For us train travelers, excellent location just across from SBB Bahnhof. It's a bit of a walk to major attractions and museums, but again this is fine with us. The hotel was totally quiet at night, even though near the Bahnhof. Superb staff. Room elegant but a bit small, even by Swiss standards. Breakfast room is quite beautiful, and the included breakfast was excellent, with very many and high quality choices. This is a top notch bargain for the price, remembering that Switzerland is pretty expensive generally.

This hotel was very nice, but I am always shocked when I book something in Switzerland. This country is so absurdly expensive. You pay for a palace and get a room that is only slightly larger than the bed. I had to squeeze to get into the tiny shower. However, the staff were very, very friendly and also very helpful. The service is top of the line, but you have to live with the elevated pricing (which, i assume, is normal in Switzerland). It is clear that it is a family hotel; the atmosphere is very friendly. Breakfast was also very good, and the location of the hotel is ideal. The surroundings are great.

Unfortunately we only had one night at St Gotthard. Staff were very helpful & although the room was a bit small, very clean, contempory & well laid out. Also enjoyed the variety of art works displayed in both public areas & room. Especially the dining/breakfast room & foyer. Will definately stay again on next trip to Switzerland.

E' un bell'albergo situato in ottima posizione logistica, di fronte alla stazione ferroviaria SBB (a Basilea c'è anche una stazione ferroviaria centrale) e dal quale si può raggiungere il centro storico di Basilea in 10 minuti a piedi o con tre fermate di tram. Le camere sono spaziose e pulitissime, il servizio impeccabile e la colazione ottima, variata e abbondante. Se torno a Basilea, non avrò dubbi a sceglierlo ancora per il mio soggiorno.

The hotel was extremely comfortable but became very hot during the night.The breakfast was excellent and the staff were all very helpful.

I was really impressed with this hotel. The staff were very welcoming, the rooms were spotless and the breakfasts delicious! The hotel was also in an excellent location - so easy to get to from the airport (Bus 50) and was next door to a very cheap supermarket. It was just a short walk to the old town, which was very well signposted. The hotel room we stayed in was a bit on the small side for the price, but was very clean and I would certainly stay there again.

Hotel was very clean with newish furnishings throughout. Breakfast buffet was first class. Did not find any nice restaurants in the immediate vicinity but we probably should have asked at reception as they were helpful in other respects.

The hotel is nice however we were given a room beside the service lift on the first night and this was dreadfully noisy (all night). To the Hotels credit they moved us to another room for our second night and we received an upgrade as well so this made up for our first sleepless night. There is not a lot of information provided about the city of Basel on check in regarding what to see or do (if you are there on holidays) however guests are provided with a free travel card to get about the city using the very reliable tram system. Staff were helpful when we requested a room change and when we experienced internet connection problems but a friendlier reception upon arrival is something that needs considering by management. The Hotel has a beautiful restaurant but unfortunately it is only used as a breakfast room (and clearer information of where one can eat close by would also be welcoming given there is no restaurant in house). If you are arriving in Basel by train it is well positioned across the road from the main station and very easy to access and there is a great supermarket next door to the hotel for supplies.

Great hotel. All staff was nice. Elisabeth, at reception desk, was a really good assistant. Breakfast was very good. My best choice in Basel.

I was very disappointed upon check-in to learn that the hotel did NOT have my reservation, made through your website! I did have a printed confirmation and presented it, and the hotel did honor the price, but my room faced the train station so was quite noisy.

It was a marvellous to find such a lovely spot after our trip from Australia. Got a great haul of "brownie points" for picking this hotel. Excellent location, good breakfast and friendly service from all.
