Hotel is definitely overrated. Bed was uncomfortable and noisy. TV set wasn't working and wasn't repaired during our stay, despite staff knowing about the problem. Will certainly look for another hotel next time in Madrid.

Hotel well located and room pretty well equipped. Furnishings and bathroom in particular a little tired and weathered, not really up to 5 star standards. Hotel reception is quite small and lacks the usual wow factor of other 5 stars.

This is not a 5 star hotel. There are no facilities that you would expect to have in a 5 star hotel (fitness centre, restaurant choice, bar choice, relax area). The rooms are very modern style and clean. Lack of english channels on tv. Internet is very expensive to use and the work desk is very small. The location of the hotel is excellent. It is in the centre of the city.

My ratings will probably appear to be unfair as coming from Malaysia where hotels in similar categories are far superior in most ways....and cheaper too...Villa Real is good by the general European standards. The most evident shortcoming in the hotel is the smallness of the room and its generally dated feel. The hotel elegance is fine though. Maybe it's time (as a start) that (boxy)TV sets in the rooms are changed to the more attractive flat TV types commonly found in the Far East hotels to minimise the dated feel of the rooms.

Frequently defined as a balcony over Retiro Park, the Villa Real offers breathtaking views from all its rooms.The hotel comes with 115 sound-insulated accommodations, each with its own lounge and ensuite marble bathroom with towels, toiletries, hairdryer, bath salts, bathrobe and slippers. Each split-level guestroom features wooden flooring and root mahogany furniture. Standard amenities include air conditioning and heating, satellite TV, direct dial telephone, fax and modem connection, electronic safe, ADSL and wireless Internet access, mini bar and desk.

By public transportationThe nearest underground stations are Sol, Sevilla and Banco de España, on the L2 red line.
By airplane
From the Madrid-Barajas airport: arriving from the terminal number 4, take the free shuttle bus to the terminals 1, 2 or 3 and then the L8 pink line towards Nuevos Ministerios and step off at Colombia stop. Once there, switch to L9 line towards Arganda del Rey and get off at Príncipe de Vergara. Then take the L2 line towards Cuatro Caminos and step off at Sevilla.
From the terminals 1, 2 and 3 of the Madrid-Barajas international airport, take the L8 underground line and follow the aforementioned indications.
