The rooms were very small and you could hear people talking in the next room. The rooma had a smell. I stayed there for 4 nights and the 2 of them, mobody cleaned my room (when I complained they said they forgot). Hand soap and shower gel I didn't have. Great location thought. I wouldn't stay there again.

+ excellent location, friendly and accommodating staff - very dirty, the room was not properly cleaned before we arrived. there was hair on the bathroom floor and the bathtab as well as the basin were dirty from the previous occupants. even though the room was pre-paid we had to pay extra 50 euro deposit which was then returned to us at check out

The rooms were quite clean (even if when we arrived we found a cotton swab in a corner under the bed). We booked a double ensuite room but we were given a twin room with the two bed jointed which kept on separating at every little movement during the night. Finally, when we checked in we have been asked a credit card as a guarantee, and my prepaid has not been accepted even if it was valid when I paid the whole sum for the room before leaving. Fortunately my boyfriend had one, but in a few minutes I received a notification from my bank saying that the Hotel had charged me with the cost of tourist taxes and key deposit. (77,15€) They charged both our credit cards without our authorization and none has been able to explain if it was only a require of authorization or if we actually paid twice for it. It's a too big and expensive hotel for a young couple and I would not recommend it. It was just comfortable thanks to its central position.

Room very small (#401) 10 m2 bathroom included !! For a 3 stars, it's unbelievable to propose this kind of room at 140 € ! Only 1 lift ! At each time 10-15 mn to wait for this lift and go to the room.... Except the location (closeby the center of Amsterdam), not a very good place

The stairwell was dimly lit with somewhat uneven steps. Thus, not good for anyone with mobility concerns. I was completely turned off to this hotel by a card placed on the room desk. As if speaking for the guests, it stated "I do not need my room cleaned - I can do it myself" -- thus "helping the environment". If I wanted clean towels they could be left outside the door and I could bring these in myself. If I agreed with this, I could leave this card outside my door. Who did thy think they were fooling? WHAT A CON! I've never heard of such a thing! When I am on a holiday and pay for a hotel, I enjoy having my room tidy when I return from a day's outing. Employing cleaners provides honest work and income for many people. I will NEVER return to Hotel Eden Amsterdam for this reason. If other Great Westerns are also doing this, I will stop staying in these also.

Expensive hotel also for car parking (30 euros per day with discount, else is 48 euro per day!) but very good. Our room was always with smoke smell, and tell this to reception didn't help... Anyway very good hotel, not in the middle of center but really close to it!

I booked a room at the Eden Amstel Hotel but upon arriving they told me I had been transferred to the Eden Rembrandt hotel in the adjoining building and that we were lucky because that hotel had an extra star. However, upon arriving in the room it turned out to be extremely small and the bed was so small me and my wife wouldn't fit without the risk of falling out. Upon returning to the desk we received a bigger room with a better bed. However, although clean and accommodating the rooms of the business style Eden Rembrandt hotel were by no means as nicely decorated as the rooms depicted for the Eden Amstel hotel. Which was quite the dissapointment for us.

Initially we booked a standard room but upgraded as these rooms did not have a river view the room could not really have been classed as an executive room and we were charged extra the hotel is centrally located an within walking distance of all attractions

Location is perfect. We arrived at 11 am but we couldn't enter in the room because it was not readi. We had to enter at 15.00 pm!Also, thei take a local tax (27 euros)on the price u have paid! And take 50 euros as a deposit in case u use something from the frigobar. Never had this kind of treatment all over the Europe. On 31th December the doors on the back(Rembrandt Square)were locked, so we were less safe and we had to walk more to get in the hotel!Aniwai, staff is competent, kind and alwais helpful if u ask for a taxi or ani information. The room was little but realli clean. We had a kettle as well with ani kind of beverage.Confortable.To use tv u had to pai.I think it is not fair.If I want to see normal tv I do not have to pai!

Great Hotel located few steps away from Rembrand plein. Just one disappointing: the breakfast price which doesn't really give you for your money. If you want to spare, don't hesitate to go to the Schiller Hotel with a Continental Breakfast Buffet for half of the price.

We had a good stay at Eden. The staff were very helpful when we needed assistance. The decor and quality of the hotel was good. The room was smaller than expected, almost too much furniture inside which made it a bit cramped with our backpacks, but there was a wardrobe to use. The double bed was actually 2 single beds pushed together but the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, but not unmanageable. The room decor was inviting, we had a tv and a safe to lock away our important items. It was very quiet and we were not disturbed once during our stay. The lift broke down twice while we were there, but we are young and the stairs were no issue for us. The lobby area had free internet and several computers to use. The buffet breakfast is not included in the price, but it was worth paying for on our last day when we were running out of time to find another place to eat. The hotel is well located, only about 10 minutes on the tram from Centraal Station. It is also located near Rembrantplein and there were several good places to eat there. The tram station is only a 2 minute walk away, but we walked to alot of places. The Red Light District is only a 5 to 10 minute walk away. The concierge could not have been more helpful. We would stay here again as we beleive we got value for money.

We all enjoyed our stay at the Eden, largely because of it's excellent position and the exceptional value for money. My only criticism would be that I felt the corridors and communal areas were overdue for refurbishment and our room faced onto a wall which meant it was difficult to tell what the weather was like! There was also a shortage of storage space, but considering what we paid it was still very good value for money.

The room was rather small and not the cleanest I've stayed in, plus the people upstairs sounded as if they were coming through the ceiling. The location was good and I have stayed at this hotel previously but was slightly disappointed this time. Plus no one mentioned the city tax until we were leaving????

Hotel had great position, spacious and clean. You could walk everywhere. Rooms also excellent. The room rate we got via this website was very competetive compared to hotel quoted rates. Diamond factory tour was good and free. Steaks in Amsterdam restaurants some of the best we've had.

Eden Hotel has been one of my favorite places in my many visits to Amsterdam. The location is about as good as you can get with walking distance to most places of interest. One of the hotels attributes that I admire most is the old "Amsterdam" style architecture. I am very fond of the old style structures and staying in one of them is a treat for me. Just because it is old on the exterior does not mean an outdated interior. The lobby and the room furnishings were tastefully done. I made the mistake of booking a standard room on my last visit and found the room extremely small with barely enough room to change my mind. I immediately returned to the reception and upgraded to a superior room which has plenty of space. The beds are soft and comfortable with clean sheets. I will stay here again on my next trip.

We reserved two rooms very early at very low cost (32€50 each person). For such a price I expected very low quality. My surprise was huge when I saw the rooms, with charming decoration, waterboiler for tea or coffee, a real bath, hairdryer and ... view on the Amstelchannel! A dreamlike journey! Thanks!

Good choice. I enjoyed my stay a lot. And yes, it's true, breakfast is really sparse. There are a lot of great places to have breakfast close by. I'd recommend going there. Location, view and value for money is hard to beat.

Room was fine, newly refurbished, but view was of a brick wall maybe five feet away. That's the chance you take with discounted rooms, though. The first room offering is always on a lower floor, always near a lift (noisy), and always sans view. The young lady at the reception desk pretended (poorly) not to know that the room was next to the lift. It was fine for one night. Location was very good.

I thought this hotel exceeded my expectations. I was expecting a quiet small space and we were given an apartment overlooking the canal with planty of space and additional amenities. I would definitely reccommend them to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

A comfortable hotel with friendly staff, rooms are small but comfortable and clean. Unfortunately we were disturbed every night until 4.00 in the morning by people returning home from night clubs but maybe we should expect that in the city. Although we thought the price of the rooms was reasonable, the price of breakfast and very high cost of car parking almost doubled our expenses. If we return to Amsterdam we would stay further out where we can park at the hotel and use the excellent public transport to get in to the city.

When I made the booking I requested a twin room, on arrival we were given a very small, dark, double room. After speaking to the reception he eventually found us a twin room which was a big improvement on the first room. When we arrived, we were given no information about the hotel, location, places to visit, breakfast etc. There was no tea/coffee facilties in the room and when we mentioned this on leaving, we were told, we should have asked??? On leaving there were 5 members of staff behind the desk, chatting between themselves, for a full 5 minutes, it was not until I asked if we were invisable did anyone deal with us. There was a dark haired, slim gentleman who was very rude and short when we spoke to him. Overall I would not stay there again, although it is in a great area, some of the staff could do with a course in good customer service.

On arrival, the staff could not find any record of my CONFIRMED reservation. This took far too long to sort out. Also, I was charged an additional E3.25 City Tax and E16 breakfast although I was quoted a "total price" of E69. The check-in staff didnt know where the Arena is, and sent me in the wrong direction causing me to miss part of a concert. However it is a good hotel, well located on the river and very near lots of restaurants/bars etc. I would stay there again.
