Inn Villa di Monte Solare - Colle San Paolo, Panicale

From our feedback on booking to our welcome at Monte Solare we were always made to feel that this was a very personal booking. The accommodation in the Villa itself was top drawer, we dined at the hotel restaurant each night and the food and wine were both excellent with a good selection of wines from Umbria and other regions. We used the pool each afternoon on our return from travels in the area and the views were just magnificent, even though the water was a tad chilly (not heated). We were lucky to enjoy what was an Indian Summer for this part of Italy. Staff regulalrly visited the pool area such that we could request orders. We were able to take breakfast on the front courtyard of the villa during the beautiful mornings with no problems for staff to accommodate us. We have stayed at many boutique country-house hotels around the world and Monte Solare ranks extremely highly in the accommodation, services and surrounds it offers whilst ensuring this is all done in a very low-key and friendly manner, with no ostentation.

Wir verbrachten eine exelente Woche bei meist gutem und warmem Wetter in einer wunderbaren Umgebung. Inbezug auf Wanderungen und Ausflügen hat uns das Personal kompetent und zuvorkommend beraten. Und am Abend das Essen: einfach köstlich und sehr variantenreich und eben typisch italienisch mit einem guten Weinangebot, wenn auch etwas teuer im Preis. Den Assisi können wir als exelenten Wein besonders empfehlen. Aber auch die Stadt Assisi muss unbedingt besucht werden. Great location for chilling out and for touring Umbria. It rates as one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The host and his wife were very welcoming and attentive - they do presentations on unusual places to visit in Umbria and run regular classical music concerts. The food was fantastic with the menu of the day being readily adapted for vegetarians.

A lovely hotel in peaceful surroundings. At night one could not hear any "man-made" noises. A wonderful place to "chill out". The staff are very helpful and friendly - a credit to the owners.

Is a real hide-away in the middle of nowhere. Very good for unwinding. We stayed a week which was just right (for us). Any longer and it would have been a drag.
