Expecting to find it difficult to make a last minute booking for Chamonix over the Easter weekend, I signed up when Ciel et Logis popped up but regretted it when I read the online reviews of the plac afterwards! However, it proved to be a good base for me and my three daughters for skiing, and not at all the hell hole I feared. With a little planning, you can have a great stay there and at 370 euros total for four people for five nights in the centre of Chamonix, it is great value. I did send an e-mail expressing my concerns, from the damning internet reviews I had read, and I don't know if it influenced the apartment we got but this was our experience: The address on the internet site is wrong but a Google search for Ciel et Logis brings up a correct address and map. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We stayed on the 4th floor of a block on the far side of the square to the Ciel et Logis office. The lift worked well and although the floor was dark when the lift arrived, you simply had to press the illuminated button to switch on the lights (on a timer, environmentally friendly). The apartment was small but adequate, with a bathroom and shower with abundant hot water, a kitchenette/lounge with a fridge, cooker, lots of utensils, a double sofabed and small, sheltered balcony overlooking the square. S flight of stairs let to a mezzanine-type space with drawers, a small double bed and a single camp bed. The apartment was almost too warm and there were electric heaters in the bathroom and living space which we did not use. We avoided the linen charges by taking our own towels, sheets and pillowcases but blankets were provided free of charge. In the square downstaris there was a Spar downstairs (good range but expensive), several ski hire places, a pizzeria, Toffs, and two bars. You could hear chatter from the bars only if you opened the balcony windows and the hum of the elevators next to our apartment was a greater disturbance. The

Did the job but nothing to get excited about. Cheap, clean and fairly central. 2 beds in a room with a very basic kitchen and bathroom.

This has got to be the worst place I stayed in in my whole life! It was supposed to be a studio apartment with kitchenette and bathroom. They are all there but only in miniature format. If I stretched my arms and legs I could touch wall to wall! The place was unclean, there was hair on the floor and the bathroom fawcet (tap) handle kept coming off! We were supposed to take possession of the room at 7 pm and vacate the next day at 10 AM! and the icing on the cake was that upon reaching the propoerty we were asked if we needed bed linen, towels and pillows, for which there was an extra charge of 15 euro per person! Wehen we protested they said this was normal practice in france and also asked us to get back to Venere.com for any complaints. Not recommended for sane and hygienic people..

Very very very small appartment, not very clean, old and not updated. The beds are very uncomfortable and it is difficult for 6 persons to stay inside the appartment at the same time. The bathroom was old and not very clean. Thank God we only spent 2 days there. Chamonix is a very beautiful site and with a lot of things to do in the surroundings.

This is without question the worst "place" I have ever stayed in and well below the poorest quality on offer here in Romania. Considering the price 200+ euros per night we could have stayed in a hotel and we along with other families tried to find hotel rooms the first night of our stay - without success! I will never stay here again - nor will my wife or son.

Room was small but otherwise OK. Very hard to find - you can't see any sign from the road and have to walk in to find it. It was not clear from the web page that bedding was an extra charge, but we were informed of that by email after we made the reservation.

On arrival the hotel had no record of my booking, so 5 of us had to share a room. We were also charged €30 per room for an "out of hours" checkout which, quite simply, is a rip-off. I will not stay there again, and will recommend to all my friends that they do the same.
