Nice hotel with good location near train and metro station. Rooms on first floor to avoid because extremely noisy! Mobile phone signal very poor inside the hotel. Internet corner very expensive. Internet connexion on the loby for free 30 minutes and for 5,50€ in the room.

Our stay here could scarcely have been improved upon. The reception staff were excellent - one in particular (he knows who he is!) went far beyond the call of duty in suggesting and booking interesting places for us to eat. We found the hotel an ideal base and felt quite safe in the area. Breakfast was a slight let-down but still OK.

What a gem! We were looking for a hotel close to Roma Termini. This is the best option for the price. We were upgraded and had a very large room. Really impressed. Would go back there again.

Good location, very comfortable room and spacious lobby, excelent breakfast. The only minus is the internet connection: free access in the lobby area with password that lasts only for 30 minutes and slow connection.

The staff were very helpful. No milk with tea and coffer in the rooms is a nuisance for UK visitors. Also the supply of tea and coffee is very sparse, but the is a minor point. The hotel is well located and comfotrable

The hotel was very close to Termini Train Station making it convenient. They upgraded our room which was very nice. The only negative was the coffee in the morning. Since Italy is known for its good coffee we were very surprised that it was as bad as it was.

We had a room de luxe, but the room is to small for being an luxure room. The price quality ratio was okay but I had expected a bigger room. For the rest is a perfect hotel with all services and near to the center and railway/metro station

I liked the hotel. its location is near termini station which is excellent as we were taking the train to milano next day. Personnel was welcoming and check-in very fast(5mnts). room is spacious and clean but the breakfast was not very rich. I think they could add boiled eggs and some kinds of cheese, it would be better.

This was our first trip to Rome and using the Venere.com website... The Venere site was simple and easy to use and the hotel was accurately represented. We read many of the reviews of the hotel, most notable the few negative ones and found that there was no foundation for the negative reviews in our visit. The room was smaller than what we would have been accustomed to in the US but we loved it. We would definitely use the Venere site and this hotel again for our next trip.

We stayed at this hotel for a week in Rome to visit the major tourist attractions and to be close to public transportation. It is a short easy walk to the Termini and Metro stop. The breakfast that was included was one of the finest we have ever encountered in Europe - fruit, cereals, eggs, meats, rolls, pasteries, etc. Will stay there again on our next trip to Rome.

This was my first trip to Rome (second for my wife who was there many years ago) and we found Metropole to be located in a very convenient spot. We were close to the Termini and the many sightseeing (hop on/hop off)buses. The complimentary breakfast buffet was wonderful! Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would return tomorrow if I could.

It took us forever to decide on a hotel in Rome and in the end Hotel Metropole was all we hoped it would be. We were even given a free upgrade to a superior room. The room and bathroom were spotless. The bed was huge but a little hard for my liking. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. The staff behind the desk were helpful and efficient. The hotel is well located 5 minutes walk from the Termini. The area is as you would expect from any European city, with its share of homelessness, but nothing offputting at all. All the main sights are within walking distance (in comfy shoes). We were warned that Rome would be expensive, but didn't find that to be the case. I guess it depends where you eat and what you eat. Go for side street trattorias and pizzerias in the evening, and the little cafe-bars during the day. A wonderful few (child-free!!) days in Rome, and if I make it back I'd definitely stay at the Hotel Metropole.

We selected the hotel based on proximity to the railway station and its ratings on this website. The reviews were right. Very nice hotel indeed. Friendly staff. A nice breakfast was included. We took a cab from the station and they charged 10Euro for something you could walk with luggage in 10 min. Look at the map, it really is walking distance. Also remember to stay off the nearestby street restaurants where they charge 10Euro for a single piece of Tiramisu. But all in all, we recommend this hotel and its location.

I traveled with my daughter and we felt very secure. Hotel is very well located, next to restaurants, main streets, attractions and hop-on-off tour bus. People at the desk were very helpful. Love love loved this hotel! It was by far the best hotel (for the $) I stayed during my 3 week stay in Italy. I would compare it to a W Hotel - modern, clean and comfortable. Staff was delightful (can be rare in Italy), loved the hardwood floors in the guest rooms (no mystery carpet that has been there for 20 years). Comfy pillows, down comforters, fluffy towels - our entire experience was just superb! The website said an easy walk from the train station but it's a bit tricky to find from the map, we just paid a cab driver 10 Euro's, he was a little irked that the drive was so short, but the extra tip cheered him up. The area just right outside the train station is just not an area you want to be walking around at night with luggage looking like a lost tourist. However if you are looking for a hip hotel in Rome and don't want to pay a ridiculous amount, this is the place for you.

A short walk from Termini - great location if you're arriving and/or leaving Rome via train. Easy to get to the center of the city - 30 minutes by foot straight down Via Nazionale (with lots of shops along the way) or 10-15 minutes on one of several public bus lines with stops close to the hotel. Staff were very friendly. I mistakenly booked an extra night and informed them after the cancellation cut-off time. Nonetheless, the hotel staff was courteous and canceled my extra night without charging me. Rooms were somewhat small, but clean and well appointed. Bathrooms were nice and large. Individual, in-room control of air conditioning was a bonus. Breakfast was ok but definitely not great. If you book a double and don't specifically request a king-size bed at check-in, you'll likely end up in a room with two twin beds pressed together.

I was worried what that the hotel would be like when I arrived as websites and companies dont always post a true reflection but I was extremely happy to see everything was what I was expecting. Very friendly staff and helpful in assisting us on to how to make the most of our three days there. They gave us lots of information on how to get around Rome, maps, ordering taxi's etc. I am so happy I chose the right place as it was for my partner's 30th and couldnt have hoped for a better weekend. I highly recommend this Hotel and the booking agent Venere! There were no hidden extras and despite people saying the hotel was noisy we had absolute peace and quiet. Very good location and everything within walking distance. Drinks in the hotel are expensive but they have lovely staff, beautiful reception area/lounge to enjoy your drinks in which make it quite cosy. One thing I advise is wear proper walking shoes on your trip as there is loads to see and I was very disappointed with the Piazza Navona, stick to the non commercial traditional Italian restaurants if you are looking for quality food and reasonable prices as we were stung thinking high prices meant quality. I will definitely be using Venere again to book with and the Metropole Hotel as I am coming back to Rome in September for my birthday!

This hotel was fantastic and we would absolutely return to this hotel the next time we're in Rome. They also upgraded our room so we had a huge suite on 2 floors. We're not sure why what happened but thought it might be because our other Rome hotel (we had booked through Venere for another trip) overbooked and sent us to another hotel (Hotel Quirinale, which was pretty good but nothing like this one). Everything inside the hotel is modern and clean. Breakfast is convenient with a large assortment in a large dining room.

The hotel rooms were better than expected. They were clean and spacious including the bathroom, which in many hotels we have stayed in have been petite. The number of lifts and their speed were sufficient for the number of guests and the wait for a lift was rarely more than a few seconds. The breakfast facilities were good and on the one day when the breakfast area became overcrowded, the staff opened the restaurant also to make more tables available. The breakfast was more substatial than the typical cereal and pastry breakfast but also included fresh hot items. The staff were always helpful and all, including the bar staff, spoke english. Most continental hotels we have stayed in do not have in room coffee/tea making facilities. The Metropole had this available, with all items used replenished the next day. Sadly no milk. Although not one of the cheapest hotels in the area, we would recommend the hotel. The only downside and this is being picky in the extreme was that the view from the bedroom window overlooked the fire escape. But as we were out of the room for most of the day this is a view we rarely saw. Also the hotel is no more than 5 minutes from the metro and a multitude of tour buses. However as most of tourist Rome is in walking distance from the hotel, we only used the metro to go to the vatican.

The Metropole is very well located 3-4 blocks from the Termini train station (easy walk) and is ideal if you are travelling by train. Although not close to the sites/shopping getting around by metro, using a metro day pass (3Euro)is very easy and quick. The metro is located near the train station. The various tour companies offering day trips/tours are located within walking distance, but they also do pick ups at the hotel. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and included scrambled eggs and the service excellent by all staff EXCEPT the front desk staff. The front desk staff was the least polite, hospitalble, approachable or helpful we have ever encountered on business or leisure travel. The exception would be for the very helpful and kind young man who checked us out at 5am on Sept 23, 2007.

The hotel is excellent considering the price I paid for. Room was immaculately clean, beautiful and excessively equipped with amenities. We wanted a hotel that was close to the Railway and bus station in Rome, the Starhotel is certainly that be no more than a 5 minute walk. We stayed in Rome for 3 nights which gave us plenty of time to visit the major sights with our 8 year old daughter. The Hotel was excellent, breakfasts were great and it was right in the centre of everything. The room was rather hot, even with the heating off and windows open. My only complaint was the Internet down stairs was very overpriced and the staff were not very helpful when asked to help out with same. It was easier to go to the Internet Cafe down the street.

Hotel suitable for anyone on a budget but seeking to stay in a quality hotel. Hotel is a few minutes away from Termini which is the main station for trains and buses (including those to and from airport). This is particularly useful for any first time visitors to Rome and what helped us in deciding to book this hotel. The hotel is also situated close to a tourline operators - 2 minute walk which is useful for those seeking to take advantage of organised tours. There are hotels closer to some of the main attractions but public transport system is so good here that being located to the Termini is ideal to get you to all the attractions. Would recommend this hotel, newly refurbished & modern, suitable for all clients & lifts available. Breakfast was excellent offering a full range from continental breakfast to fully cooked breakfast. Hotel staff were excellent and very helpful. Public areas within the hotel spacious, bar was opened in the evening also. Would recommend the hotel and would opt to stay there again.

Very good and modern hotel (easily a 4 star by Australian standards) within easy walking distance of Termini (main rail station) and a lot of the sites. We walked to all main sites from hotel without too much effort, but subway is close by if walking is a problem. Great breakfast for a Rome hotel, and friendly and helpful staff. Very good location , 5 min walking to Termini Railway station, 15-20 min to piazza Venezia! Try to avoid rooms on the inner ring, as they are a bit noisy due to the hotel air con unit. I would certainly go back to this hotel again on my next visit to Rome. We were upgraded to a De luxe room, which was modern, clean and very well decorated. A memory foam mattress on the huge bed and you could even choose from three types of pillow! The bathroom was perfect, everything spotlessley clean, hairdryer, all the usual freebie soaps etc and even a TV in the bathroom! Breakfast was great, loads to choose from and the coffee was very good. The location is great, close enough to the station so that you're not walking halfway accross Rome with your suitcases. Nice hotel in a great location. Close to all the sights and some great restraunts and bars. Staff were very helpful and curteous. The bar is the worst part as its in the communal area and so isnt very intimate. The breakfast was adequate but certainly not outstanding. I'd stay there again when in Rome, as the price reflected the quality. The lifts are being re-furbished so prepare for a wait or take the stairs !

There was stuff in the room though it was cleaned every day. I have not had the impression to be in 4-star-hotel as far as the welcoming is concerned. Employees were not very friendly (they were rather stressed).

Fantastic value for money for a European hotel. Ask for renovated rooms on the first and second floor.

Breakfast is not very special, but location is super and rooms are top quality. Would come back immediately - nothing better was available at that price.

I can't help but believe that this place was a total rip-off. For the most part hotels in Rome seem to be WAY overpriced and I don't know what the other hotel rooms in the area would have been like but I'm pretty much appauled at the quality of our room for the price we paid. The wall paper was peeling off the walls!! I have stayed in some American Motel chains that had better looking rooms than the one we paid 165 euros for. The other thing that completely irritated me was that the pictures on the website are of all the new, renovated rooms which are called the "delux" rooms and are 30 euros more. I think you could pay 10 Euros more and stay at a much nicer hotel in the area. The only good thing about this hotel was the breakfast and the location (if you want to be close to the train station).

The rooms shown on the photographs on the website were totally different from the ones we were provided with. I booked a double room but once we got to the hotel we were told that we should have booked a Double Superior room to get the one shown in the photograph. we did not have the option of bokking a double superior room on the website. It was totally misleading & we were disappointed in Venere & the Hotel for the misrepresenation. On the positive side, the room was clean, the bathroom was clean & spacious and the breakfast was great. The hotel staff was also helpful in booking tours and taxis.

Hotel room was great. Only 10 minute walk to the train station, public bus stop, and metro. Safe location for late night/early morning walk back to hotel. Would stay there again.

I found this Hotel to be great value. Given that the star syatem in Italy only reflects the amenities offered I must say that the service also matched the stars, although the rooms where not as shown in the photographs, the room you get for the price paid is OK and still reflects good value. Clean linen and bathroom goodies daily and an excellent Breakfast more than made up for the room. I had only one minor problem, the Hotel was entirely non-smoking and I don`t recall this being shown on the hotel details. So overall at the price paid I would definately return to the same Hotel again and would be happy to recommend it to anybody else.

The best part of our stay in tourist-filled Rome. Rooms were contemporary quality design, air conditioned and clean; staff helpful. Car safely put in their underground garage. Will recommend to friends and family needing accomodations near trains.

Conveniently located with walking distance of many good restaurants and the main city centre attractions. The key system in the hotel was very temperamental meaning endless journeys between our room on the 8th floor and reception to get the keycard reprogrammed or to be let into the room by a member of staff. The lifts were also out of action one day, having spent the day walking around Rome the last thing we wanted was to climb 8 floors of stairs. Apart from that the hotel was much as expected and represented reasonable value for money. The staff were helpful and polite.

If you're planning a long stay, you probably want a nicer place. We stayed for one night and it was well located 5 min walk from the station and it served us well, better than basic, but not special. The reception was ok, but they had a computer problem and we had to hang around before booking in. We were "upgraded" to one of the new rooms which was very nice and clean. Only some of rooms have been refurbished and you do risk not getting one - we asked specifically for a refurbished room in the booking request and suggest you do the same.

We checked in the first 3 nights at the hotel when we arrived in Rome. It was a very pleasant stay. The room was modern, bright and clean. We have also decided to book our last night with the same hotel before leaving Italy and we got upgraded to junior suite. I believed this is a way of rewarding customer on their return visit.

We stayed for 7 nights at the Starhotels Metropole, and it was outstanding. The bathroom was excellent, the bed was perfect, the airconditioning cooled the room very nicely, and there was plenty of space. The breakfast was more than we really needed. The front desk provided us an excellent recommendation for a meal in the local area. An easy walk to the Termini or Republica metro stations, the location was fine for visiting all the sights in Rome. Just don't expect a charming setting for the hotel. There's nothing special about the hotel's immediate surroundings. Overall a superb experience.

Very friendly staff, the price was fantastic in relation to the high standard of accomodation. The rooms are of an excellent standard and are clean, friendly and honest maids, (we didn't realsie but one of us must have dropped 20 euros in our room and the maid left it on the bed where we could easily find it when we got in). The hotel is located centrally, only a couple of minutes walk to the main metro terminal giving access to all lines. Easy access to nightlife, nice restaurants around the hotel. Breakfast is the usual continental style. Staff were helpful and speak english very well. Overall a very enjoyable stay with no hidden extras. I would definately stay at the metropole again.

Nice 4 star hotel, very near the station and metro, so all the main tourist sites are easily accessible. Hotel was very busy, not many staff on reception desk so a few minutes to wait at times.

Hotel is better than it appears on this site as some of the photos are out of date. Hotel has been refurbished and rooms are excellent. Location is ideal as it is only few minutes from the Terminal and within walking distance of main attractions, restaurants, bars and shops. Chose it for the location and from feedback on tripadvisor website. Very good choice and would recommend it.

El servicio en recepción es excelente. Las habitaciones amplias y con todos los servicios. En nuextro caso el jacuzzi no funcionaba, pero realmente no era significativo. El desayuno variado y abundante. Destacmos especialmente la amabilidad del personal.

This was a VERY nice hotel - one of the nicest we've stayed in. It is just about a 5 min walk to Termini station (central station in Rome). Pros: They served a GREAT breakfast (eggs, cereal, many choices of bread and fruit)!! The staff was pretty competent and helpful. It was pretty cool that we even got robes and flip-flops also. There was also a turn-down service that was nice. And Cable TV - English-speaking channels included BBC, CNN, AND MTV! Cons: A bit pricey but worth the splurge. The location isn't as central to everything, but it ended up working for us since we were staying there the last few nights and had already seen most of the sights previously.

Excellent location, since it is 5-10 minutes walk from Roma Termini(train and subway station-which also has an express train to Fuimicino Airport. Almost same price of Hotel Diana, which is in front of it and also ****. But Hotel Metropole, has better facilities, rooms are bigger and the personnel is more friendly. We had a handicapped room, which will be better with a shower, because bathtub height,in not suitable for people with lower extremities motion limitation. I would be nice if they have available soymilk (so common nowadays) for those people with lactose intolerance. Our room has all the ammenities and facilities of a modern hotel, which make it also excellent for business travelers.
