Starhotels Splendid Venice - Venice
Sestiere Di San Marco 760 - Venice
877-662-6988Accessible via gondola or speedboat, this luxury hotel faces a series of romantic bridges and charming Venetian facades. The collection of intimate and quietly elegant settings that make up the hotel's interior resemble that of a private Venice Lagoon palazzo: from the music room to the media room, from the bar to the restaurant, from the library to the ample terrace with stunning views over the rooftops of Venice.
At the centre of the Starhotels Splendid Venice, the Campiello Lounge is a Venetian-style courtyard covered by a retractable glass roof to ensure year-round use. Bathed in natural light and heated in winter by a large fireplace.
Note: Pets are accepted with some restrictions.

The Starhotels Splendid Venice is a very attractive and well appointed hotel, however the service is very poor and often rude. The room was well appointed and of a size expected for Venice, with a stunning marble bathroom and very comfortable beds. Breakfast was included which was adequate with a limited variety of food (coffee takes a long time to arrive). The most disappointing thing about the hotel was the rude service we received from staff, service was at times non existent or if it was available, arrogant. Was surprised after reading the Starhotels directory about how committed they were to service and hospitality (???). One incident resulted in the reception staff member having a tantrum and making me call Switzerland to resolve an issue with their wifi (they were handing out used codes) resulting in the manager getting involved. Overall, the hotel is very nice on the surface with good access to attractions, but lacking any real committment to service or hospitality. I would not recommend a stay.

My two older children and myself travelled to Venice for two days and stayed at Splendid Hotel. Lovely, comfortable, beautiful bathroom, breakfast was more than we expected. Location was fantastic; close to St Mark's and Rialto Bridge. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to others!

Good all round package. Excellent location between Rialto and San Marco. Doesn't have great views but has been recently renovated. The restaurant was excellent as was the breakfast.

We had an great holiday enjoying the tastefully modern interior in such old world surroundings. The staff greeting us for breakfast was very welcoming. The location was ideal for being central to St Marks Square and Rialto Bridge. Would happily stay there again Mr and Mrs Terry and Brenda Webster Wakefield England

Brilliant. lovely hotel, very friendly helpful efficient staff. right in the centre very close to Rialto bridge/St Mark's Piazza. Could watch gondolas going past while enjoying a Bellini cocktail in the bar! We were sad to leave.

Hotel is in a perfect location, between Rialto and |Piazza San Marco on a quiet canal. Excellent is you enjoy shopping and sightseeing. Surrounded by great restaurants. Easy to get off the beaten track if you desire. Staff friendly and accommodating. Nice breakfast, not just continental. Very impressive value for the price. Can't wait to go back

The room provided was very big like a suite room. Even though it is old but well maintained. The rate is reasonable considering the location and the room offered. Since the hotel is located between Rialto and San Marco, it is difficult to reach by a water bus especially if you are travelling with a big suitcase. We have no choice but to use a water taxi from the hotel to the station and it was expensive.

It was our 20th wedding anniversary. We enjoyed very much our stay at this hotel. We liked the modernity of the interior architecture compared to the other hotels which are too classical for us;Besides,we appreciated the service and all the details that make our stay pleasant. We would like to return ASAP !

The hotel was lovely apart from the coldness of the front desk staff, they were perfectly competent but really not too interested in providing any additional advice or help when it was asked for (details on the busses to get to the airport, the ferry timetables etc)

That was our first stay in Venice and the Hotel was beautiful and duly located for tourist visits. The only problem we 've had is the noise done by the cleaners every morning at around 7.30/8.00 that are getting their stuff and hoovers: they should be more careful; the breakfast is enormous and the price we've had was of good qualitY. the room was nice and clean but quite small for a superior room we were missing quite a lot of space in the room, however the bathroom was of a big size!!

This was our first trip to Venice, and we could not have picked a better hotel. The location was excellent, within easy walking distance of the Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal. The hotel was a warm relaxing place to be, and our room overlooked the canal, which allowed us to watch Gondoliers go by while relaxing with a cup of tea. The staff were polite and helpful, while not being intrusive. The room was spacious and clean. I would definitely recommend eating at the hotel, as the food was very good. The breakfast was great, with a varied choice to suit most tastes. We liked Starhotels so much that we have booked with the same chain for our Rome trip.

The direction to the hotel were non-existant and this makes finding things in a water city difficult as a result we where ripped off by the water taxis. In fact whilst Venice is a great city and we enjoyed our stay the service from staff in many places was throw away and overpriced.

I gave competence of the staff a 7, because some of the the staff were amazing in their knowledge and some were mediocre. I think that they were training some staff because everytime I asked a quesion, they called the same staff members to answer it. That's not good service, as you had to wait for the person to be found. Also, the people who carried the luggage were a bit surly.

The hotel really made our day by upgrading us to a suite as we had asked for a triple room...considering they are a 4 star hotel, wish they had a pick up service from the station as it is a pain locating and dragging suitcases from the bus stand to the hotel.

Overall excellent quality and service in exceptionnal location. Two exceptions: - a low average breakfast quality (certainly the worst coffee of all Italy...and non especially friendly table service) - some smell problems in the room, might come from the canal proximity - the "canal views" proposed in the web site is overpromising: you have to lean out of the window to see a small canal portion...

I found the staff very helpful, but unfortunately, I think the front desk staff has too many responsibilities. They get all calls from the rooms (with problems concerning internet, refrigerators not stocked properly, etc. This means that when a big group is checking in -- they have to deal with all these calls as well, and it's quite annoying. They need to hire a couple of extra people.

This hotel is very well located close to both St Marks Square and Rialto Bridge. We were upgraded to a suite which was lovely but not particularly large (I suspect this may be a feature of many Venice hotel rooms as space generally is at a premium). The room was clean and well furnished with good quality bedding. Earlier comments refer to rooms not refurbished - the hotel confirmed to me that all rooms are now completed. Some work still continues in the public areas. Breakfast was good but with a limited selection. Staff were friendly and helpful but in some cases had limited English (but always better than my Italian;) I would stay here again.

Dissapointed to find there were no eating facilities or even a bar to have a drink. Eventually ended up having pizza for breakfast. Assumed being a 4 star hotel that these facilities would be automatically available.
