The hotel itself is rather dirty; furniture is very old. But the price is perfect. And the hotel is placed very close to the city center. The map provided with the web was incorrect but we managed to find a new one at the bus station. I would recommend this hotel for one-two days for people who will just sleep there.

Hotel Place des Arts is more of a 50's apartment building than a big hotel: very charming, with high ceilings and bizarre pink and lavender walls. Pros: +Can't beat the price. +Kitchenette has all the basic necessities. +Within walking distance to the metro, shopping, the Underground, Chinatown, and Notre-Dame cathedral. Also close to grocery stores and currency exchanges. Great surroundings. A couple minor inconveniences to be aware of: -Be aware there's no elevator, and no phone in the room. -There is parking for hotel customers, but it's very cramped. -There is wireless internet, but with an extremely slow connection. -Sirens go by on Rue Sherbrooke at least once an hour, and the building isn't exactly soundproof. Don't let these minuses fool you -- overall I'm very pleased with my stay! I would stay here again.

This is a very unique euro-style hotel. it's more of a hostel than an franchised place. Great for a young couple or single who does not want to spend a lot but wants to be right in the middle of the action. The hostess was very friendly and helpful.

Cheap hotel directly in the middle of downtown; with internet access, but not every room has a sink and a toilet; subway only two minutes by foot; for a few days it is ok, but i would not recommend to stay a week or longer; no breakfast; employee is very nice

Located around the corner from Place d'Arms and Complex Desjardins, this little hotel was a fantastic choice for experiencing the Montreal International Jazz Festival. If your main goal is to be out and about in Montreal and you just want a place to park your car, drop your bags and sleep, this is a great choice. This hotel is older but very clean; the staff/owner is very friendly and accomodating and it is very close the the Place d'Arms metro stop. I would recommend it to young couples or singles. There is no elevator, only stairs (lots of them!) so it may not be the best for senior/elderly people or those families with young children.

By car
From Ontario, take highway no. 401, follow signs to Autoroute 40 to East and exit at Boulevard de l'cadie sud. Head straight up to rue Beaumont and turn left onto avenue du Parc. Then turn right and head straight up to rue sherbrooke. Finally turn left and drive up to 270 sherbrooke west.
From Dorval, follow signs to downtown and exit at St-Jacques/de la Montagne. Keep left and take 1st street on your right (rue Saint-Antoine and head straight up to rue University. Turn left and head straight up to rue sherbrooke. Finally turn left and drive up to 270 sherbrooke west.
From Mirable, take the Autoroute 15 South highway and exit at Boulevard de l'cadie sud. Head straight up to rue Beaumont and turn left onto avenue du Parc. Then turn right and head straight up to rue sherbrooke. Finally turn left and drive up to 270 sherbrooke west.
By public transportation
Take underground and get off at the Place des Arts stop.
