I had the superior double occupancy room. It was nice. The hotel was nice. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The only downfall was the "welcoming". The 2 men in the front lobby checking us in were not very nice. We came in late due to our late flight arrival so we felt like a burden checking in. But that is their job, right?! The men felt tired and not happy to see us. I did not reserve my one sister on the reservation because someone in the hotel told me over the phone that I can just reserve and pay for an extra bed when we check in. So these men felt annoyed and it showed with their facial expressions. Therefore, I would highly suggest that you train your front desk staff to be more pleasant and friendlier. We are the customers! And it was our first time in Europe, so it gave us a bad impression of Rome (our first night). Overall, after the few days we were there and the tours were great..we loved Rome. I give kudos to your dining staff, they were nice and excellent but the front desk needs much improvement.

Very comfortable. Very friendly staff. Conveniently located if you want to see the Vaticano or its museums which are all a couple of blocks away. If you want to hang out in the center of Rome it is just 30-minute walk or a 8 euro taxi ride away. There is also metro (Vatican Museums station) but the station is a 15 minute walk away.

We had two rooms with twin beds in each room as I was traveling with three college age children. One room had a balcony that you could look out and see St. Peter's Dome. This is a great quiet location within easy walking distance to the Vatican. The breakfast buffet was excellent and all the areas very clean. It is also convenient for eating out and shopping. Bus service is right around the corner along with a bank. Also they have great air conditioning and water pressure for showers. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was very nice, very close to Vatican. Rooms pretty large. Hotel staff very helpful. At the beginning I was cautious seeing the reviews regarding the staff but they were helpful and prompt. Breakfast variate (didn't like the cookies at all) and good, service very good and fast. I was very unhappy about thermal isolation! It's easy to see that in Italy there is no winter. Unfortunately when we arrived it was really cold and the air conditioning couldn't manage to compensate the wind whispering through the windows. Overall, it was a nice stay. Tip for tourists: take any bus to Plaza Venezia and you can visit all Rome easier! Nice focal point.

The accommodation was as described and very close to the Vatican which was the focus of our visit. The hotel could improve on its satellite television provisions as there was extremely limited access to keep up to date with world news and events if you do not understand Italian. No access to global chanels like CNN, Sky News or BBC. Breakfast was generally good but the very salty bacon could be removed from the menu.

THe real advantage of this hotel is that it's very near to the Basilica di San Pietro and Vatican. The city tour bus stop is also nearby. However the relationship between price and quality is poor. Reserve your voucher to Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel via internet, with that you can skip a 300 meters queue.

While it was wonderful being close to St. Peter's basilica, we were disappointed with the front desk staff (with the exception of one older gentleman who was helpful). The female clerk was rude and acted annoyed at all times. When asking for directions, they typically gave one word answers that were not helpful at all. Moreover, you had to pay for internet connection and it was a terrible connection! The room was spacious (we had a double room), but had a bad smell. We were in Rome for 4 nights, 5 days. One positive was the breakfast buffet was decent, included with the room, and the staff in there were friendly.

Read some mixed reviews for the Starhotels Michael Angelo. We have just spent 3 nights here with our three children(17,15,and11). Could not fault the hotel for service and quality. The rooms were fabulous(1 tripple and 1 double), the food in the restaurant was excellent and all the main areas spacious and spotlessly clean. Location was perfect for the Vatican but also to reach all the main areas on foot or by getting the bus. I would have no problem reccommending this hotel to anyone.

We had a rate of 108 Euro per night here, which was very low so we felt the value was great. Everything was very solid about the hotel, air conditioning was strong, and the free breakfast was very good. I think it is a solid 3.5 star hotel, maybe a larger room/bathroom might swing me to agree that it was 4 stars. Great overall experience.

A decent hotel, in a rather quiet area very close to San Marco. Convenient location as we took the regional train from the airport and got in the Stazione San Marco in about 35 minutes, with a change in Trastevere. Outside the train station which is a 5 min. walk to the hotel there is the hub for buses 64 and 40(express) which lead you through Rome to Termini. The hotel itself is a bit old, however it is clean and decent.

I and my mother stayed at the Hotel Starhotels Michelangelo for 6 days. The location was great as we wanted to be near Vatican. We requested for a nice view of the Vatican but we were placed on the second floor facing the street. Our request thru email was not granted without any explanation at all (like there was no room for 2 with a good view of the Vatican). The hotel though is 5 minutes or so walk to the Vatican depending on your pace. There's a lot of places to eat in the vicinity and the reception had been helpful. Breakfast was okay but we had the same breakfast food everyday! Food was great the one time we had dinner at the hotel restaurant though albeit expensive. It would have been okay despite the price but in the midst of our meal an old man, who was probably the head waiter, approached and told us if it was okay to transfer to another table. They could just have waited for us to finish as it was apparent that we do not intend to linger in the restaurant. Anyways, it was enough for us to lose our appetite and we just hastily finished our dinner and left. For this reason I would not recommend the hotel's restaurant.

With a little effort this could be a really good hotel. The reception desk was overstaffed and they could do with employing more maintenance staff since certain aspects of the room decor were in need of minor refurbishement and even where this had been carried out it had been done badly. For example paint repairs to wall bore little relation to original colour. I do not expect to arrive at a hotel and find the TV remote not working, a standard lamp not working. A grab handle in the shower loose. The restuarant was expensive the food very good but the dining room lacked any ambiance whatsoever. With more attention to this minor annoyances the hotel could be very good.

If you are looking for a decent priced four stars hotel in Vatican you want to check Starhotel Michelangelo. The room prices seem to be reasonable regarding the location - in the immediate vicinity of St Peter's Cathedral. We had a room in the first floor, unfortunately windows facing to the street. As one could expect the traffic noise was irritating so you better select upper floors and/ or rooms that have windows to the inner yard. The interior of the room we stayed in was pretty worn, clean though. Bathroom was clean and shiny but it could have been bit spacier. Minibar and a safety locker was included. A/C ok. The welcoming was not too warm even if it was reasonably polite. Otherwise the service was flawless and good and the porter service very polite and friendly. The breakfast served was really nice and had at minimum everything you would expect to see in a normal continental table. And it was tasty. I would absolutely rate it above the average 4 star European or American level, and this makes a real difference as we remeber this hotel is in Rome. Additionally, as the location was just a few hundred meters from the St Peter's, the overall price per quality rate makes this a very competitive alternative indeed.

This hotel was a good value for the location. It is located right in the Vatican only a 5 minute walk to St. Peter's square. It is in a non-congested area and is fairly quiet compared to other areas in Rome. We had a balcony in our room facing the street and the Basilica was visible from the balcony. The only complaint would be that a few of the walls were quite dirty and marked up, but overall we thought the room was clean otherwise. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The room was spacious enough for 2. The breakfast was probably close to the best we had in all of italy. The train station was only 1 block away for 1 euro all the way to Rome Termini station, which was much cheaper than a taxi!

My stay in Rome was fabulous. I was initially booked into the PETRA hotel with you websight, but when I arrived I found the hotel in a very bad location and the room was 2 star at best. Very disappointed. It was nothing like the wed page and very badly situated. The staff there did help me use the internet to try and book another hotel, which was the Michelangelo star hotel. This was fantastic. Unfortunately the terms and conditions did not allow me to any money back, so I lost £301 sterling, which obviously upset me. I put this down to bad (or clever) advertising from the webpage it was on.

I had a hard time rating this hotel for the following reasons. Bell person, bartender, very helpful and friendly. Front desk always acted like they were busy doing something else rather than waiting on us. We were here with another couple and they felt the same as us. It seemed as though we were putting them out to help us. The room was fine. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast nice. Wasn't crazy about the location, took taxi cabs too much. we chose your hotel because of the location and the fact that you have a restaurant.I asked to reserve a table for a party of 10 of us for dinner on our first night at your hotel. The waiter on duty was extremely rude and said it was not possible. There were only 5 other tables occupied at the time so clearly the restaurant was not busy. We offered to put tables together ourselves only to be told that this was not possible. Two mornings later at breakfast 2 of our friends were still eating their breakfast when my husband and I sat near to them to have a conversation. We were told by the maitre de that the the dining room was not the place to chat but we should go to the lobby is this how you treat your guests? We complained to the reception about not being able to have dinner together in the restaurant because of the arrogant way in which we were treated. they apologised and said it should not have happened. It had been our intention for all 10 of us to eat in the hotel every evening. Instead we found a nice little restaurant nereby where we were made extremely welcome and we ate there every evening. The hotel and staff apart from the restaurant we found to be excellant. There is clearly a problem amongst the resataurant staff from the maitre de downwards. We would return to your hotel if the restaurant policy is altered. I would appreciate a response to my comments.

This was the first time we stayed at this 4-Star hotel. This 4-Star hotel would not be a 1-Star hotel in Las Vegas. The first room they gave us had a large rip in the carpet that was very obvious and hadn't been repaired. We called and demanded another room, which they took care of immediately. Breakfast was included and was very good; dinner on the other hand was extremely overpriced and poorly prepared. The hotel was close to St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican which was good. Two of the tours offered by this hotel picked us up at the hotel, and left us off after the tour SIX BLOCKS AWAY!!!! I definitely would not stay at this hotel again

This is a great European Hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were neat as a pin and the breakfast was wonderful. There were 10 of us travelling together and we all agreed that it was one of the best places we stayed at in Italy.

This hotel had a great location for visiting the Vatican. There was a produce store a few doors down, a gelato parlor around the corner and several places to eat within two blocks. The rooms were very small but quite quaint. The breakfast was great and the dining room very sunny and friendly. It was easy to navigate to all the scenic spots by public bus, and an accommodating shuttle transported us to our cruise destination and back. I'd recommend this one.

Hotel was excellent in all respects - clean, good breakfast, spotless rooms, superb location. Expensive, but very good value for money. Only slight problem was some street noise.

We have stayed at other hotels in Rome and our 3 night stay Michelangelo was perfect. It was by far the best hotel for the money. The rooms, the food, the location and the service were excellent. We will stay here again on our next visit and recommned it to our friends.

Hotel is ideally located for visitors to the Vatican/St.Peters Square less than 5 minutes walking distance away. There were power cuts when we arrived meaning that lifts and the electricity within the room were "off". Power was restored later in the day without toom much "serious" disruption. Reception staff were excellent knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast food, which was included in the room price, was fresh, plentiful and of good quality. Bar prices were expensive but perhaps what I would expect from a 4 star. Room needed redecoration/update. Overall more a 3 star than 4 star. Small Pizzeria "The Goose" 5 mins walk away provided better value for food/drinks in the evening good simple meals with a cosy, friendly atmosphere .

Maybe because the period of time we were there was very busy, the desk staff were quite curt and at times rude, especially one man who worked evenings. The room was nice and clean, but small. I know this is not unusual for rooms in Europe. I would definately stay there again due to the proximity to the Vatican and just ignore the rudeness of certain individuals. Too many fatty type foods at breakfast and the eggs were always cold. We enjoyed the waiter that sings and hums while working.

The only regret that I had was the amount I had to pay for parking. I thought it was out of control. Parking should have been included with the price of the hotel. Was very unhappy.

If you want an American hotel with an Italian flair, this is it. We were very pleased with this hotel. It is a short 5 minute walk from St. Peter's Square. The staff was wonderful. They arranged for an extra bed for our baby at no extra cost. They even set up a car to take us to/from the airport. The breakfast was delicious and the wait staff was great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We only had a very short time to see and do everything in Rome. The hotel helped make this possible - the hotel was in an excellent location for sightseeing. We were very impressed with everything about the hotel - staff, breakfast, rooms. We had a wonderful coulpe of days in Rome and the hotel helped make our stay comfortable. I would certainly reccomend this hotel.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel and would recommend this place to family and friends. The staff was very friendly and made our visit a pleasure. We were meeting our oldest daughter at the hotel who was already in Italy, when a hotel employee(Joseppe)took it upon himself to arrange for proper and safe transportation of my daughter from her location to the hotel!!!Outstanding customer service from a dedicated employee! We Thank You so much for having great employees.

This is a superb venue for a trip to Rome. Very close to the Vatican and within relatively easy walking distance of most of the main sites. Also found taxi's to be very reasonable when required. Hotel interior was very fresh, room service was superb. All in all a good value for money hotel in a pricey city. We asked for a room to the back of the hotel, so no trouble from road noise.

I stayed at the Michelangelo on the 18th October with my Mum and Sister. We had a triple room which was plenty big enough for 3 adults. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the whole day. You could not stay in a better place if the primary purpose of your visit to Rome is to go to the Vatican.

The hotel was clean, the dining adequate, although we used it only for breakfast. The staff was very friendly and took care of all our requests. I thought the rooms were small, but maybe all rooms are small in Europe. The surroundings of the hotel were not the cleanest, but the same as all Rome. All in all, the accomadations were what we expected.

Größe der Räume und des Bades waren o.k. Nähe zur Bushaltestelle (vor Hotel) und zum Vatikan war gut. Preisleistungsverhältnis (180 Euro für Einzelzimmer pro Nacht) ist zu teuer.

We had a wonderful stay in Rome. The hotel room was clean and quite spacious. The beds were extremely comfortable. The only thing is if you have a room at the front of the hotel be prepared for the refuse collection in the early hours of the morning. If you're a light sleeper it's guaranteed to wake you up. The breakfast was a buffet and was plentiful with a wide selction, on one morning we had breakfast delivered to our room and it was only an extra 10 euros which isn't too bad comapred to the prices in hotels in the UK The location of the hotel was fine and although it's out of the way a little it's only a twenty minute walk to Piazza Navona. Everything was within walking distance of the hotel and we only used the No.64 bus to travel to Termini with our luggage. The hotel is ideally situated for the Vatican but get there early (before 10:00) to beat the queues. I'd recommend this hotel to friends and would consider staying here again next time I visit Rome.

Hotel Michelangelo was perfect for our needs and deserves its four stars. I would certainly go back there! The only downside is that it is a little bit far from the center of the city; but really close to the Vatican. We always had to call a taxi or jump on a bus to go somewhere but there were plenty of taxis and the average drive was approx. 10min.

Best feature is proximity to St. Peter's (it really is 250 metres). Otherwise the area is average, but has some local restaurants. Hotel looks poor from outside; but inside is clean and rooms are spacious (for Italy). Rooms have good tv, DSL (& WiFi). Breakfast is poor! Staff are very nice.
