great location, great breakfast, employees very nice at breakfast and friendly. we both were very happy to stay at this hotel, not so elegant but clean, quit, close to everything. thank you venere an thank tryp rex, we will stay here again.

A typical downtown hotel, very close to all important places in Madrid. Price is very low compared to other (same level) hotels in this area. No elevator from street to the downstairs reception. Only two small and slow elevators to the rooms. Breakfast is much more than usually can be expected in Spain.

Due notazioni: - non c'è insonorizzazione e, se hai un sonno leggero, voci e bagni dei vicini si sentono - non è corretto, a mio parere, far pagare lo stesso prezzo alle camere interne, come la nostra, affacciata su un cortiletto buio, e quelle esterne, molto luminose e affacciate sulla Gran Via

Hotel Tryp is old, roomy hotel, in the middle of activity in Madrid. The furnishings were old but reliable. The breakfast was ok. The location is near shops, restaurants, museums and metro. My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this hotel.

Considering the prices of hotels in Madrid this is very good value for money. And the location itself gives a lot of comfort, as it is smack in the centre and quite close to all the landmarks, even on foot. I would definitely recommend Tryp Rex to anyone.

The breakfast room did not open quite when announced and we needed to wait a while for tea, being in a hurry for the airport

This hotel is right at the heart of Gran Via in the center of Madrid with easy access to public tranportation. The hotel it self is overall good. The only complain is they should build a better elevator system that can accomodate more than 3-4 people at a time, which often times causing queue lines of people who wanted to return to their rooms. Would consider returning if the price is reasonable.

Bad points: 1) our room had a view over the liftshaft and no natural light to speak of 2) the bathroom was a very odd shape, with little light near the bath 3) the room seemed to be a bit smaller than others I've stayed in in similarly priced hotels 4) air-conditioning seemed to be faulty. Good points: 1) excellent location 2) clean 3) fairly quiet. Overall, I think the room was fair value for money, but wouldn't recommend it to those looking for a bit more than the bare minimum in a hotel.
