Location: 10 out of 10. It's close to everything - Kölner Dom, train station, shopping area, Altstadt (historical city center with funny medieval German houses), river. At the same time it's in a quiet street on the backyard of the cathedral and the Römisch-Germanisches Museum (it should be added here that a subway station excavation is in progress right in front of the hotel doors but that never bothered us - and we were putting kid to bed in the daytime). On the other hand, the hotel probably looks a bit "business-y" which may be a put off for those who are on a honeymoon or something.

This hotel is located walking distance to the major sights and has an underground parking garage. There was construction in front of the building at the time we visited which made access difficult. We are a family of four and have difficulty finding "family rooms". This "family room" was VERY small. Infact I would consider this room VERY small for a double bed. Eventhough it was clean and nicely decorated I expected much more from the Sofitel chain.
