Hotel Victory - Stockholm

My third stay. People interested i history and ships naturally will like it. For my wife the stay was in connection with theater work.

I did not appreciate being installed up under the roof with only a tiny window facing the sky. Gave me (first night only) a vague feeling of claustrophoby. Have stayed at Victory before and shared a double room with a friend, and that room was gorgeous. Now visiting with my brother, we had two Captain's Single rooms. As I understand, there are single rooms at 2. and 3. floor with ordinary windows etc., and I would have preferred two of those. When this is said, everything else was quite perfect, and we will definitely come again, but then we shall see to it that we are installed in 3rd or 4th floor, with windows to look out from. The hotel is very comfortable and full of character. It's very convenient for the shops, restaurants and sights of Gamla Stan. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the welcome tray with port and chocolate. We would certainly stay here again.

Returned after roughly three years to a property, which I had found extraordinary! The hotel is still outstanding (reportedly voted best Swedish hotel by Swedish Journalists in 2009), especially the nautical atmosphere with the exhibits displayed everywhere. The location is perfect, in the middle of Gamla Stan, the street itself quiet but only a few meters away from the action, literally everything reachable by foot. I would have given full marks, had I not had a comparison to an even better performance. Tiny details (loose mount in the shower, lesser selection of breakfast, missing plate at the door, no chocolate/port in the room for welcoming anymore...) made a slight difference. Irrespective this marginalia the hotel is a remarkable and rare gem in a world of uniform hotel-chains and definitely worth a visit!

Wonderful, historic hotel in the middle of old town. Can walk everywhere...wish the breakfast was included in price...delightful but pricey. Very homey atmosphere, designed like an old ship with plenty of antiques. Stockholm was our favorite city in our month journey in Europe. Staff was plentiful and helpful..

2 days are enough for a general approach, the airport is 100 km from town but we were greeated by the receptionist at 1 a.m. with a glass of champagne

I would have expected much more from a hotel of this price category. I really suggest to stay way from the junior suites... The breakfast buffet was really disappointing.

Good news: nice ancient hotel perfectly located in the old town; excellent breakfast but not included in the price; good cleanliness; very quiet and romantic atmosphere. Bad news: in my opinion it is not a 5 stars hotel, consider it as a 4 stars when you compare prices; my standard room (and bathroom) was very small, just good for one person; some pieces of furnitures in the room were nice but most were just old and not well kept; wall painting in the room needed upkeping; the view from the window was on a stair/terrace just outside the window used as a deposit.
