Murano Urban Resort - Paris

In view of the price of the room, asking 3 Euro per capsule to use the Nespresso machine seems a bit exagerated to me. In similar hotels coffee facilities are normally included in the room price. Further more, the lobby which is indeed very nice was nearly every evening booked by a private party, so no possibility to have an aperitive after 07pm in the lobby. You could go to the bar but the day I was there,it rained through the atrium....

The stay was excellent except for the smell in the lobby. I don't know what that was but it smelled like sewage. No one could give us a definitive answer about why. It was nauseating.

The hotel is full of pretences. Not quite situated in le Marais although this area of Paris is pleasant and a big hit with students and bo-ho crowd. The welcoming service is very (too) friendly. The receptionist will tell you many times how super amazing the hotel is and how it is the best thing in the world. Shame it certainly doesn't live to its expectations ! Everything is in the appearances and marketing networking (articles and trendiest travel mags, ...) As in many newer design hotel, there is no separation between the bathroom and the room. Great idea to make the room look bigger, add a sexy fun feel to it, I fully agree with the concept. However, the toilet is usually behind closed doors. Not the case in my €450 room !!! The bed is nice and large but comes with NHS hospital bedsheets, the "high-tech" light features are broken and noisy, the concierge was not able to provide me Ipod speakers or the appropriate cable although the hotel will tell you all about their super high-tech features, boost about providing with their own ipod if necessary,.... If you want music in the room, you can just buy their own CDs for €20. The paint was coming off the ceiling and the fantastic BO TV did not allow you to watch TV or listen to the radio. No films or music on demand either. Another feature boosted about by the hotel is the fragrance corridor : fantastic men urinal or train toilet freshener smell !!! Advertises a wonderful spa & pool : Yet to be opened !! To sum up, a hotel that prides itself on the design : Yes, some originality but all done on the cheap side. A lot of pretense and marketing gimmick, great as long as you do not look too close.

A weird modernist decor and almost pitch dark corridors and lift. But comfort, convenience and professionalism of staff all excellent. Location great - we walked through the Marais every day, or there is a metro just outside the door.

Everything was okay, except the other customers were a bit strange. I think the Russian people like to come there... We don't like them. The furniture was too much... less is more, we think.
