but not too friendly or helpful. Breakfast is included but not much to talk about.

Pro: near to train station and to the centre, Lake about a 5-10 minute walk cons: breakfast should be variety

Only 1 advantage: near to train station. but poor envirnoment inside room, dark, not clean and very old. super small toliet, with dark lighting. strange smell inside room.

Friendly three or two and a half star hotel near the railroad station. Small room but what one expects for the price.

Excellent Hotel,central to transport and restaurants.The only problem during our stay was temporary lift failure.Otherwise no complaints. I would highly recommend this hotel and Venere for booking.

Good location, modern room.

Smelled a little smoky, overall a pleasant stay. Right across from train, free transit pass, and right around the corner from shopping and restaurants. Lake about a 5-10 minute walk, safe once you get around the corner.

Improvement in the breakfast: There should be variety e.g. English, continental, traditional

[Good points] close to SBB Cornavin, free WiFi, wider single-room. [Poor point] noise from upper floor.

Very good because it was s central (right next to the railway station and bus and tram stops). We were using public transport and a big bonus is that the City of Geneva gives visitors free public transport -- issued through the hotel.

Very nice,comfortable,very clean,all the bus links at 3 steps really 3 steps) from the doors of the hotel,no noise from the street.as you arrive,the receptionist gives you the free bus card for all the period you stay.8 mnts of walk from the center and the ONU area.good breakfast.

Friendly staff, helpful with infos on transport, restaurants etc., free wireless LAN (you have to go to the lobby though), restaurant next door serves food until midnight, convenient location (just across from main train station, lots of restaurants in the neighborhood)

El Hotel Bernina es una buenísima opción para aquellos viajeros que no buscan excesivos lujos, pero que precisan de una habitación agradable y a un precio económico en la que pasar varios días. La ubicación (justo enfrente de la estación de tren y a dos pasos del Lago) es inmejorable para darse una vuelta por la ciudad, acercarse a las sedes de los organismos internacionales (los tranvías 13 y 15 que encontraréis a menos de 20 metros te dejan allí en diez minutos escasos) y hacer viajes en tren por Suiza. La limpieza es extraordinaria, el personal es muy muy amable y el desayuno es bueno y abundante. Las habitaciones son bastante grandes y luminosas (todas exteriores, con TV de plasma y caja fuerte gratuita) y el baño es amplio y cómodo. En el hall hay una salita con WIFI gratuito (eso sí, habrás de llevar tu propio portátil), en donde puedes tomar de manera gratuita tantas infusiones como desees. Una recomendación: en la pizzería que está a la izquierda de la entrada, os ponen unas pizzas buenísimas y muy grandes por tan solo 16 francos (10 euros al cambio actual).

Breakfast is not exellent, but is included (this was hard to guess from the hotel info). Overall, the price is 'nice' and the position is strategic: 10 min walk to the city center, all need public transportation just in front of the door, restaurnats and shopping center. Perfect for a short visit to Geneva.

Quite pleased with my six day stay in October 2005. Only problem was loud nightlife outside. There being no air conditioning it was necessary to keep windows open. On an earlier stay in the heat of summer in 2004 I found the lack of AC or even a fan made for very uncomfortable nights.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed, especially its chilly service and shabby room. I doubt why this hotel can be classified to 2- star.

Fairly good

Great location directly across from the train station and in central Geneva. Very clean hotel and staff was accomodating. We arrived in the late morning and were able to check in right away. Would recommend... comparable to a 2-star hotel in the states but cleaner!

The Bernina is a good tourist class hotel, located very centrally. I was in Geneva on business, and would have stayed at the Bernina for my entire week if rooms had been available. I had a single room, which was clean and nice, allthough I missed a larger desk as I often take work with me "home" from meetings, and also like to prepare before leaving the hotel in the morning. If working at the UN, this hotel is ideal. Just outside the main entrance you will find the tram to go to Place de Nations and the main UN building.

Exceedingly central hotel. No frills, but it would be difficult to find another so cheap in Geneva and in terms of cleanliness and quiet there are no complaints at all.

Next time I will prefer a better one.

Albergo decoroso, economico rispetto alla media degli alberghi ginevrini, pulito, ubicato in zona centrale (di fronte alla stazione centrale). Mi ritengo soddisfatto sia del servizio che del prezzo

The decor was a little drab but apart from that everything was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
