Hotel Reviews Paco Residence

Originally my wife and I planned to stay again at Hotel La Scogliera. It is located at the opposite side of Forio. When I directly approached the hotel, they said that a room with sea view would cost 180 euros per night, which I found way too expensive. La Scogliera is near the sea, but you need to walk 500 m for a beach. The beaches at this part of Forio are also not the nicest ones. Anyhow, the price clearly indicated the typical problem of Ischia, even in early May: finding the right balance between price and quality. Looking for something cheaper, I came across Paco residence. It is located at the other side of Forio, that has the advantage that the beaches are better. Paco residence itself was nice: it has small thermal pools, and it is within walking distance from the beach (+- 20 minutes). Disadvantage is that it is on a steep hill (might be troublesome if you have difficulty in walking), but in particular the flats on the 3rd floor offer a very nice sea view. You are also somewhat far removed from Forio (40 minutes walk along the provincial road; not particularly enjoyable), but the bus stop is nearby. If you decide to prepar your food yourself, there are two minimarkets about 300 m from the site of the provincial road whe the road going down from the residence crosses. Walkin to those minimarkets is doable, and allows you to have fresh bread and fruit every day. However, all in all without being prepared to walk, and without having access to a car, your life at the residence might be difficult. Hence, there are some negative aspects of the residence, but in my opinion it certainly offered the right balance between price and quality. The residence is nice, the pools offer a pleasant alternative to going to the beach (but are small, so in particularly when there are not too many holidaymakers around you will feel satisfied), and beaches (cava dell'isola is public and quite nice) are good. How to reach Paco Residence

By ferry
The island of Ischia is connected to the mainland by ferry and hydrofoil services which depart from Naples' harbours, Molo Beverello (Linee Lauro and Caremar ferries) and Mergellina (Lauro and Snav hydrofoil services), as well as from Pozzuoli (Traghetti Pozzuoli and Caremar ferries).
Ferry boats only service Ischia Porto and Casamicciola harbours, while hydrofoils also reach Forio d'Ischia. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes by hydrofoil and 70 minutes by ferry boat.
