My husband and I stayed at this hotel for only one night, but for our needs it was perfect. We were flying into Rome early on a Saturday and then leaving on a cruise the next day. This hotel was situated not far from City center and seemed to have easy access from airport to pier. Rooms, staff and grounds were lovely. Would stay here again.

A very good hotel to stay. If you are looking for an hotel in surroundigns, is necessary to catch a bus or a taxi. You need 25 minutes by car to St Peters Square (Vatican). In the other hand, it's very quiet and the breakfast is GORGEOUS.

we had a great experience. We got the room at a discount but I wouldn't mind paying full price~ Breakfast was great! The directions need to be clear because we struggled to find the hotel using public transport. the bus 892 was very hard to find! The shuttle service is great though!

Everything was more then perfect! Hotel is very nice, even though is not in the city center. But there is a shuttle service which goes from the hotel to the center every hour. The only problem is that in the morning and in the evening buss is full! Rooms are quite big and clean. Aurelia, part of the city where hotel is settled is very quite and very green! Breakfast was fabulous! I can not remember that we had a better breakfast anywhere. Price is more then good for this hotel. I would recommend this hotel to everyone and I would like to go back again!

The shuttle service to the Metro is about 30 min drive,a bit far from Rome center. The room is big though we had problems with the balcony door lock so that we had to wait a while for the maintenance guy before we could head to Rome. Nice bathroom, spacious .

It is not that easy to access to the center of Rome but it's OK because of frequent suttles to the city center. Rest of elements of this Hotel were quite OK.

The hotel is modern and the facilities (especially the plumbing) is far superior to the average in Rome. There is a handy shuttle to the Vatican and the center of Rome, but expect crowds and a battle for a seat. This is the closest thing to a US style hotel I experienced in Italy. Not much on local ambience, but superior in the quality of rooms and amenities.

IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET THERE FROM CIAMPINO AIRPORT, BUS, SUBWAY AND MORE BUSES... WE HAD NOT BEEN TOLD IN CORRESPONDANCE THAT THERE WAS A COURTESY BUS AT CERTAIN HOURS FROM CLOSE TO ST PETERS BASILICA, IF WE HAD KNOWN THIS OUR STAY WOULD HAVE BEEN THAT LITTLE BIT MORE ENJOYABLE.... IT IS QUITE A DISTANCE FROM THE TOURIST AREAS, AT LEAST 30 MINUTES BY BUS, IT IS VERY SECLUDED WHICH WOULD SUIT PEOPLE WHO WANT TO AVOID THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE OF A LARGE CITY... THE HOTEL ITSELF WAS FIRST CLASS, THE STAFF EXCELLENT ESPECIALLY ANTONIO AND EMMANUALE ON FRONT DESK. ROOM SERVICE IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND HERE IN IRELAND THERE IS MORE OF A CHOICE THAN ON A ROOM SERVICE MENU IN ROME.......WE REALLY ENJOYED THE COMFORT OF THE HOTEL AND THE PEACEFULNESS, THE COURTESY COACH WAS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FUN TIME AND A WEARY WORN OUT TIME..... A SWIMMING POOL INSIDE WOULD HAVE MADE THE WHOLE VISIT PERFECT AND ALTHOUGH WE WENT IN NOVEMBER IT WAS STILL WARM ENOUGH THAT WE WOULD HAVE USED THE OUTSIDE POOL IF IT HAD BEEN OPEN. ALL IN ALL AND EXCELLENT PLACE TO STAY IF U WANT PEACE AND QUIET AND A LITTLE LUXURY.

The staff at Hotel Sol Melia were helpful, but not as warm as other hotels we stayed in Italy. This was our final night in Italy and it was pretty great to stay in a quality hotel. This definitely outweighed the warm fuzzies. The breakfasts were a little pricey (5 euro for a glass of OJ or tang) and given that there is nothing close by, one had really no other choice. We were looking for a hotel close to the airport and this seemed reasonable, claiming to be within ten minutes from the airport. It was not, even without traffic. It was approximatley a twenty-five minute taxi ride, which would have been longer had our driver not driven down a one-way street. This hotel was also about a 20 minute taxi ride to the Vatican City. Had the weather been cooperative, the hotel pool would have been great to use. it was big and inviting.

I was under the impression that this hotel was 10 minutes from the Fiumicino Airport, as indicated on the website. We took the train to Fiumicino, thinking the hotel would be easily accessible. The hotel clerk informed us there was no shuttle from the airport and the nearest shuttle was close to the Roma Termini train station, where we had just arrived from. The only way to get to the hotel would be a 20 minute expensive cab ride. We were very upset at this and felt that we were mislead and given the wrong information on the website. I will now consider other travel websites because of this matter. It's a beautiful hotel, but we were very upset at the lack of correct information on the website.

The only thing that we had a problem was about the transport between the hotel and the centre of Rome. The hotel is situated far away from the centre and they have a bus service. The bus go out 4 times a day more o less, but the BIG PROBLEM is this bus can't face all hotel clients, and then somebody can't to part to the city centre. And if you take a taxi you have to pay the hight price that it cost, and the hotel don't want to pay it.IT WAS TERRIBLE THE BIG KUEUE THAT EVERY DAY WE HAD TO DO TO GO UP THE BUS!!!!!!!!!!

We returned to Rome after our honeymoon there 30 years ago. I requested that champagne be awaiting us in our room when we arrived. It was and it was accompanied by wonderful hors d'ouevres. The room was very spacious, spotless, well appointed and very comfortable. Exactly what you would expect for a 4* hotel. All of the staff were very polite and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Before we travelled, I had requested times for the complementary bus from Piazza Barberini and was e:mailed the complete timetable for both pick-up points from the city. The hotel was ideally situated on the outskirts of Rome and the hotel bus was very prompt. No standing - so get there early to secure your seat when leaving the hotel in the morning. The restaurant was excellent and we were well looked after each time we dined there. It was probably more expensive than in Rome itself but we could retire when we wanted. We bought a week's ticket for the Metro -16 Euros and found the Metro very easy to use. There are only 2 lines - A +B so it gets very busy at lunchtimes and later in the rush hour. Beware of 'Borsaiolo' pick-pockets. It was a lunchtime when we were on the Metro and it became very packed. My handbag was slit down the side by a very sharp knife!! Fortunately the offender wasn't successful in relieving me of anything. Heed the warnings of pickpockets at the Metro stations and don't use a handbag if you travel at busy times. Be aware and don't have wallets in back trouser pockets either- the offender moved on to a man and tried to take his wallet. Quite a fracas ensued. I bought an Italian phrase book and a dictionary, which I found very helpful - I found the Italians very friendly and kind if I tried to speak their language,if only to greet, request and thank, though people involved in the usual tourist establishments spoke very good English. We will use this hotel again when we return to Rome.

hotel was without hot water for two days, only refunded 20 % off one night-price. hotel is too far outside city-centre, in the (be it quiet) middle of nowhere, free hotel shuttlebus takes about an hour tot get to city centre.

A large modern business type hotel. Big American style rooms. In the outskirts near the ring road, but shuttle bus very useful and reliable. An international style hotel.

Good hotel aimed more at business users than leisure and quite a long way from the airport - a taxi to ciampino airport costs 45-50 euros. Located well out of the city centre, shuttle bus was very good but only 4-5 per day and does not wait in town very long to pick up passengers! Overall clean, modern well decorated and very helpful staff.

The hotel was as advertised. I have read most of the posted reviews and I would stress the convenience of the coach service to Vatican City and the center of Rome. It was available early and late, and provided an additional tour of the city. The hotel is actually not that far from the city center. When we departed we put our luggage on the coach for downtown and only had to make a simple taxi connection to Termini Station for a trip to Florence. The hotel bar is a bit expensive, but what do you expect. Drink your red wine downtown.

We chose this hotel for its non central location as we were driving to Rome with our two children and this appeared more suited to our needs. Overall no regrets and the service provided was very good. The staff was always friendly and helpful and one or two problems we had were quickly sorted. On the plus side the courtesy bus was a real bonus and the breakfast buffet is excellent but beware that breakfast is not included in the price when booked over the internet .. on the minus side, we found evening dinner at the hotel's restaurant laughably disappointing as it's this nouveau cuisine style nonsense and we had two hungry kids who just wanted a couple of pasta dishes, considering the hotel is pretty isolated there weren't any simple alternatives. Then there was the swimming pool and garden area which is out of bounds after 7pm which is pretty daft, because when you've spent a whole day sightseeing you look forward to perhaps relaxing by the pool in the evening rather than being confined to your rooms, of which very few have balconies.

Quite far out from the City Centre so the courtesy bus is fantastic, however it did get full at peak periods so we had to use a taxi then. Dinner in the restaurant was wonderful. Pool area was pleasant and quiet. Would definately use this hotel again.

One day the "shuttle bus" was a different bus than previously and did not indicate it was from the hotel, although several persons were waiting at the alloted place. Food in restaurant was very good, but service was always understaffed. Also, even though we chose the hotel because it was relatively near the airport for our departure, a car booked through the hotel to airport cost E40.

Very good service, nice rooms. Bus into town was useful. Staff even booked Eurotrain tickets for us and had them delivered to hotel. Use the hotel taxi if you can. Dissapointed that the pool bar closed and we were not able to sit outside and have a snack on the warm evenings.

Lovely Hotel with helpful polite staff and a happy atmosphere.Food prices in restuarants maybe a bit high if hotel is looking to compete with resturants in Rome. Venere's booking service was very poor. I would definitely use the hotel again but I would book direct rather than use Venere

By far the best hotel we stayed while in Italy, the hotel was beautiful both the room and facilities were second to none ! I would strongly recommend this hotel. However €5 for a can of beer in the poolside bar is a little expensive, the courtsey bus could run later in the night. Go and enjoy

Very nice hotel on the very outskirts of Rome. Although the hotel is quite far out of the way from the city, the hotel run a very good shuttle bus service, but be warned, if the bus gets full and you are not on it then you are left stranded in the city and in the hands of a Roman taxi driver. (an experience if ever there was one, nuts!!!!) Very friendly staff although on a few occasions service when ordering food was poor from both the hotel restaurant and the pool bar. Overall a very enjoyable stay in an amazing city which was spoiled ever so slightly by the previous points.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found everything to be excellent and the people very friendly and willing to help. The location especially...right outside the Duomo couldn't have been better. The only negative was the noise level in the rooms but it was a tradeoff since we had a beautiful view of the Duomo from our window. I would definitely return on my next visit.

Lovely hotel. Food was very good, best food we had in Italy but the portion sizes are not very big for the (slightly high) price. Pool area was really nice, although a bit annoying that it was only open from 10 'til 8. The jogging track/gym was closed due to 'the snake'! Staff friendly and rooms were comfortable, clean and spacious. After a busy day in Rome it was a treat to go back to the hotel (which, being a bit further out, was nice and peaceful) and be able to relax by the pool or have a drink and something to eat out on the verandah by the restaurant.

+ The Hotel was cheap in comparison to the feel of luxuary of the room. + There is a safe deposit box in the room + The service and the staff was very good, you felt really welcome. + There is a bus to the centre for free + Big bathroom that was very nice + Outdoor pool, wonderful a hot summer day + Great breakfast (not included in prize) - The bed was hard - It's in the middle of nowhere.. - The bus leaves every hour or so, not too often.. - The windows weren't clean - The minibar was really expensive and the breakfast too we spent two nights here, using the bus to get to the centre every day. it was annoying to have to catch the bus home every night, you didn't feel free.. otherwise the standard of the hotel was very nice. if you don't mind having to think about when the next bus goes in to town or home from the centre, then this hotel is wonderful.

United Kingdom, Jul 2004
Nice hotel. Courtesy bus is very handy, as long as you can fit on (to be fair there was only one occassion in 10, where there was too many people -- there is no back up though, other than paying for a taxi yourself to get into the city [in theory you could also miss out on the return trip, which if you choose to get the last coach at 11.30pm then you could be a bit stuck]). The coach journey is 30mins and there is a coach, roughly every hour and a half. We only used the hotel as a base, we didn't eat nor drink there, or even use the pool. The hotel was very clean though, and the air conditioning worked like a dream. If you want to sleep some where in comfort and are prepared to put up with the travel in and out of the city, then this is a sound option. Ciao.

If you are going to Rome and you have Kids this is th eway to go. They have a free shuttle in and out of the city. A nice pool to sit by and cool off. The Hotel is brand new and has some interesting energy saving features. Lights turn on when you enter the hallway and turn off after you leave. The breakfast was a big spread and many options. I would go back again.

We enjoyed our stay at Sol Melia Aurelia. The service was excellent. It is quite far outside Rome, very convenient to the Airport. However there is a complimentary bus into Rome from the hotel every hour or half hour (can't remember) and it also collects you from centre of Rome and brings you back to hotel. beautiful hotel, food excellent in fact the nicest we had in Italy. If we had any fault it would be the directions the map on the website was very poor and we ended up driving around for 1 hour looking for the hotel. Quite frustrating when you are a tourist and do not know where you are going.

Very good hardware (rooms and cleanliness), poor software (employees). Surrounding was bad (probably at this time of year): Jogging park was closed (cause of snakes!?) / Gym was closed / Swimming pool was closed. Takes 10 Minutes to the bus stop, but a free shuttle bus takes you to vatican and rome center multiple times a day.

We had a wonderful stay. All the staff went out of their way to be accommodating. The bus service to Piazza Barbarini was excellent. The times were convenient. The bus was comfortable. We even dozed off as we travelled home after a full day of walking and seeing Rome. The staff was friendly & helpful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Getting to the hotel was a little tricky (we drove) since it was located on the outskirts of Rome. We were glad that there was a shuttle bus that drops & picks you up near the Vatican or central Rome (short walk to the Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna, etc.) because driving in Rome is something else! Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting Rome.

Even though this hotel was on the outskirts of Rome, access to the center of the city was effortless with the free shuttle bus because the drop-off and pick-up times were convenient. Summary: A good hotel located too far away from the sites in Rome. Pros: Best breakfast buffet of all 5 hotels we stayed at during our trip to Italy. Very good restaurant (I recommend the rib-eye steak). Nice clean/new/large rooms and bathrooms. Shuttle bus service to Rome ran on time and the bus was very comfortable. Cons: 30 to 45 min (15 km) bus ride into Rome and the bus schedule does restrict your time in Rome. Public transit would take about 1.5 hours or so depending on the time of day. The primary purpose of this hotel is to serve as a conference center. We chose this hotel because it had a nice looking pool but on the day we got there the pool was closed for the season. Jogging track and fitness center are off site about 1 to 2 km away (We never made it there). The shopping arcade is just 3 or 4 stores on the main floor. There are no other shopping or restaurant options within walking distance of this hotel!

Certainly a way to stay in Rome. Not exactly in the centre, but the shuttle bus service is excellent. Staying in the centre would make you money go less far, I guess. I don't know if it was necessary to leave the car in the guarded garage - costs a bundle.
