The Riad has an execellent position, it is located in one of the two central and most important streets of the medina. The reception is polite and the room spacious. The Riad has no restaurant inside, they indicated a restaurant outside, that was good but quite expensive. The staff is insistent with offer of external services. They offered a city tour, they say with official personnel; the price was proper but the tour was short (one day tour reduces to 5 hours tour) and it was mainly a shopping tour.

He ground floor room we had was quaint with historic tile walls and a modern bathroom added on. The finsh workmanship is not first work quality nor is the room boutique chic but afterall the building is several hundred years old. The basic breakfast is served in the historic central courtyard which is to esthetically die for just looking at its charm. I would absolutely stay here again.

Great location in a very confusing city. Staff was helpful, but one person did try to pressure us into going to a fancier, more expensive restaurant than we wanted on our first night. The day tour with Foued was great, but there was some shopping involved. Our day excursion to Meknes, Volubilis, and Moulay Idriss was ok, but the driver did not speak English, and we were not permitted to enter Moulay that day. Overall, however, a very enjoyable stay.

The riad is in an excellent position in the medina, considering the city is a maze in which you get lost at the first turn, the riad is on one of the the main roads, which makes it very easy to find, even at night. The rooms are very generous, very clean and relatively silent(as good as you get in a city centre- we were at first floor by the way, from which you can barely hear the 5 0' clock morning call for prayer). The staff is kind, helpful, but at the same time discreet. The terrace alone is worth the stay, it is quite bare and not furnished but the view is amazing, you can see the entire city and surroundings, breathless view. breakfast... good, quite traditional. The only drawback that I can think of is the bathroom: spacious, working, nice hot water and clean, but a little run down, a tiny maintenance and the place would be spotless.

We loved Hala! And we loved Fez! Great stay. They were so nice to us. I highly recommend. Exceeded my expectation. Bathroom had a funny smell and poor drainage in shower, but all else was A plus. Good breakfast too.

Riad Hala is very beautiful and is ideally situated to discover Fes. We found this the best accomodation we stayed in duringt our trip that went to Fes, casablanca and Marraech. We had a huge room on the 1st floor with a romantic bed, a sitting area and a big bathroom as well. The room as well as the riad itself are very well decorated and are very romantic. The upper terrace gives you a panoramic view over Fes. The breakfast was really excellent (a mix of Moraccan and Western food). Touristic circuit is well organised in Fes. You can easily book a tour of Fes in the streets (the Official guides will come and find you). They have 1 price for the tour which is 150 Dirham for +- 3h. This price is the same for everybody (so no bargaining there) but I really recommend it. You see things you wouldn't have discovered on your own. A full day excursion to Volubilis, Moulay Driss & Meknès costs 800 dirham (also a fixed price operated by official taxi's). This is also an excursion I would recommend. You can book this excursion also in the streets with the official guides.

Very comfortable hotel with beautiful big rooms, decorated and furnished in typical morocco style. The staff is very kind and helpful, they will help you with all you needs. The hotel is in the medina, the old city, near the main entrance door. If it is your first visit in Morocco you should hyre a local guide, you can do it through the city tourist office or through the hotel staff. The hotel will welcome you with typical local mint the. The breakfast is very good, also typical from Morocco. I can assure you wont be so hungry at lunchtime! I would absolutely come back to the samr guest house. You may find cheaper houses around the medina, but they won't have the same standard. I would compare this guest house to a VERY good 4 starts European family hotel. Best choice in Fez!

Riad Hala was a great place for us to stay for our one night in Fez. Affordable and nice. I was disappointed when he said his credit card machine wasn't working and asked for cash. Breakfast was good and plentiful.

Very nice, the rooms are spacious, the staff are very friendly. This riad is in a fantastic location near the blue gate and 2 minutes walk from car parking. The terrace is the highest point of the medina and the view is amazing. Do not look the reception:go inside is beautiful. I think is a perfect accomodation for a visit of Fes

We were happy with the riad. We stayed only one night and were pleased. It is necessary to call the hotel when you arrive in Fes, and have them meet you at the entrance to the medina. Otherwise, you would never find it. It is IN the medina. Only negative was that the common area was COLD at night and our room, with a heater, never really got warm. We were there in January.

Good riad - nice rooms, execellent breakfast and really helpful staff. Was a problem with the bathroom drain that could not be fixed that left a bit of an odour in the room. Don´t follow the restaurant recommendations if you´re expecting good value.

Excellent. Friendly people, wonderful historical Riad with one of the most beautiful terraces of Fez. Real moroccan hospitality and not one of the usual run-by-French-or-English-renovated Riads (that are also much more expensive). Also incredibly silent. Excellent price/quality relation: In hotel-terms you can say about this Riad:'Four stars for the price of Two-'. We can recommend a day-trip to the little town Sefrou; one hour from Fez, and with a big taxi 1 (one!) euro a person.
