This is a truly wonderful place. Despite our late arrival, we were offered Moroccan tea and biscuits which was delightful. The place is divine. I don't have high enough praise. Elizabeth runs a wonderful place and I feel very lucky to have had three beautiful nights there.

An excellent riad, run by extremely kind staff. The entrance of the riad is located in a dark, narrow alley, so that it could be easily missed when first getting to the hotel. My room's door had no lock, neither other rooms doors I suspect, which is something rather odd. The inner patio and the terrace - where breakfast is served - are beautiful and quiet. Jama'a al Fna square is at 10 min walk across Medina, and the souq area is really very close. I would highly recommend Noor Charana to travellers that look for unexpensive, quiet, guest friendly hotel in Marrakech's medina

Extremely nice and helpful staff, speaking English. A fantastic traditional breakfast, very rich, different every day. Everything very nice and cosy, just the room a little smaller than we thought and the bathroom not as nice as it looked in the pics (but we saw this is common to a lot of riads in the medina). Excellent location, in the medina (5 minutes walking from Djema El Fnaa), but a bit aside from the big mess of shops and crowd and very easy to reach following the email directions. Not noisy at all, in a small street but very quiet, we never felt in danger returning to the riad at night.

Riad Noor Charana was... WOW! Tucked away down a little, quiet side street we discovered this gem. Rene, Moha and staff were absolutely awesome, serving the most delicious breakfasts and helping us with every question. The Riad was our tranquil sanctuary from the Marrakech madness and I would honestly recommend staying here. Noor Charana ticked all our boxes - from beautiful, comfortable rooms to helpful local advice, to organising trips and transfers, I was sad to leave. At times we really felt 'lost in translation', but the team at Noor Charana bridged the gap. The one night we even decided to stay in for dinner, and the chef made us a Moroccan 'treat' which was the mosts tasty meal we'd had since arriving... I seriously recommend giving the in-house chef a go. The location was also fantastic - 1min from the main street, 2mins from a great Hammam Spa and 3-5mins from a few tour companies. 10mins away is the main square DJemaa ElFna, so noise is to a minimum - we were only woken once to morning prayers from a nearby mosque, but this is something you cannot escape. Heading to Morocco towards the end of winter, we were met with heated rooms, plenty of spare blankets and each night Moha brought us our own water bottles - a fab touch. Rene met us for breakfast one morning, filling us in on the local culture, what to expect, where to go and what to see... he had many helpful suggestions and was more than willing to give out local knowledge which helped us quickly adapt to the 'Moroccan Way'. Since we were miles from friends and family, being able to use their wi-fi and laptop, helped keep everyone up to speed with with our travels. Thanks Riad Noor Charana... for everything. And should we return to Marrakech... we will definitely be booking accommodation with you :)

Excellent Riad and a real oasis amid the excitement of the souks. The staff were very attentative and couldn't do enough for us. They help arrange a balloon flight and attendance at an international football match. The breakfast was very high quality and consisted of fruit, yogurt, pancakes, cake etc. Having spoken to gusets at other riads we were spoilt at the Riad Noor Charana. René-Jean is the perfect host. Even though we arrived 12 hours earlier than he expected, he welcomed us and made sure we were fed and watered before venturing out into the mayhem of Marrakech. The riad, very convenient to Djemaa al Fna, as to all the sights, is nonetheless a haven: when René-Jean closed the door behind us, we could hear only birdsong. This was our first visit to Marrakech. We weren't sure what to expect from the city. We had no need to worry, though: René-Jean made sure we knew where we were going, and how much to pay for various services and so on. We didn't much like Marrakech, but this riad would still tempt us to return!

Riad Noor Charana far exceeded our expectations. The presentation of the guest house was absolutely spot on, right down to the little details. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. It was also located close to the main attractions, but just far enough to escape the craziness of Marrakech. My partner and I enjoyed spending a lot of our spare time relaxing on the terrace or in the courtyard as it was such a nice and peaceful environment. I would highly recommend this place to anybody who wants a nice quiet getaway without breaking the bank.

My friend and I stay in the Riad for 3 nights. I chose the Riad because of it's proximity to the big Square as I wanted to see Marrakesh from inside. If I ever go again I'll I'll stay in the new town in a 4-5 star hotel, which wouldn't cost me much more if I shop around and find some good deals. As for the Riad, it is nice and peaceful. You are well looked after by the staff, especially the manager/receptionist/your-best-friend-there Moha, who was very nice kind and to us and made lovely mint tea with local cakes upon request, even late at night. Please don't forget to tip the staff, they work so hard, and give them all your Moroccan cash left overs at the end of your trip. Our room was on the ground floor and lacked privacy a bit, I had a feeling that I had to wisper at night when it's quiet, so that I am not heard by all guests. I could hear people snoring in other rooms. If that kind of a set-up is not for you give a riad a miss and stay at a modern hotel. Overall it was quite pleasant mixing with other guests at breakfast and in the evening when we all set in the living room by a fire.

From inside, this riad is realy beautiful, and it's only 10 min walk from the Djemma el fna Market. The best way to get there from the airport is taking one of those yellow mercedes taxis that the staff can book for you for 120 mad. Otherwise could be a nightmare to find the hotel among all those small, noisy, packed alleys. The staff was friendly, but not fluent neither in english nor in spanish. Breakfast was ok, nothing fancy, included in the price. They charged us some extra taxes though, but nothing expensive.

Riad Noor Charana is amazing! The moment you walk you are made to feel at home with home made mint tea and biscuits, and shown to a clean spacious room! They booked us a taxi from the airport, because without we would not have found it ( they should put out signs leading to the Rhiad), but once there its an easy five minutes walk to and drom the medina. There are no locks on the rooms, and sound travels a bit, but other guests were considerate so was not much of an issue in the end. The rooms were also cleaned daily and beds were very comfortable. We will go back there for the breakfast alone, the home made juice, pancakes, bread, yoghurt were second to none!!!! My fiance and me loved the place, and would stay there again (unless we wanted a swimming pool), and are already planning our trip back

A quiet retreat from the bustle of marrakech. very close the Jemma el Fna main square and easy to find once you have located the Riad the first time around. Room we had was small, but tastefully furnished with traditional artefacts. The public areas of the Riad were beautiful and the breakfast was delicious. We did not have a meal at the Riad, but were recommended an excellent local restaurant on our first night. We were disappointed not to meet the owner as we had heard such wonderful things about him, but perhaps he had taken a well deserved break during the quieter time. This Riad offers very good value for money, as it is in an excellent location, is charming, the staff are very kind and it is lovely and quiet at night. Definitely have the riad arrange a taxi for you as you will not find it the first time if your unfamiliar with Marrakesh. Once found though, navigation shouldn't be too much trouble and the riad is close to the tourist focal point of the medina. We had the ground floor room and I must admit that I found it initially quite noisy. But, as MGMT pointed out (correctly I think), a riad is not a traditional, purpose built hotel, and as such has some draw backs (internal sound resonates slightly in internal courtyard) to go with its many charms. After a night or two it didn't bother me and the staff did later ask noise was still an issue. In fact the staff were faultlessly friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good. If I were to return to Marrakesh I would probably budget a bit more for accommodation if possible and stay at a more expensive place (the city is frenzied and will wear you down making your hotel important). If I couldn't trade up however, I would definitely stay here again.

The staff and owner at Riad Noor Charana were incredibly gracious and accommodating. We traveled with our 2-year-old son and they treated him like part of their own family. The tea on arrival and the breakfast were traditional and perfect. The door to our room was on the main floor and did not shut completely, so any noise as people gathered on the main floor or checked in/out was evident. However, this did not interrupt us during our stay and our impression of the riad was extremely positive. The value (cost + service + quality + location) is very high and we will return to Riad Noor Charana if we ever have the pleasure of returning to Marrakesh.

It has been our first time in Morocco and Marrakech. In principle Noor Charana has a very good standard and location. A great place for a pretty good price. Marrakech is an amazing place to visit, really good fun, and Riad Noor Charana is such a good respite from the crazy hustle and bustle of the Medina. Nice staff and really close to the Jam el Fna square. Once you've found the place once it's easy to get back to. But as others have said make sure to get a transfer to the hotel as it's a bugger to find that first time! Only things to point out: Hidden taxes not included in any online quotes. Doesn't add up to much (few extra pounds) but worth noting. Also if you try and arrange a transfer to the hotel make sure you get a confirmation that it's been arranged!

This was my first time in Morroco. The main focus was to get away from Christmas. Had a great time all in all. Generally I enjoyed my stay at Riad Noor Charana. My only complaints would be that the food is a little overpriced and their rule that one cannot have anyone enter one's room who is not staying at the riad, albeit that this friend who was staying at a different riad was just helping me with bags, slightly over the top.

The riadh is a haven from the bustle of Marrakech. Strange place to enter, but once inside it's beautiful. Our room was on the ground floor, and we were sometimes disturbed by the sounds of other guests, or dishes clattering in the kitchens. Also, there was no facility to lock our bedroom door from the outside so we were unable to keep things securely, but that didn't really worry us too much. The staff at the riadh were excellent - friendly and accommodating. Breakfasts were lovely, as was lunch. Highly recommended, and I would return to this riadh. the area was special - close to the main square, but down a quiet alley. I was happy to walk around on my own and didn't feel threatened. The local people were very friendly - and the traders in the souk did not put us under any pressure, but seemed to enjoy talking to us and explaining what they were selling. Marrakech was a great place for a short break.

The Noor Charana was a lovely place to stay, it was really peaceful after being in the hectic streets of Marrakech. The bedroom was nice but it would have been better if there was a sink in the toilet instead of the shower room which was outside the bedroom.

While the room was basically ok, I was surprised about a couple key points. First, our room had no lock on the door. I have never seen this in my lifetime and I am stayed in many rooms around the world, including a room for $7 in a bamboo shack in Indonesia. This made me a bit nervous. Second, I was surprised that when we arrived by car, the hotel staffperson had asked someone on the street to help with our luggage without our realizing it. Once we arrived, this person tried to extract a tip that was larger than what we desired. It led to a somewhat heated discussion and not a very nice start to our stay. A bit of communication from the hotel staff would have avoided this interaction.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riad Noor Charana, it was a welcome peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the Medina outside. We found the staff to be very warm, hospitable and accommodating, the Riad was definitely one of the best things about our stay.

This is a wonderful hidden oasis in the bustling city of Marrakech. What a beautiful guest house! Lydi was extremely helpful and even went out of her way to set up internet for us as we were having problems with our ryanair boarding pass. The staff where extremely friendly and you get cookies and tea all day :) One thing that is important to remember is that they only take cash, so make sure you bring cash for your stay! Other then that, fantastic stay!

We loved our stay in the Riad Noor Charana! The owner and staff were most welcoming, friendly and helpful. No complaints at all. The riad was clean and has a lovely atmosphere. I strongly recommend this as a place to stay and I would definately stay here again if I visit Marrakech again.

We very much appreciated the sincere atmosphere and great support / information provided by the management and the local staff. Located in the centre of the medina (a bit hard to get there by taxi in some cases) this is a calm place (except when the Marrakech muezzins are getting active ;-) to relax on the terrace enjoying great homemade breakfast or cookies. A clear recommendation.

We are a couple that were in Marrakech for a few days. The riad is absolutely gorgeous, and the owners were really welcoming and helped us out loads. The breakfasts were really tasty and it was really nice to eat up on the terrace. It was sparkling white clean and there was hot water in the private bathroom - all you need after a long, hot day. The only reason I have not scored 10/10 on all factors is due to "problems" that are part of Morocco altogether - the "not quiet" part due to cockerels and muslim prayertimes at 5am, that you will most likely hear wherever you are. The hotel is right in the medina, it's just quite hard to find if you are looking for it on your own, as it is not signposted, probably for privacy. (It's down an alley, then left down a darker, unmarked alley).

absolutely highly recommended! loved the owner and all the staff there. they were all very hospitable, friendly, and sweet. the homemade food is absolutely delish, the location is also perfect, you can walk anywhere from the riad and it felt very safe. the room was abit small, but very clean and nicely decorated. not to mention the price, i guarantee this is the best bet you can find.

This is a great little riad. It's simple (no massages or fancy spas) but clean, nice and relaxing, and the host and his staff are brilliant. The food was great and we found ourselves returning here for regular breaks from the hectic city throughout the day. It's really close to the centre of the medina so you've right in with the action. Like many of Marrakech's riads, this one is on a little back street paved with rubble, but don't let that put you off as you arrive, once inside, you'll not be dissappointed!
